mod- vol-up (next track) vol-down (previous track) - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note II

Anybody know if this can be implemented on a rooted yet not modded phone? I really missed the ability from my previous android phone running CM (OG EVO 4G) where I could hold the volume up key to have it jump to the next track and volume down for previous track. I am not interested in running modded kernels or roms since the battery life and functionality are fine stock. But I would like to have this mod if its possible.
Thanks!

Its an option in power amp

Yeah some players still support it. I use player pro and it works great.

This is what I use and it works with stock music player.. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1629653

[Q] How to link notification volume with ringtone volume on ICS builds.

As I said in the title, I was wondering if there was any way to link the two volumes together.
In gingerbread roms, I always used the app Volume Control +, which worked just fine and dandy. However on all roms for ICS (Except AOKP and CM9, which have it included in the volume settings) this app doesn't seem to work anymore, because the notification volume still stays where it is when I hit the volume rockers.
Anybody know of a different app that works for ICS roms on our phone? Or any other way to accomplish this? Any help will be appreciated.
I want this too please...
I was just about to make a thread on this until I decided to search. And same things apply. It worked in 2.3.x and AOKP had it incorporated in the ROM.
*sigh*
This is the biggest urk for me. I'm so used to changing my volume with the volume buttons. I'll have it low and get a text and it's all loud. -_-

I'm reviving this thread now that all E4GT'ers will soon be on ICS - would really like to know if anyone has a way to link Ringer and Notification volume. None of the Play Store apps seem to support this on ICS because apparently they are linked in ICS on every other phone except Samsung's.

Speaker volume and 4.1.1

Just wondering if the speaker volume has been increased at all with the AOSP 4.1.1 ROM?

I am not sure but I had the same issue on GNex and used Volume+ app from the market and it works wonderfully. Hope this helps.

The volume in JB (in my experience) is the same as ICS... i.e. WAY too low. Volume+ worked on ICS, but it has not bee updated for JB and currently does not work. If anyone knows of something that does, please tell me as the current volume for the speaker is almost unusably low. :crying:

You can try this ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1738197
It has the AwesomeBeats Mod by Awesome. OR you can try some of the Sound Enhancement MOD for JellyBean under the GNEX Themes & Apps section.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the tip but I would like to stick to the stock ROM, I'm WAY too lazy these days to play the ROM update game - that's why I bought a Nexus... so I'd have pure Google without having to mess with ROMs.
I will have a look at the mods/etc though, cheers.
I should point out that Volume+ apparently works for most things, but not notifications/phone rings which is mainly what I used it for.
It's almost the same with previous ICS, that's my opinion. Not sure about other though.

Music player suggestions?

The stock music player works fine for me. The thing is, and maybe it has some sort of option and I just don't know about it, but when I go out for my walks, I hate having to reach down and taking the phone out of the case from my waist to skip to the next song or replay the last song.
So I was wondering if there were any options that would allow me to maybe use the volume up down buttons or the buttons on the built in mic/volume control on the Samsung headset that came with the phone to do this?
Thank you,
Whiteice
First off, are you rooted?
If yes, then you can try FreeGS3 ROM[/UR], it's close to stock with many tweaks including the vol up/down mod to change songs. Was looking for a flashable zip in the dev section but couldn't find one.

Yes, I am rooted.
Thank you for the suggestion. I will look into it. If you happen to come across a flashable zip for the stock rom on root, please do let me know.
With all the flashing of different roms on my Nexus 7 recently, I am burnt out right now flashing roms. I just got this phone and getting used to it, so im not looking into roms, not just yet, but eventually sure. Plus, being on Sprint, word is the JB update is coming out soon so I don't want to flash a rom then JB comes out.
Regardless, thank you,
Whiteice
Poweramp has good reviews, not free however.. they do have a trial version though.
I've been using Player Pro for a couple years now, nice interface and cool widgets and lock screen options. They have a week trial you can use, that's how they got me

Speaker volume is very low in Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean

Hello Guys,
Can you guys please go to the following link and star that problem, to see if Google can do something about correcting this issue.
this low volume is the biggest complaint about staying stock.
http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=35084
Why not just use Franco kernel and use volume boost... I just hate filing complaints.
-tapped from my paradigm Franco kernel Galaxy nexus
I have the same problem with a nexus galaxy with jellybean 4.1.1
I found a soluction in web that talk of change a string in system\build.prop
"ro.config.vc_call_vol_steps=" and change its value to 10.
But my problem is that in my build.prop the string there isn't.
How i can solve the low volume on my nexus?
Volume+ (volume boost) don't work, it crash at start
Bump!
If any of you guys have time, please Star that topic.
I know it can easily be fixed via rooting the device or what not.
But i'm kind of over the whole rooting scene in a way and just want to stay stock.
but it bugs me that if my nexus is in my pocket or if im not in a quiet room i can barely hear anything.
i also emailed the google play support team, hopefully they will reply.
i've owned way too many google devices for them to just ignore us like that.
best believe if this issue is not resolved via software update, sad to say but i will be switching over to ios.
reply back from Google Play.
I guess they cant do anything about it.. This sucks.
Hi JC,
Thanks for your response back. I can understand how annoying it can be to
experience low volume on your phone device and having to wait for the
development team to come out with an OTA to fix the issue. Unfortunately,
this information isn't available to us since it's being handled by the
Android development team. I recommend you report the issue directly to the
development team. Here's how you can report platform bugs:
http://developer.android.com/support.html
There is also a chance that the issue might be something Samsung might be
able to either repair or perform a replacement for; depending on how long
you've had your device. If you'd like, you're welcome to give us a call
and we can see if this will help. I'm providing a link to our click to
call below:

If you have any other questions or concerns, please reply back to this
email and I'll be happy to help further.

Jay

If you are just referring to Music / Video audio volume you might want to check out this app.. I haven't tried it.. I'm running CM10 which sounds great...
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=mobi.omegacentauri.SpeakerBoost&hl=en
I can understand the stock mentality but with a couple adjustments you will get a better than stock - stock experience...
Personally If I wanted to stock-ish, I would flash the stock rom, root, install trinitystable35 kernel, install trickster mod, adjust headphone volume only and then set superuser to deny any root attempt by default without a prompt...

If you wanted to add that to your build.prop, you could download Build Prop Editor from the Playstore, create a key named ro.config.vc_call_vol_steps, and give it the value 10. At your own risk, of course.
Do they even test this stuff? It's beyond unacceptable to have a speaker this inaudible. Makes me want to throw my phone every time I try to watch a video.
I added my two cents to the link.

Download to computer. Extract with 7zip. Move entire media folder to sd and replace/merge current media folder. Might get warning staying device cannot play some files. Ignore. They work.

Weird. I have better than average volume on everything and haven't modified anything other than putting CM10. Might it be a specific version?

Cyanogenmod is the Way...
I also has got version 4.2.1 and I stock ROM is just fine for me, I never liked CM, but I have got root. A have got problem with volume too, do not hear SMS in my pocket at all.
I did not find the solution, Volume+ boost app still do not work with JB (hopefully will work soon) and Speaker Boost still "stop working", even the old versions.
So, do you know any other solution?
JB 4.1.1 Low volume issue resolved - at lease for me
i had the same issue when i upgraded my stock S3 to 4.1 -- the speaker volume was very low in Nav and music players.
Increasing the "Media" volume fixed it for me.
click on the volume button (up or down) and then click on the settings icon at the end of the slider. Now slide the "Media" volume to the highest.
Everything is back to normal -- in nav audio and speaker phone etc.
If you have not already tried this, you can give it a try ... it might fix it!

I don'tknow what else to try. hopefully it will be fixed in the next night builds......full speakerphone volume soundslikeit's coming from the headsetat full volume.... and the headset volume at full is barely audible even in s quiet room. I turned on the boost in strings but it did nothing. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

[Q] Expandable Volume

Hello!
I'm wondering wether it is possible to get expandable volume settings while pressing the volume buttons on the Z1c.
On my old Xperia Miro this was possible with an unofficial CM build, which was really pretty btw.
Since there is still no official or unoffical stable CM build for the Z1c (well, I didn't find any) I tried Xposed Framework with the Expandables Volume package. Unfortunately every running app crashed when pressing either of the volume buttons. Description said that it is extracted from gravitybox, hence only working with vanilla android, which Z1c doesn't have. It was worth a try :/
So, does anybody know how to get this awesome feature on this awesome smartphone?
Any help appreciated. Thank you!
Gravitybox kitkat works partly with sony stock kitkat rom. In my case expandable volume does not crash any apps.
Thanks! Volume and other great stuff works great except the battery in the notification bar. It doesn't show the percentage and level anymore. Look at the screenshot. Any way to fix this? I don't want the other battery modes. I like the stock the most :/

or if you are rooted you could flash this in recovery.

Alright, I found the solution in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=51371499&postcount=5720
Simply set stock battery and the text size to "smallest".
GB is great! :good:
@thermalboyz: thanks anyway! :good:
