Fixed Camera.apk 11/04/11

Maybe you haven't noticed, but the stock camera.apk that comes with the Epic Touch is broken. You are given the option to create shortcuts within the camera app itself. These shortcut appear on the left side of the screen and give you access to features like, effects or resolution ect.
On the stock camera.apk, you can set up the shortcuts without any problems, however, these shortcuts son't survive a reboot of the phone. In fact, these preferences don't even survive switching back and forth between the camera and video camera.
This drives me crazy because I use my camera all the time for my blog and I hate having to set it up every time I launch the camera. So I decided to try and pull the camera.apk from the international Galaxy S 2. Low and behold it worked, perfectly.
Now, my preferences will even survive a reboot. This doesn't address the 1080p recording issue of cropping but I happy that I don't have to set up my camera settings, every time I use the camera.
This camera.apk is silenced, meaning that there is no "focus" beep.
I did theme the icon to match my ROM but that's it.
Just flash with CW and this will replace the current camera.apk. Be sure to back up your current version in case you desire to go back.

If you set up shortcut and then reboot your phone, what happens? The shortcuts are removed and you have place them again. They are supposed to stick.

I don't believe so. This is basically a stock camera app from the international Galaxy S2.

Yeah this issue could be due to being odex.
Rob have u tried the pure stock camera apk?

hi i was wondering if you could get this to work on ics like ff18 or something because yours is the only one that has the save as flipped image option on it which i really need but it doesn't work on ics .

My camera is working fine, switched between video and camera. then rebooted. The edits I made stayed just fine.

What? You can't port everything from V. The V camera, except for all those fancy stuff, is basically just like T one. This port has many V libs, and HDR is just in auto mode. It will improve quality.
How it isn't for anyone?

Not for everyone due to bugs maybe

I also would love the original V one, mainly because of the separate HDR mode, still, make do with CyberShot 4.7.2 for now though

well, i found one, it works but HDR not included. The superior auto and picture effect work. By the way, the 3D camera cannot be found after flash it.......

clear the cache?

Try removing semccamera.apk and the 3d one out from /system/app and place them at /system. Reboot then place them back at /system/app. Worked for me

Horizontal, vertical, horizontal... What ? You mean you are having auto rotation problem with the camera ? You can try any camera apk of stock ROM that's ics themed, move to system/app and set permissions rw--r--r--.

Bro don't use apktool fir modding camera.. Use vr themer and then extract the app from system/app..

So you have a moded cam to share ?

If you modify the apk open the apk with 7-zip and
Copy paste all modded/compiled files except androidmanifest.xml inside the 7-zip openen camera.apk
If that goes well u wont have a FC in camera
Ive done this a lot of times

May be the photosphere stiching is a bug. That is because its a leak and not offical.
But the new interface looks cool

You can use balli's mod for photosphere camera and gallery where u can see full 360 view of image clicked from camera

I was about to make a thread myself about this.
Anyone getting the "Application not Installed" message while installing this like a normal apk, follow the steps:
-> Take a backup of Gallery2.apk (from /system/app) using a root explorer.
-> Delete Gallery2.apk from /system/app.
-> Install the new apk like a normal app.
Tested on CM10.1.
Only thing missing imo - no feature to use External SD card as the storage for camera.

I have tried using photo sphere on 4.1.2 but to my badluck it didnt work perfectly alwaz some prob in stitching ....
But when I installed 4.2.2 and tried to use the same photosphere application on new operating system .... its just worked brilliantly ... 10/10

These are great for that fake kit kat feel. However I haven't seen the new dialer anywhere, does anyone have the new phone apk and other files necessary to make it work or is it not possible to get it to work on older ROMs.

Hi thanks for your effort, but... I dont know how to choice permission to write system folder, it is only read!
EDIT
solved whit root explorer, but no work photosphere....

In launcher, apps that's on SD card disappear from folder after reboot, and folders can contain only 16 apps, however I read it can handle more.
