Re: Need help
1.) Are you on a ROM? Which ROM?
2.) What app? Is it one app or all apps causing this issue?
3.) So you have the 32gb sgs3?
4.) Have you done any mods that mess with your storage?

Re: Need help
I'm guessing you're rooted? Apps like Titanium Backup or Adaway may cause this issue. Go into any root browser app and in the root directory go into /data/app/ and delete any .odex files you may see and then reboot the phone. That should fix the issue.

There isn't any of those folders it's not working
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
There are always /data/app and /system/app folders in the root directory of your ROM so make sure to use a root browser to view them and first go into /data/app/ and look for any. odex files and delete them. That usually does fix the problem you're having.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda premium
Here's a screenshot example of what you should be looking for and deleting. My Battery Reborn apk has an odex file attached to it

There's no folder data/app there's system /app but closes when I open
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
The only way you'll only see /system/app is if you're looking in the rom.zip file. You must already be on the ROM you're having issues with and then you MUST see /data/app because that is where all your user installed apps are located. So 1)Flash the ROM you're having app issues with and 2) Install and open any root browser like the one in Rom Toolbox and you'll see /data/app.

OP, buy the app. Stop using app license generators. That will fix the problem.

Sent from my SPH-D700 using xda premium
using a file manager(i use root explorer)go to /data/app. this is where all market and side loaded apks are installed. long press the app you wish to move and when menu pops up select move. then back out(do not back out of manager) and goto /system/app and paste here. restart. i like to fix permisions when i restart but may not be neccesary.
thanks i dobt have to set permissions just fix correct

Good luck with that. I've tried for days to do that. Some you can just rename them in root explorer. Some won't work if you do. I've torn apart apks and can't find it any place.

Where do you guys get that option just tried in two diff apps to open a pic, and it just says gallery.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using xda premium
Install root explorer or ES explorer. It will give you the option to open files with these programs. Once you have them you can also use root access to apps for adjustments to the files.

one spot you can change the name is /res/values/strings.xml another is in the android manifest but it needs to be decompiled.

Unzip the ROM you used on your phone, and look under /system/app folder for the apk.

+1 and then move it to your current /system/app and make sure you set permissions to -rw-r--r-- (0644) and reboot your phone.

You won't find it in the folder on your phone. Get a ROM zip and extract the whole 600+ MB file. You'll find it there.
Since you are on stock, look for stock ROM zip. Should be in one of the threads under development.

I'm on the July 16th version of Carbon ROM, it's 4.2.2. I do not like the android keyboard it uses and none of the solutions on the carbon thread have worked for me. I've also done a bit of googling but it didn't help. I'm looking for the stock samsung keyboard my phone came with out of the box. If you help me get it on my phone, you will be rewarded with $5 PayPal if you please. Thanks

Copy this to /system/app using es file explorer ( with root permissions ). Reboot into recovery and fix permissions. Should work.

I didn't download it but if that's just SamsungIME.apk it week not work (which is what he wants). First, there are a couple libs and alert app needed just for SamsungIME. Second, it needs TW Framework which is where the real problem lies.

Bummer. Disregard then. It is the samsung ime apk. Didn't realize it was so integrated. Lib files can easily be copied, but if it's integrated into the framework, that's a whole other beast.
He may want to look at installing swipe or smart keyboard instead.

Swype and the other just aren't the same for me. It's a shame because carbon has so much to offer. Might have to switch back to Jedi or something. I wish I started off on a different keyboard because I'm so used to this one.

Hey guys, quick question. Does anyone know a fix yet for CyanogenMods nice little bug where it likes to completely ignore the system/media folder? Besides that the newest nightly is running flawlessly so far. I've tried hooking up to pc, ran many media scanners, a few root browsers, and still come up with nothing. I can see them in CWM but nothing else. All .nomedia's have been looked over as well. Kinda stumped on this one.

Or at least have an idea how to keep them from disappearing when flashing to it from another rom? Either solution would work.

system/media shows the same files as /data/media apparently on mine, but yep after looking through the browser data/media seems to have them without having to look through CWM (like I had to with system). So how do I go about making CM actually see that this folder exists?

mnt/shell/emulated has the same files as /data/media though. Or so it appears. Basically looks like an exact copy.

I'm kind messed up with the kk stuff but.... CM/ASOP ROMs create an 0 folder and that's where CWM looks for files if you've flashed CM. Have you tried a stock rom to find the files?

Ok. You should have an "0" folder. If not create one in root of SD. Copy files to it, then see if cwm will see them. It should.

Basically all my personal files, music, pictures, backups, etc. Have just vanished from galleries and such when I switched to CM. I can physically see all the files on CWM but absolutely can not on any root browser or...well, anywhere. So in a nutshell, just trying to access all my stuff.

So you can see the files in ClockworkMod recovery? Interesting way to look for them.
Stock and CM roms will not let you see them.
If you go back to stock, you should be able to access them. I'm not sure why you can't in CM.

Went through and kept combining folders. Made the 0 at the root of the SD and kinda pushed everything into it. Still wasn't showing. So I went through each individual folder and for some reason each one had a sub folder named just like it. So in each one I went in and boom all the files. Moved them out of the sub and now they're showing up! No idea why they put it in there but oh well. Thanks for the advice!
