4.2 camera problem, please help !

sup guys, okay i know there a thread for this already but it seemed to died out..
i recently rooted my nexus with codename android 3.8.0 (4.1.2)
toro.
and i cant use my camera " unfortunately, gallery has stopped" pops up..
okay well i downloaded the 4.2camera.zip file went in to recovery deleted cache and dvcache , uploaded the zip, i tried setting the premissions to rw-r-r i believe thats
what its suppose to be set at. and i rebooted and still nothing.
I also deleted the gallery2.apk file. because they say that it could conflict.
the only thing i dont get how to do is to move the lib. files? ...
help me out please ! i miss my camera !

What Roms have you tried? I'm running paranoid android with out issue with the gallery.

I went back to stock ROM that's still rooted , I've tried at least 3 different ROMs and still same thing..

As from what I've understood - you never pushed that camera into system ... I really don't have much time now, so I can't explain how to do it properly ... Search a bit over the web / xda and you'll find how to do that ... You rename your current gallery / camera set then via adb push the other one ... Just try it out! I for instance have 2 cameras and 2 gallerys ... CM camera/gallery and 4.2 camera/gallery ...

[Q] Small problem with djolivier ROM and can't post...

Hi all,
Can't post in the developer thread and the ROM creator has disabled PM's so has anyone else fixed this....?
I'm using Mervellous CM10 ROM by djolivier and firstly, no matter what settings I tweak my buttons will not backlight!
Secondly, the app OTA Update Centre will not download updates for the rom (yes it is supported). The download seems to start and then where the files being downloaded should be listed, NaN flashes up and then I get an error saying there is an error with this download, or something to that effect.
I'm using the build of the rom from April 20th and I've tried updating the app and uninstalling it which it doesn't seem to like as the app is built into the rom.
If anyone can help or even repost this in the rom thread on my behalf I'd appreciate it a lot!

OK just read through the thread for the rom a little more and found that the update thing is known about and is expected so the only real unresolved issue that I have here is the backlight for the buttons if anyone has any ideas

It's a widespread bug, not even sure it can be called a bug.
Use "keyboard brightness control" or "adjbrightness".

Even I had the same problem. I tried doing the settings given by djoliver, but they didn't work. Then I realized that you have to turn on 'Automatic Brightness' under 'Brightness' and then the buttons worked perfectly.

Problem loading Marvellous CM10
Hope someone can help me. After much experimentation with different configuration settings for installing the Marvellous CM10 ROM, I still cannot successfully install with INT2EXT+, and INT2EXT is way too laggy to be functional. I keep getting error code "7" after tying to install with INT2EXT+.
Before flashing the ROM, I always flash Superwipe first. Is there anything else that I might need to do to beforehand to ensure a successful installation? If not, can anyone suggest a setup configuration that successfully installs the ROM using INT2EXT+?

Quite some time since I last tried my hands on apk modding...will try now and post up :silly:

I found those for cm10.1 but there want a lot of editing and im pretty boring to do them..they are easy thought exept if your trying to edit a lot of custom rom like slim like me that having alot of extra code!!it will be easier on pure cm10.1

I am gonna try it on the latest Paranoid Android Alpha..

I don't think there are major changes in framework since then..it should work
It will take me some time coz I am going back to development after an year and my last droid was kinda different from a Nexus
Lot has changed since then, new fancy tools and all
I will try my best and report back ASAP

Status update:
So, I spent past couple of hours trying to port the recent apps mod to the PA and CM but it didn't work out :crying:
I was able to do the changes and compile the SystemUI.apk and framework-res.apk but when I flash the zip, the SystemUI just keeps crashing on the boot..
"SystemUI has stopped working."
I was using this guide:

But still..no gain Force Closes everytime

1st this is a cm10 guide...
2nd the layout port is the portrait maybe its the layout(single) folder!!!

1. Yep, it is CM10 guide and the person who wrote this used the same to apply mod on CM10.1...
2. Yep I know it's portrait that's why I have mentioned that I already tried changing in the single folder...

The think is that in layout and layout_land you need to remove the whole code and paste his...the thing is that if you compare the 2 codes you can see that alot of change in recents code but you remove alot of code existing..im pretty sure thats causing the FC's i try with a guide for 10.1 and i still have this problem...systemui refuse to load even when the phone reboots properly..so maybe if we exclude the fact that we can copy and paste...the code there is old and cm has added a lot of stuff in it after that...so we need someone who knows to check the code and apply it to a newest version of cm...
and remember those guides are for cm if your trying to do it on a PA or SLIM or anyother heavy tweaked rom you will mess a hell lot more things!

4.3 Pac Rom (Nightly 10/27&28) phone.android fc issue

Hi,
I'm not yet authorized to post in dev section, but for those who have android.phone fc all the time since they've installed 4.3 Pac Nightly (27 & 28 of october) and can not make or receive any phone calls, I spent a part of the night but it seems that it happens when in PAC settings, Make it black, "Pac in black" is unable. When you disable it, the phone app works just perfect.
I hope it will help. It took time for me to find it. And besides these small issue, I would like to say to the PAC's developers that their ROM is just one of the best ! Thanks for their great energy and work.

Thanks. But I should have started by the beginning in my explanation. I did a full wipe data, system, format, cache... I tried several times in a row. I'm now on the "21" (the only "usable", All in Black and phone working) and wait to see what happen with the next nightlies. But it seems I'm not the only one in this case. Thanks again for the help.

The worst thing first: toggles section in drop down is oversized :/
Location (1-5 times of 10 runs)
Camera 5 of 10 runs
Goes infinite reboot on most of available themes
No way to switch off navigation bar backlight
Sometimes, mostly when call ends buttons become unresponsive.
Battery life: it depends. Mostly 1-2 percent by 7 mins. But sometimes unexpected battery drain happens, and no stats are showing drain.

Well bro the the toggles section isn't oversized. It depends on themes. The theme i'm using is working perfect.
Camera you can change don't try to be noob. Try Google Camera.
Well maybe you are using incompatible themes. Try only to use MIUI v7 Themes.
Backlight can be switched off using Xposed Modules.
Call Button issue is also a theme based issue.
I would advice you to only use MIUI v7 Theme. Try IOs AfterGlow

I don't like to mod miui via xposed, cos all exp I got from moding miui - crashes and stuff
I'll try to use other theme, but many of them cause infinite reboot.
My trouble is that mostly in all apps I see error msg which says smth like "can't connect to the camera "

Sorry for the inconvenience but this cannot connect to the camera issue is not at my side.
Maybe you should try reflashing clean install.
Moreover almost all modules over xposed have been updated to work on miui and they don't crash.
I have tried almost all.

Camera issue Was solved.
But another major issue - most of apps can't retrieve my location, for example Viber. And that's a thing. And I've no idea how to deal with :/

Actually in MIUI and Android Marshmallow 6.0 we have to give permission to every single app. Just go over to security app then to permission and then find viber and give it location access.
If this doesn't works. Then install google maps and try to locate yourself by turning on GPS. It's just to check if it's a permission problem or ROM based.

So I did it, but no help again
Also after some days of use random reboots started to occur.
Idk why I've not been using any stuff which usually cause them

D2att. Also heats as hell by this moment. Even worse than stock. I like miui. But I don't like when I put my phone to pocket with 76% charge, and after hour I take it back and see 20%.
No WiFi, location, or even 2g Internet were used. No stats about drain.

I have the same phone but whatever problems you are telling are not at my side neither at anyone else. I think you messed up with the installation process.

Idk how it's possible. But zip is intact.
I always Format system and other partitions except internal storage, and than I install.

I might still have it, if not I have an excellent miui v5 that I've modified, been using it for about 6 months, runs great. The v7 version in the OP has some issues I couldn't fix.. But I think I still have the original zip
