Make a nandroid backup and flash it. If it breaks something then no, you can't flash it.
Does anyone else have a response that isn't "hope for the best?"
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
No one will be able to tell you that 100% your phone will be fine. It takes literally 5 minutes to nandroid, 10s to flash, 30s to boot, and then 5 more minutes to nandroid back if it doesn't work.

No need to apologize haha I know making nandroids can be a pain but they're usually the easiest/fastest way to find out if something will work for you.

How is his reply nasty? It's the same warning posted on ant modification thread: "I am not responsible for anything that happens to you from this. Always make a nandroid".
Telling you to backup, try it yourself (which us the best way to learn), and restore if necessary is not nasty/mean/sarcastic/etc. If anything, it's one of the nicer ways to respond considering the environment on xda.

Actually adb is the fastest way to check if an app will work. It takes about 5 minutes to push the file you want, check it, and revert if it doesn't work

Does it have IMM76Q on it already? That's what the CLNR phones are now shipping out with.
if its GSM, it prolly already has JB on it.

Ah. The old problem when tone cant be conveyed in text...it sucks especially on the internet. So how different is the VZW box than the gsm box?

Not sure how my thanks was taken for trolling, but sorry if it was taken that way. What I meant to say was thanks for providing the information about the new packages with "Update" written on them.
PS the term "mole" is an old intelligence term for an insider who provides information. I apologize if that reference offended you.
Let's move on.

Chainfire have a free version, you could do a nandroid and take some time to test the free version before committing, the pro version is worth it though.
Thanks, I don't think the forum would go offline if someone just answered with similar effort, though, especially when I wouldn't be the only one benefiting from a direct answer. I used to get answers from "stupid" 3rd party forum questions all the time, even before I was a member, I don't think XDA would argue with a little more traffic from Google since they'd have the answer in a thread.

I've never used heimdall, I have Windows but go to galaxys3root.com and there is a guide there on how to root. Just follow those steps and it should work. You will lose all the data on your internal sdcard though

Did you install that from the market? If so that app has bricked countless sg3's including mine. That app should have a warning or just be removed from the market its terrible, there are other ways to get beats installed without bricking your device!!

I agree DO NOT USE that site. But my main reason for visiting this thread was to say Beats sucks. Get good headphones and PowerAmp and you should get way better sound quality.
