Hi ive seen some kernals for the desire and i was wondering what kernal is stable?
Im on euro skank and ive just managed to use the custom hboot or and what is the egl patch?? I seen it in a diffrent desire bravo forum but forgot which one
Kind regards

Usually, the best kernel is the one that comes with the ROM. If it wasn't the most suitable one, then the dev wouldn't have chosen it for his ROM.

Rooted and have engineering SPL on my G2.
Will a stock version "with root" rom of desire z run on the G2?
I have rooted and have engineering SPL installed aswell as clockwork recovery.

I believe that it is too large for the G2 however, there is a port of the DZ ROM; Virtuous, I believe. Check the sticky for links to all the available ROMs

No, there is a larger chip but it was partitioned "funny" so only about 1/2 of the space is available. There's info on this problem in the wiki

Like I said, check the sticky for a list of all available ROMs for the G2; Virtuous is as close to a stock GZ ROM as I think is available.

By own risk obviusly.
This can be done at a kernel level. At least in gingerbread, I would guess once HTC release the source it would be in the same place on ics

I dont think so.
Hi which radio is reccomended for ARHD 7.0.4??
Radios are not based on your roms they are based on your region. Just because a dev recommends a radio don't mean it will work better in your area. Hate to say but flashing a radio won't give you that wow factor.
On the other side of that .19 is good ant there's a new one .11 from at&t out.

Thanks, i'm a noob and when i looking around the forum i always saw people asking for which radio is better for a specific rom!!

Sorry I live in the USA I dont know what radio is good in Malaysia. I would say stick with the one you have if it aint broken no need to fix. Someone in your area may recommend a radio for you.
Sorry but ive got a pretty nooby question. If you want a rom like the Viper rom, Do you need to root youre device to use that ROM?
Yes. There is no way to flash a rom without unlocking the bootloader rooting the phone and on most devices flashing a custom recovery.

Well if you want viper ROM, your gonna have to port it too lol. We don't have it for primo yet, maybe soon. Don't try to install one from incredible, you could very easily brick your phone.

And by a primo rom you don't need all that root ****?

primo u or primo c you have to root your mobile to install any type of custom firmware...
Is there a rom where you don't have to root youre phone to use it?

The ROM that comes with the phone. Did you get your phone subsidized through a carrier with a contract? Trying to wrap my head around why you are nervous about rooting.

Welcome to XDA devs. You'll find that most of the development forums have "sticky" posts at the top that will explain not only the rules (you'll see one applies to you already) and standards, but also some helpful "noob" guides to get you started.
From your initial question (and follow-ups) it appears you're brand new to android. That's cool, we all were once. Do yourself a favor and do about an hour of reading--straight reading--before asking any more questions. This is not an insult, it will be much faster than asking, waiting for a response, then asking another question ad infinitum.
Finally, specifically to your question: most of what happens here on XDA devs requires unlocking your bootloader and rooting; if you're not comfortable with doing that, this probably won't be the best forum to you. Again, no offense intended. Your fears are well-founded: you could break your phone if you don't understand what you're doing. That said, I'm pretty much computer illiterate, but have had a great deal of success around here by just reading, reading, reading.... and then following directions in the posts (and there's many posts in which people give fantastic step-by-step directions.
So good luck, search the forums, read the forums, and ask questions once you've tried something and it's not working the way you expected. And have fun!

No you don't need to be rooted to flash a rom. Unfortunately you will.need to unlock your bootloader via HTC dev. Install recovery then flash the rom

They're right, you don't need to root to flash a ROM. In fact, most if not all custom ROMs are pre-rooted. I'm suggesting you read first to understand what "root" really means; once you have the basics down, the idea of messing with your phone won't seem nearly as frightening.
BTW- another thing about XDA: click the "thanks" button in addition to saying thanks in your comment.
I ported one Viper rom. It was very laggy due to the overclock default of the rom with Screen off, and bulkyness in size.
You DONT need to root your device to use a rom, but you NEED to unlock the bootloader.
There goes your loophole.
So i have to unlock bootloader and recovery and thats it?

Can someone explain to me why every time I overclock my phone on any Rom the screen starts to split and lag? How can I fix this? I would really like to fix this in my next Rom if I can
Sent from my HTC-PG762 using Tapatalk 2
The lock screen lag is because the phone finds it hard to sswitch from deepsleep to aa.minimum frequency where it could perform the function.
The trick is to set the minimum.frequency to 245mhz (recommended) and find a governer which suits u.

yeah sometimes i feel it.its very normal like when you start data or wifi or installing app or something like that and that time if you open app drawer you feel lag.
i dont find any solution for that but yeah my country i meaning asia_india stock rom, deodex version works well other than.
and also im on cm9.1 now.which has not a single lag without overclocking.
there are alot of causes like wrong scheduler governer(you have to check that setting self that which is best for you) also some viruses if you download movies and songs from internet much(i hv seen some has problems like that) also sd-ext tweaks(because we have limited memory still we uses more app via that hack so)
lots of reason.
solution find good stock rom.deodexed version is better.
omg man how many times do i have to say this... ITS NOT LAG! lol the screen splits when i slide across the home screens but it only happens when overclocked
