[Q] How to flash stock recovery for OTA - HTC One X

I have tried a search but can't find what I'm looking for. I am rooted but want to do the OTA update. I have downloaded the correct stock recovery .img file but what is the procedure to flash this?
Thanks, Craig

Rename the stock recovery to recovery.img and place it in the fastboot folder ..... Put the phone in the bootloader and flash it from the command prompt on the pc
Fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Fastboot erase cache

Hi Craig
I've seached and cannot find a suitable stock image download for a UK HTC One on the Orange network (if that makes any difference).
Could you post where you downloaded a stock image from please?
I've found plenty of M7 RUU links but it seems a bit crazy to reflash everything including the radio just to reset the bootloader.
Thanks in advance

Recovery is present in RUU. If u have found the correct RUU then just extract the recovery image from Ruu and then flash it. When u click the ruu a temporary zip file is created in c drive (windows pc). There is a file called "rom.zip" . Extract recovery from this rom.zip

No luck with this..

Hi
I've spent several hours trawling through forum posts and trying suggestions but I'm having no luck getting back to stock.
This is what I have:
HTC One on Orange UK
Bootloader locked
S-On
CWM Recovery
Stock ROM
What I've done is unlocked the bootloader and flashed CWM recovery. I then relocked the bootloader.
I've searched for hours for a stock recovery that is compatible with this model but to no avail. I've also tried to find an RUU for Orange UK but again, no luck.
I've tried to set S-Off using revone but get an 'error: device not found' when running 'adb push revone /data/local/tmp/'. I've also tried to run 'fastboot oem unlock' but that also errors.
The phone works but I'm unable to OTA upgrade which is quite frustrating.
Anyone have any recomendations as how to get this back to stock?
Many thanks in advance

[Q] Bootloop, bricked

Hey, i unlocked the bootloader, flashed a CWM (That does not allow me to mount my phone storage to the PC), tried to flash 2 .zips (the Remove menu thingy, and the SuperSU V.0.87) and when i tried to do that it went in a bootloop(or bootstuck? gets to the "HTC One X - Beats Audio screen, and never gets any further) WHAT DO I DO? Help me please!
Hi, i did exactly the same thing and...i got the same result ....Please, anyone knows how to solve it???????
I am guessing you didnt take a backup in CWM prior to flashing the mods? If not, unfortunately, your only solution would be to bring it back to complete stock and flash the RUU that originally came loaded on your phone.
1) Flash stock recovery:
Grab it from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1579797
Then Boot in bootloader >> Fastboot and issue the following command (assuming that the offical recovery is named recovery.img): fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
2) Relock Bootloader:
Boot in bootloader >> Fastboot and issue the following command: fastboot oem lock
3) Find and run/flash the RUU for your device, find it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1543604
Thanks!!!!! thank to you I managed to unlock my mobile
Can't really tell you what worked, i flashed my RUU but it failed, i tried flashing stock and all that (which i put on there beforehand as CWM can't mount the drive), but in the end it was just persistence that got it, so just keep trying!

I think the Menu removal caused bootloop. I don't have my PC with me if someone can upload the stock Framework-res.apk and SystemUI.apk you could replace that to boot it back again. If nothing works then download one of the Custom ROM (ARHD or LeeDroid) then wipe everything and flash that it should work for you.
End to unlock again?

You should have received a code from HTC when you unlocked, check your email for it. Then you place it in file with fastboot on computer, open cmd prompt, type in fastboot oem unlock and it should unlock.

As my first post here, I wanted to make it something helpful. Anyway, you will need to find the stock recovery and use fastboot to put it on. Sorry, don't know where you would look to find one, maybe someone has one here?

well as i understand you need to revert to device's stock condition
as far as i know only way to do it is by RUU or individually flashing every image. RUU is easily done but as you mentioned you get error messages try finding out what those error messages mean
common messages are
cant connect to device----ensure you are in fastboot usb mode
version problems----check weather you are using the right RUU (RUU is different for diferent regions) one RUU can have more than one versions so be sure which one you need
and you also need to lock you bootloader before running RUU
let me know if anything works
take a complete backup and make a goldcard just in case..you never know what may happen

Actually, this 's-on' and 's-off' is very much important. You can flash any stock rom with s-off but not that easily with s-on. I'm a noob so I can't really explain further. Search for it!

i got same problem some days ago.cant port ruu and remove cwm.
so first of all you find your ruu from football's marvel collection or search on internet.if its in .zip file its very good extract it,you ll find recovery.img,boot.img and system.img
or if its in .exe file.first try installation wizard if its fail.again start installation wizard and then keep it on dont update bootloader just go to temp folder.(C:\Users\[LoginName]\AppData\Local\Temp\{82B23FCD-D5D0-45CA-A3A2-5350D3926551}) in this you will have see rom.zip file extract it.you ll find
recovery.img,boot.img and system.img then,
remove battery (power +volume down) to going in hboot then click on fastboot then plug your phone usb with computer open cmd and type:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash system system.img
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
you can see fastboot file in your extracted zip.by this way you manually port stock rom.i tried it and it successfully possible.but i use my original stock rom, ages when i used europe rom it failed.
and please be careful in type commands it ll brick your phone if you doing anything wrong..maybe it ll help you
and yes one thing read this thread carefully i recommand third method which i mentioned here.

and s-on or s-off.there are many difference between twos.i dont know much i m also noob here.but with s-off you can change your hboot, radio and many customization but with s-on its difficult i think.so i recommand you to flash your orginial stock rom if you are s-on.i have s-on phone so my phone wont remove cwm with any other stock roms and its got failed.so mind this thing.and know more about s-on and s-off read this.

I solved my problem using flashy program. it's very useful. I get the recovery.img from a stock rom's .zip, then flashed.

[Q] Reverting to Stock

Hello all,
So I'm attempting to revert to stock. Search has yielded some answers, but also posed some new questions for me.
I found this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1704021&highlight=stock
with this info:
Yes.. you can run the RUU on top of a custom rom, no need to nandroid restore your old stock backup. Most important is the stock recovery been flashed and bootloader re-locked before you run the RUU.
And I normally also flash a stock boot.img first. (some people say no need to do this, but it is no harm doing it).

So now my question is, how do I revert to a stock recovery? I know locking the bootloader is:
Code:
fastboot oem lock
but I still need a little more help getting my HOX back to stock. Any help will be appreciated greatly.

Hello. You have to flash stock revovery from cwm recovery thread, before you relock bootloader (command is then: fastboot flash recovery recovery.IMG (take name of stock recovery and put a .img on its end)
Good success
Sent from my HTC One X using XDA
Find the recovery relevant to your version before you flashed custom Rom (mines 1.29.401.11) download it and put it in the same folder as your fastboot files. Go into fastboot USB and type fastboot flash recovery "name of stock recovery".img
You might have to "fastboot erase cache" if you get stuck on the HTC splash screen after rebooting
EDIT: putti71 beat me to it

If you flash an RUU it replaces the recovery with stock so you don't need to do that, just lock the bootloader and flash the RUU you downloaded before unlocking the phone in the first place

i thought you had to have stock recovery to flash a ruu

what do i rename the rom name to flash in bootloader

for example htc rezound if you rename the rom name to PH98IMG you can reboot into bootloader and flash the rom automatically. how do I do that? asking because I don't have a rom on my phone (I wiped everything) now trying to get a rom loaded on it

Your Rom can be named whatever you want as long as you write the name the same in the command and Idk if there is an automatic way like that, I doubt it.
This cant be done with roms, only with ruu's and firmware images. You would need a usb-otg cable, a fat32 formated flash drive, and the correct name would be PN07IMG.zip
im so stuck now. the htc resound was so much easier.
im s-off but stuck with no rom at all to load.
I kno how to adb sideload a rom to my phone but non of them are installing.
how can I return to stock?

more information would be nice. I cant not find a ruu zip or exe downloadwith vzw_001 thats my cid I believe.
so I will have to get that ruu and adb sidload it and then install from twrp? or fastboot oem rebootRUU install it that way?
detailed information would be greatly appreciated my hboot is the dreaded 1.56 I am s-off tho unlocked.
You can get the ruu's at the bottom of this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=46506621
You can direct flash thru hboot as i explained earlier, or use
Code:
fastboot oem rebootRUU
Code:
fastboot flash zip nameoffile.zip
You do not sideload the zip to the phone, but put it on your pc in the same folder as fastboot.exe.

hmm thank you so much. and for some reason encrypted ruu doesn't work? but isn't that like how stock comes from the factory? I would like it to be factory stock to the max. then im gunna just debloat it.
For encrypted to work you must relock your bootloader. Either way you are getting the exact same thing. Encrypted / decrypted refer to the flashable file it self, not the files it contains or how they are put on the phone. Once you do the ruu and take the ota, you will be compleet stock other than being unlocked and s-off.

Your welcome. You can extract the recovery image file from the rom.zip of the RUU. You run the exe then enter %temp% in the Windows search bar. The files that show up numbered (one of them had the rom.zip in it which contains the recovery image.) copy recovery image , unlock bootloader, flash stock recovery, lock bootloader, run RUU executable, done !

Doesn't work.

I go to extract the ROM.zip file and it says that the zip file is corrupted. So I tried running the RUU without doing that step, it puts an HTC logo on my phone, and soon after it says the update has failed.
I tried using USB debugging, I've tried booting it in Fastboot and Hboot, I've tried booting it from the Bootloader. It doesn't work. I've searched everywhere on the internet for the Stock Recovery and that doesn't exist.
Is there just a backup I can use or something?

It's been awhile since I copied my stock recovery from my RUU file but I believe I used Winrar or 7zip. So you would rather flash some random persons stock TWRP backup with God knows what done to it before they even made the backup than a clean pure stock RUU ? Most people don't do the TWRP backup right after flashing TWRP. most do it days or weeks later after they have modified their system playing with root. I would never flash someone else's TWRP backup to my device unless it was an absolute last resort. We're one of the few devices (a5_chl)that HTC gives us stock RUU's for . It's all the poor dual SIM users who are having to flash these random TWRP backups and many still have issues after that. I know you think it's easier but it is not as long as you still can flash back the stock recovery. Try to extract it again using Winrar and if that doesn't work( it should) then here's a link to FoxyDrew's forum with the stock recovery for our device linked and flashing instructions ( albeit for kit Kat I believe.) Don't give up on this method cause your almost there ! First link is a step be step tutorial on getting the recovery image extracted from your RUU. Try it first because it's best to copy the RUU's recovery image. If you can't then the 2nd link below has a link to a copy.
