Did you enable USB Debugging? Even after enabling if it doesn't work, install SEUS or PC Companion. It installs all the necessary drivers.
Isn't your phone Xperia SL? Why are you flashing a Xperia S FTF file? Also, have you installed the drivers? You can found it in the drivers folder of flashtool.

Xperia SL has a different bluetooth version and default clock speed is 1.7GHz. So the kernel is somewhat slightly different. It is safer to flash your own device's rom though. Yes, XZX2 should work on this fw. If you unlock your bootloader, you can just flash a custom kernel, go to CWM and directly flash the rom. No need for workarounds to root your phone etc. Everything is much easier and simpler, though you **may** lose your warranty after unlocking the bootloader.

Oh and I just downloaded the .55 sources. There are two different defconfig files for XS and XSL. This clearly proves that there must be some difference in the kernel.
You have to be running 2.50 to flash XZX2 i have it on Xperia s it also did not work with 2.55 firmware

At the top of the rom's thread it is written - " the stock 6.1.A.2.55 rom with the feeling of JellyBean" but installation instructions say to use .50 as a base because .55 is (or should I say was) more difficult to root on locked bootloader. So, the best option is to flash Xperia SL's and NOT XS's firmware with Flashtool.

Should we refuse the update whenever we get the notification for unrooted Arc S?

I have the same problem and have tried various solutions suggested on here, all to no avail. Can some kind person break it down in simple steps for me, I would be eternally grateful.
Had the same issue to get to .62.
I unlocked the bootloader and flashed ICS beta
The key is by using the flashtool if you want to
Do NOT use OTA update nor SEUS if you unlocked your bootloader. Its common that you will brick your phone. And if you want to remove the message from your phone just freeze the update service apk using titanium backup or any other application that can freeze applications.

Phone Unbricked again with sucess
Hi guys i want to share some information who was useful for me with Xperia Arc S 12w07 :
Important : Dont make normal updates with SEUS ou PCC if your phone was unlocked by other tool, because you will brick the phone, you need to start using other firmwares, but ask for opinions first..
After Alejandrissimo unbrick my phone, the phone ask me to do update to new version, so i click yes to make thet update, and after 5 seconds gave me one error in update, so my phone was dead again with yellow triangle with one phone, so i talk to alejandrissimo again and he gave one file to fix the phone again with Flashtool, so i will share with you ok, but i think i already saw this file in other post..
Steps :
1º - Install Flashtool - flashtool-0.9.10.1
1.1º - Google and find this file : " [Xperia Device] flashmode & fastboot driver bundle " and install all..
2º - Install all Drivers
3º - In flashtool be sure if the drivers already installed, sometimes the file install but in pc need to install more with the phone connected
4º - Select Flash Mode
5º - Put the fix file in folder firmware of flastool, and you can delete the other file x10 in the same folder you dont need.
6º - In " Program Files\Flashtool\devices\LT18 " you have this file loader.sin, when you try to flash if he give this error : " cant find loader_unlocked.sin ", then you need to rename the " loader.sin " file to " loader_unlocked.sin", and then flash again, and will work..
If was simple bick like my phone it will be fix it, maybe for other phones is the same, check the devices folder for the files and if you need to rename like i did...
Hope this help for some people ok..:good:
Now i need to update to new version of android, but i need to see what is the correct file to flash or i will brick my phone again..
Tks to Alejandrissimo again, he teach me to do that.. :fingers-crossed:

had lot of apk's installed and was multitasking and again the phone rebooted and got stuck @ sony logo.
Tried loading the kernel with cwm built in i.e. 4.1.b.587 with cwm from fast boot this phone is not rooted but the Xperia Ultimate HD is rooted .
Bootloader is unlocked on mt Arc S.
Reloaded the stock Rom , rooted using Doomlord method and was still unable to flash a new kernel .
Tried this
1-Turn off phone
2-Hold down menu key and turn on Connect the usb to computer and led is blue.
3- Got to fastboot folder and type command fastboot flash boot abc.img (abc is the kernel image name) I get device must be rooted.Where as the Xperia Ultimate HD is already prerooted .Please help as I dont have any recover installed now as installing Xparts works only on stock kernel and it installs it on system partition.Any other method to install cwm via flashtool on boot/recovery partition.

You have to unlock your boot loader and install a CWM loaded kernel because every time you change your ROM on a locked boot loader, you wipe your /system (partition with your CWM on it) so you lose CWM.

how can I flash .ftf when it is fastboot mode?

Thanks god its just a soft brick, will try to install drivers now and cross my fingers
Hi! My phone is working now I jst flashed .58 and I will root it now and restore my nandroid backup of Gin2Jelly Bean. *Pressing the thanks button*
i remember doing an update and so my play is .285 build. if i do a hard reset will the build change?
i'm interested in rooting my att phone but from what i've read, i cannot do this without changing the firmware (ie downgrading).
i've already tried the suponeclick and another form of 1 click root and none of them work.
Did I stump the experts?
When you do a factory reset the build number remains to what you are current using. If you flash another version, it will become that version. It is kind of obvious.
To achieve what you're trying to do:
Downgrade your firmware version, either use flashtool to flash this tft, or flash back to a stock 2.3.3 firmware: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1591398
Turn on USB Debugging and use SuperOneClick to root: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=803682
Download CWM Installer version 5 from here to install CWM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1437840
(To get into CWM, keep pressing the Volume down button when the see the Sony logo on boot.)
(Note that since you have a locked bootloader you will not be able to install custom roms so do not attempt it until you unlocked it, however you can install the NXT rom.)

thanks and appreciate the help. my apologies if it's pretty obvious. this has been my first android phone.

Perform step 1 because SuperOneClick won't work on stock 2.3.4. Here is the guide, however use the tft file from the link I posted previously: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2054486
CWM is clockworkmod recovery, but nevermind if you don't intend to use it. It's only for flashing custom rom and kernel, but you need to unlock your bootloader before you can do that.

Hello there,
I got a little problem with my smarthpone.
Well, I unlocked the bootloader and rooted my phone to get a custom Rom from here .
I did it without any problems and it worked , but I want to go back to stock rom, and I don't know how to.
For some reason the Hatsune Miku app won't install either, if it even possible I'm happy with custom rom, but it won't work, like I said before
I got TWRP recovery mod, CWM won't install, I tried it several times.
If I flash the kernel= loop
If I do Flashmode= won't work because no flash driver(?)
Any help would be appreciated, thank you so much!
Thank you so much and I hope that the thread does not exist...

You can use FlashTool to flash the stock ROM for your device.
You can download the stock ROM from [ion] Stock Firmware Downloads.
Here's the FlashTool Guide

Hello, thanks for the reply.
I have downloaded the firmware I needed and I also installed the Flashtool.
My problem is I can't get the flash driver to install the firmware.
If you flash your device you see a green LED and the Flashtool will do the rest, as far as I know.
I have installed the additional drivers in the flashtool (Flashmode driver and Fastboot driver), but didn't work.
Any suggestion, you may have?

The flashtool gives no error.
I can't boot in flashmode from my device.
The green LED does not appear, that mans if I connect the USB and click the volume down button, no reaction from my device.
