The 3-dot is the hTC Sense default feature for most hTC devices, you can change/remove it by going to Settings - Display, gestures & buttons - Recent apps button and pick your choice :
1. Always open recent apps - where you will have that 3dot menu
2. Press for menu, press and hold for recent apps - self explanatory, no 3dot
3. Press for recent apps, press and hold for menu - self explanatory, no 3dot

So I just installed the hydrogen ICS Rom, and i noticed that the ROM doesn't have a recent apps (Long pressing the home key). Is there a way to add that function? Like the sense 4 multitasking..
Nevermind, I found a way, by going to Settings > ROM Control > Nav Bar > Enable long press home menu
If you look at the screenshot of Dolphin browser there is a black bar with 3 dots on it.
I'm not sure what made it appear, but its functionality is:
1) open settings for some applications (dolphin, golauncher).
2) not do anything for some applications even though it shows up.
3) annoys the crap out of me because I want it gone. It blocks a big amount of screen.
I don't know what caused it to appear, I've never seen it before. I was updating my phone and installing some applications when I suddenly noticed it.
Edit:
Attachment is not showing up for me so here's an upload on tinypic: http://i50.tinypic.com/equt75.png
That's the 3-dot menu button.
Go to Settings - Display, gestures & buttons - Recent apps button
and pick either Press for menu, press and hold for recent apps
or Press for recent apps, press and hold for menu
I personally use the second one, long press the recent apps button will bring up the menu

You'll see it in apps that haven't been optimised for ICS (or higher) yet. On phones without a hardware menu key, correctly coded apps will display an overflow button somewhere on their action bar to access the menu. Apps which haven't been coded in this way need some other method of accessing the menu - phones with on-screen buttons (like the nexus range) display a menu button beside the other buttons, we obviously can't do that so HTC chose to stick a massive menu bar across the bottom of the screen. As already pointed out you can reassign the menu function to the 'recent apps' key which will hide the menu bar, or you can pester the devs of those apps to do things properly in future.
Oh my god. Thanks guys!
I looked everywhere but couldn't fix it!
What it does:
This mod gets rid of the three dots and replaced your recent apps to a menu button instead... You usually see this when you open like Facebook. These dots seem to get bothersome with taking away .5" of your screen. Just flash this and you will get full screen on facebook and other apps.
ATTENTION: FOR A PERSECT INSTALLATION AND NO FAILURE FOLLOW THIS.. IT MOUNTS TO BUSY BOX
1. MAKE SURE YOU ARE ROOTED, S-OFF-ED, twrp recovery.
2. Download busybox from playstore and install it https://play.google.com/store/apps/...ce=google&utm_medium=organic&utm_term=busybox
3. Reboot into recovery and try to flash.

Some pictures would be nice to see exactly what this does.
Also changing the recent apps buttons to the menu button is built in.
Settings-> Display, gestures & buttons -> recent apps button.

Yes you are right. Basically no need for this mod since sense 4.0

Hi,
I suddenly got a weird error after updating to the latest version of Ice Cold Jelly (IceColdJelly422 - 2.9.5 - Jellybean 4.2.2_r1).
The "settings" button is missing from several applications. Not so easy to explain without a picture, but I am missing the three horizontal lines at the top right corner of all apps, where you can bring up the settings tab. I noticed it first after having installed the latest Google Play (beta).
Best Regards
Try pressing the menu button (rightmost capacitive key)
Also you can enable the on screen button by going to settings > RC > general ui > show menu ui overflow.

Hello,
The problem is that in all apps I have no acces to basic settings.
For example in a wheather app I can change from F degrees to C. Or in Titanium Backup i can change the folder where the backup should be stored because i can not even find the settings menu.
Is like I would have a dedicated button for settings like in Samsung.
Am I missing something ?
Are you looking for 3dot menu?

If the 3dot menu is hidden then those menu's are most of the time set under the recent apps soft touch button
Yes, the 3dot menu.
What do you mean under the recent apps button ? On that button I have ... well recent apps.
Should I have choosen some option from aroma to have a settings burton instead of last apps ?

Don't know if the aroma of SD holds that option, but maybe its in settings itself somewhere, many times its set up like this :
short press recent apps button = options menu
long press recent apps button = recent apps menu
did you check out the sd thread ?
Short press is latest apps. It doesnt matter if in app or anywhere else. Long press is .. nothing.
I can not post in the thread, not enough post. And I have read the last pages and nobody reporter such problem. And there are a lot pages to read all de thread.
You have to go to phone settings then screen or so and then you can choose the the thing which opens when you use the recent apps button...short press menu and long is recent app and also reboot then after choosing it should work ...you also don't need to read the thread fully just try to use the search...
