So, i just bought my Galaxy S2 and started installing roms normally.
However the problem is that mostly every 10.1 roms dont work such as awesome Hurcules 4.6/ P.A.C. Rom, etc...
I did a full wipe-> Clean davik-> installed Rom-> Rebooted. And its stuck on the boot animation forever. ITs been around 10~15 min and still stuck
I had the same problem when I first got my S2. Surprisingly, CWM Recovery ended up being the issue. I switched to TWRP per members suggestion and problem solved.

i am rooted, i tried to instal a custom red and black market and when it rebooted it just got stuck in a loop. so i took it into recovery and tried to flash a new rom thinking that may fix it..... after wiping everything. i also noticed that my market kept force closing just before the reboot.
the rom installed just fine as far as i can see but all i see is the boot animation that came with the new rom
ok i got it up, i have kingsrom running but i have no keyboard to set it up. do i need gapps installed
yeah gaspps needs to be installed
I have recently bought a GSM galaxy nexus and have rooted it, for the past few weeks I have been trying to install custom roms through Cwm (drewgaren, eagleblood and cm nightly) however every time I install the rom it gets stuck after the Google logo.
Any idea what the issue is? And what rom do you guys recommend to fix the rotation issue, battery life and good overclocking speed?

Gets stuck after the Google logo, as in the boot animation loops or you just see "Google" with the little lock at the bottom forever?
Did you follow the instructions of installing and did you do a full wipe before installing the ROMs?
You have to do a full wipe if switching to a new ROM ... keep in mind you will lose every user data while doing so, make sure to backup everything you need
It gets stuck at the boot animation,
Ah, full data wipe is required to install new roms?
*facepalm*
Well, that should be one of the first steps when things go haywire
Kindly will do that, what rom do u guys suggest?

It's always at random. But I've been experiencing whenever I reboot my phone, it stays stuck on the Google logo screen for like 3 minutes, then finally changes over to the new Nexus animation after installing Vicious Toro V1.
I've done a clean install (wipe data/cache/dalvik, format data/cache/system). Twice. This issue still arises.
Any ideas? Thanks guys!

Have you tried a different kernel to see if the boot up speeds up?

Does this occur on full stock?
I would suggest flashing a stock image just to make sure it isn't anything ROM related, if you haven't already.
It might be ROM related. Haven't heard anyone else having any issues with it though.
I'll just stick it out and wait for the AOKP 4.1.1 ROM.
Thanks anyways guys!

Hi, this morning I encountered something which I haven't seen before in my 3 years or so of flashing roms on Android phones. The scenario was the standard process: Root with Odin > Install CWM with Odin > Copy Rom / gapps package to sdcard > Wipe & Install rom with CWM.
I rooted my Note II using CF Auto Root, all went fine, I flashed the latest Phil's touch CWM recovery using Odin which was also successful.
I had root access and was able to do a titanium backup of apps and messages/call logs. I successfully did a Nandroid backup of the stock rom.
After wiping data through CWM as per normal, I flashed the latest Utacka ParanoidAndroid and gapps. The flash was successful, but after rebooting, the 'Samsung Note II' splash screen only appeared briefly, then the image sheared and distorted and the screen went black, in less than three seconds.
I restored my nandroid backup and repeated the process, this time also formatting system, and installing CM10.1 nightly instead of PA. Again, I got a distorted splash screen then a black screen when trying to boot.
Can anyone think of a reason why my phone does not seem to be able to boot a custom rom?
Many thanks
I read on the forum someone else had a similar issue with cm as well

Really? I've tried searching xda, google and the CM forums and havent found anything relevant.
I had this problem recently and after some nice guys helping me out we conclude that the solution is to flash RedPill kernel as the culprit for this glitch is the stock kernel you previously had.
I had such issue with my Note2 too. I was advised to flash Thor kernel 0.15 too after flashing cm10.1 and gapps. And problem was solved. Now cm10.1 boots normal on my Note2.

hi all, i was on DN3 and all works fine, then wanted to try 4.4, downloaded omni, and propam, after the installation is finished and everything went ok in recovery, when my phone boots, it get stuck at rom logo, and when i touch the screen, the buttons light turns on (it responds to my touch), but not fully booting, this happened with all 4.4 roms, also used all aosp kernels with the same issue, however all TW roms are booting fine

Did you flash the lates CWM recovery before you updated? because 4.4 isnt compatible with any other previous custom recoveries...also after the phone boots up and gets stuck...try rebooting to recovery mode and clearing data....advised to backup...in case of any data loss...hope this helps you
I am on latest TWO, also I tried to clear data when stuck, but the issue still there, the strange thing is this issue happens on any aosp 4.4 only, aosp 4.3 and tw 4.3 are working fine.
