[Q] Photo recovery using titanium backup - Epic 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Apparently, somewhere along the line, my photos are gone from my gallery. I still have pictures that I took for contacts, so I assume the pics are somewhere on the phone. Can I use Titanium Backup to restore the photos or use a photo recovery program?
Thank you.

If the pics are still on your SD card, try clearing data and cache for the gallery and reboot.

The pictures for your contacts are actually sync'd with your google account. So the pictures don't even need to be on your phone, unless you don't have all your contacts sync'd to your google account.

I could use help with this too. Photos gone, but I have 1 or 2 recent complete Titanium backups in the cloud. I tried dragging all contents of one of the backups to the Titanium Backup folder of the phone's SD card, and restoring the Gallery app, but no photos. Thoughts?
Thanks.

Location of Contacts Pictures?

Does anyone know where they are stored?, when you take a picture of someone and use it as a contact picture, I know it doesn't use the original photo.
It must use a low res version and save it to a location on the phone/sd card somewhere?

hi i think the pictures are just cached and not stored, and redownloaded every time you sync if they are stored they will prob be somewhere in /system/customise
Hi thanks for the reply, so If I were to format the phone back to factory settings and I backed up my contacts would the pictures be saved with the contact backup that you export to the sd card?
If not then how would I backup my contacts pictures?

if you save a contact as a sim contact i think you have to manually back up your pictures, but if its saved as a google contact, it automatically backed up to the google servers, hence the low quality, google resize it so there not too big

backup of contacts

I want to backup my contacts (with their photos) to sdcard and/or online, what is the best app for this?
I think you will have to sync the contacts with Gmail or take a .csv file backup from MS Outlook. Not sure about the exact method, but something like this is explained in detail at Motorola Site.
You could try the App Backup Contacts

Log in to the gmail account you used to get the market going and all the contacts with photos are there
is there any app that backup the contacts and all the link configuration between them?

titanium backup is good
When I sync to Google and then back to my phone there's always some data missing. MyBackup gets my contacts back exactly as they were.

Tiny, blurry contact pictures.

Anybody know how to make the contact pictures imported from facebook any better? Also, how do you get your own facebook picture to show up? When someone calls me the pictures look terrible compared to my old Inspire.
Use the contact-sync app.
I installed it.

I installed it from the market. I selected the largest possible pictures 720. Still no change.
Google plus will pull in your profile picture. I don't know of a way to pull in your own Facebook picture.
That was actually considered undesirable in the Galaxy S II forum, the mod to remove yourself from the contacts was popular.

first add your hi res pics into your phone album, then edit the contact picture by picking it from "Images".

Was going to say this. When your done, go into TBU and backup contact storage and do a nandroid. You will always have them. That is where it is stored. I delete the contact sync apk from a ROM before booting after a flash. It stops Google from screwing with the pics.
When I restore contacts, I extract from nandroid in tbu? Choose contact storage and only restore data. Do not restore app. Reboot and contacts are perfect.

Dropbox synced with Samsung account using internal memory.

Does anyone know a way to have Dropbox synced with your Samsung account without using internal memory. I like being able to select gallery and see the Dropbox pics there instead of having to go to the Dropbox app everytime. When I look on my S4 gallery, all of my Dropbox pics are shown. When you go to storage on the Note, gigabytes of data are taken up by the Cloud. Please help if anyone knows!!

[Q] Photos on Google Backup

Hi Guys,
My USB port failed recently on my Note 2 so had no way of fully backing up my phone via my PC, however I did sync with Samsung and Google before it went off for repair. When it came back everything seemed to restore Ok but I have noticed that my backed up photos all seem to reside in a folder called Autobackup and are all low res versions.
I don't know much about this and sort of assumed that my pictures would be restored automatically to the folder they were originally in and at the same quality?
I can't find the Autobackup folder through file manager and I can't seem to do anything with the pictures via gallery.
How can I get the full res pictures back?
Your help is much appreciated
Neil
They are in cloud...when you press it and want to use them... they get downloaded on device.. try setting a pic as wallpaper.. you will understand
You can get them all on device..you have to go to settings in google photos app

Thanks for your help and pointing me in the right direction. To get them back on my phone I downloaded them from the Google+ photos page. Come down as Zip files and to my relief they were all full size
