This is driving me bonkers. How do I stop the system update notification from popping up every 5 minutes?
Thanks in advance for any help.
If you have a custom recovery .. try to update and it will fail and out should not do it again

I have TWRP, so just hit "Install Now" and all should be well? Is there anything to worry about?

I already had the latest version of ICS and today i checked and it told me there was an update, and when it rebooted to install, it went into cwm and well i didnt know what to do so i just rebooted it, and it said the update was interrupted. now i go to try again and it says its up to date yet still 4.0.4 and is making me wait 24 hours -.- to check again.
im thinking i shouldve used the command on cwm "install sdcard/update file"? didnt know what that was gonna do so i didnt try
Ota updates won't install via CWM, you need stock recovery to do ota's.

Hey guys, I was having GPS issues and while I didn't really want a custom ROM, I read about an app called Fasterfix but it needs root access, so I figured I would root it. I used this method - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1721229, the FH13 version. It failed about 1/4 the way through. Now when my phone starts it says, "Firmware Upgraded encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again."
What should I do?

Yes sir! Just remember it GB not ICS. IMO GB is the best for battery life and data speeds are way better than ICS

I used the FF18 one click restore and it worked, but I don't understand why the FH13 would have failed when my phone had the 13 update...
I know I can flash any custom ROM I want now or the rooted/odexed version of the 4.1.2 OTA, but just for a little while I'd like to keep the flash counter at zero.
I'm still on 4.1.1 because I just got my phone 2 days ago, and I flashed the non-tripping stock root odin package before I even turned my phone on. But now I see there's an update for 4.1.2 (that someone said has multiview???) and I was wondering if there's a way to get to 4.1.2 and root it without tripping the flash counter.
Ideas?
Exynos abuse exploit. Google search it after you take the update. Download it and run it.

I'm not questioning you (thanks by the way), but I thought the 4.1.2 update was specifically to fix that issue. Was that not for the Note II?

Get the update.zip file and copy to your cache directory .
Go into recovery mode (vol up +home+power) → flash from cache. and done ...It won't wipe your data... . .and you will get you multiview.
From your previous comment. ..don't worry about custom rom count. .it can be easily rest via triangleaway.

Try recovery mode →clear cache ..Then copy update zip into cache. .som3 people suggest full unroot before runing the update..try that. I ran the update.zip in my wifes phone today with this method.

Use the exynos abuse apk to quickly root. Quick question, are you using stock recovery?

Exynox can root easily.. just copy the .apk to your phone and install app and root..takes 30 seconds..once rooted follow above.

Did. Still gave me the error when flashing in recovery. Also the root is like not working completely. Some apps don't ask for permission and so I can't give it to them.
Edit: bought supersu pro and it worked nicely. (the root acess, flashing still doesn't work)

No problem. Glad you got it resolved.
You can hit normal..updates fine that way. Doesn't need recovery to install. Takes 2 seconds and no reboot

Choose reboot and it will boot into cwm or twrp and fail then reboot and won't get the prompt for a while
