This is an ongoing problem for me and it's definitely not ROM related, but it makes flashing ROM's difficult, in fact downright awkward!
When installing apps from TB it will get through a couple then reboot, at which point nothing will install until I repair my ext partition (Thank God for AmonRA!). Then it will do the same thing again. It will do the same thing with installing apps from the market too, but it's not so pronounced as I don't tend to install loads of apps at once especially as I've got TB.
I found that TB worked fine with CM7 as it didn't install to the ext partition until I flashed DarkTremors aps2sd, and that worked fine as a way round the problem.
None of this happened until I upgraded my 8Gb to 16Gb sd card. The card seems fine in every respect, just the problem with installing aps :-(
Anyone with any ideas?
My previous thread on disabling aps2sd has not proved fruitful either.

Before I upgraded my pathetic 2gb I done a little research and the word on the street was the hero couldn't handle more than 8gb, recommended by HTC apparently!
Whether this was due to the limitations of the rom(1.6 at the time) or the hardware I don't know.
Have you tried re-formatting your SD card and making sure the ext partion is compatible with the rom your using?

Yeah I've reformatted and reformatted, initially I thought that the problem mgiht have been the backup files had become corrupt when transfering them over ... and yes I've tried ext2 ext3 and ext4 all with the same results (the only rom i tried which wasn't compatible with ext4 was Cronos).
Maybe its true about 8gb being the limit the hero can handle, maybe someone else can confirm or deny.
I'm sure I've seen some on here using 16Gb cards, but it would be good to know, maybe I should change to the Froyo aps2sd?
Maybe you could try doing a nandroid backup, and trying a different rom to see if it works, if not you could have a faulty SD card???
I a, using a 16 Gb card without problems, I always do a full wipe of my phone and a format of my card before flashing a new Rom. I use the aps2sc within the rom and make sure that the settings are right (install to external) before I use titanium.

The max htc Hero should handle would be 32gb I believe. According to link 1, htc hero supports SD 2.0. While SD 2.0 is also called SDHC, which according to link 2 its max is 32gb
Maybe you should try to pull /proc/last_kmsg to see why it rebooted? (post it at pastebin.org, and place url here. Maybe we can understand it )

Yeah I'm really confused as those were my settings also and I tried in on Elelinux 6.2 ... I think it must be either my Hero had a bad day it was born or the sd card did, but it always comes up clean when scanned.

16gb card here, use TB all the time and nadroid as well and never had a problem. Maybe your card has some faulty sectors. Try to copy 16gb on it on the PC and copy it back to your pc after you've made sure nothing was cached. Or try scandisk to see if a part of the flash is broken, maybe.
Using a cheap ebay-bought Team 16GB Class6 with TB, flashing and nandroids. No issues whatsoever. Works great!
I've scanned the disk multiple times, not tried a full 16gb transfer ... and I'll get the log output in a minute or two
output of /proc/last_kmsg

Thanks in advance!
Edit: It got to installing around 15apps this time before crashing. It varies as to when it dies, but it will. I even considered that it was overheating, or due to OC'ing, but it does the same thing regardless of temp or CPU speed
i also use 16gb sd card for 3 or 4 months and nothing ever happens like that. everything works perfect...
Have a feeling that it's corrupt, as I have a new problem with installing anything, I now get told there's not enough room to install or updates apps ... when there's plenty ... arrrgggg!
if 16gb isn't working for you, send the card to me. I have a working 2gb you can have instead.

Haha that's really funny.
Actually I ran some scans, fsck's and reformats with repair options, and if it wasn't for the reboot issue and instability issues I have with Elelinux 7.0.3 then I'm sure I've got it fixed... I hope ...

My girlfriend got the HTC Wildfire S for MetroPCS a couple of weeks ago. It is a nice phone except for one little problem: The internal memory is crap. She has exactly 5 apps installed, all are moved to SD, and she has 7.14 MB or internal memory free. It is running the stock 2.3 Rom rooted. I need some help figuring out what to do. Before you guys make suggestions let me list what I have already done:
1. S-OFF and rooted, removed all bloatware, which moved it from 3.21 MB to 8 MB which seems like BS because a few of those apps were about 6 MB in size.
2. Moved apps to SD card partially in the applications menu in settings.
3. Cleaned caches
4. Uninstalled almost every application.
This is very frustrating because she cant update apps, she cant download apps, and it is frustrating because I have the old Huawei Ascend on CM7 and I have more apps and am faster than her phone, its ridiculous, I also wonder why after removing over 60MB or crap and bloatware it freed up about 7MB. Makes no sense. I don't want to do DT's app2sd script yet because she doesn't have a way to back up her stuff before the partition of the SD card. If anyone can explain another way or something I can do to fix this please..... It would be greatly appreciated.
Use Partition Wizard Home (Free) to resize your FAT32 partition and create your Ext(whatever your kernel supports) partition on a windows machine.
No need to back up. Doesn't destroy partitions.
My preference is Link2SD free from the market.
You can mass move your apps, dalvik cache and library files to the Ext(Probably Ext2 with stock rom kernel) from the SD card and internal to your Ext partition very easy.
Also you can set it up to auto do this when new apps are installed and choose which apps you want to keep fully internal for faster booting, startup, etc.

If your card is corrupt and can't be read try a program like Recuva on the PC (free) to get your files from it.

1/ Fat32
2/ A Primary not a Logical partition
3/ Make it the Active partition

solved it finally...it was a simple step...i had to make a partition in the sd card through cwm and give the swap size as 0..finally its working..thanks for ur support guys!!
No Luck For Me
I believe it may just be a hardware issue I am having. But maybe someone can point me out to something helpful.
I put the card in, it is not recognized, by either the phone, or by CWM
With the phone on, and in 'Settings' -> 'SD & Phone Storage', the card does not appear. I slowly pull the card out, and 'Mount SD' & 'Erase SD Card' both go from unavailable (greyed out), to full on available and White for a split second. After that nothing...
It does this with 3 different cards. an 8G Class 4, a 2G Class 10, and a 2G Class 4
I've contacted HTC about it, but who knows when they'll get back to me. Anyone here know of a solution?

It's as if the contacts inside the phone are screwed up. Like I said, when I pull the card out of the phone, while in the settings, it recognizes it on the way out for a split second.
I've been trying for the last half-hour to try to get it right to that point where it flashes the 'mount' to white... but I must just have goofy thumbs, because I can't quite get it...

Hi!
I need some help because I already tried all ways, and I'm not able to solve this problem.
I installed a new SD card in my Desire with 16 gb (class 10). I did the instalation of a CM10 custom Rom, like I had in the previous card (2 Gb). Everything was installed with no problems, including the a2sd (I made a partition of 1gb sd-ext with cyanogenmod recovery).
Well, the apps are beeing installed, and the internal memory isn't increasing, so the a2sd is running good, but the phone is allways freezing and rebooting. When it reboots, it freezes on reboot. I have to pull the battery out. This is happening all the time... I already tried several CM10 roms, and I have the same problem.
Can I have some help?

I forgot to say that I already tried your method. Partition Sdcard with 4ext recovery. The only thing that I didn't try was use another app to sd script, because I was not able to delete the a2sd script that comes with the Rom. I did install mounts2sd, but it says that another script was in use.
What brand? I had a similar problem with a Sandisk 32GB. It was so frustrating I've given up on it and gone back to my 16GB Kingston (or was it Adata?). I still need to get around to an RMA on the Sandisk. If you can I would try returning/exchanging it.

If you can plug in to a PC and enable USB debugging, then 'adb logcat' might show something?
Hi,
I've used a sandinsk 16gb class 10 for a year with a2sd and haven't any problems.
Now I'm using a cyanogen rom (CronMod) with int2ext and a Samsung 16gb class 10 and it's benn running cool for more than a year.
Maybe it's a hardware problem (not brand problem I think), or maybe a partitioning problem. I've always format the sd card from a linux system.
Hope you can solve it.

Hello there everyone!
I recently got a Tab S 8.4 (t-700) with 16 GB, and found out that the internal storage is not enough when you want a decent amount of apps and games. My question is that any of you got Link2SD working (without a custom ROM)? I rooted my tab and then put TWRP recovery (I wanted CWM, but haven't found it for this tab) on it, partitioned my 32 GB Samsung SD card (1st partition ~24 GB FAT32, 2nd partition ~8 GB ext2/ext3/ext4 (tried all of them) with EaseUS Partition Master, and MiniTool (tried both of them)), and all I get from Link2SD is "Mount Script cannot be created. mount: Invalid argument). Does anybody know how to solve this? I tried partitioning with TWRP but I get "device not found" error when I try to start the partitioning, even thought the SD card is mounted and FIle manager can use it. I also tried to look for this problem on the googles and the forums, but 90 % of threads are +2 years old and not really helpful.
Every bit of help is appreciated.
I am on iron rom which is an stock based rom with a few mods. I formatted my sd by going to into settings>general>storage and scroll down till you see format sd. Of course i didnt need to do that as my sd card was already working. Hope this helps
Thank you for your response, but my question was not how to format my SD card. The SD works fine if I want to use it normally without partitioning. I want to make it work with Link2SD.
Doing this worked for me. I formatted my sd with this and it worked fine with linktosd but I have no idea why yours wont work. Sorry
Formatting the SD card in the settings will create a single FAT32 partition on the card. What I'm trying to do is make 2 partitions on the SD card (which I have already done), and mount one with Link2SD, because most apps won't work or move a very little amount of Data to the SD when it's normally formatted. Link2SD has the ability to mount an ext2-3-4 formatted partition, so the apps work with it. I just can't figure it out why it won't work with mine, and asking if other people who has tried the Mounting method has any experience. The "native" method of moving apps to the SD with Link2Sd does a different thing and that's not what I'm trying to accomplish.
EDIT:
Here is a relatively old guide of what I'm trying to do: LINK
Hey, im also having that same problem with my tab s 8.4, i have tried creating ext2, 3 and 4, and even fat32, but none works, did you manage to find a way to make it work??
thankss
Did you ever get Link2SD working? I had it working on my Asus TF700 by using GParted to partion my sd card and everything worked perfectly. Do not know what the difference is but everyone said I had to use GParted.
Just create an ext2 partition on your sd card and link2sd will detect it. I've had it working with link2sd plus.
What's the problem?

You need to use the latest version from play.
I'm already using the latest version of Link2Sd but still not working.
I am also looking into using an SD card to move apps to via Link2SD....also on a Samsung Galaxy Tab S (10.1 wifi version)
Good to know someone tried this recently
Have you tried using gparted to partition the SD card? A lot of the stuff I ran into online recommends this as the partitioning tool. I have worked with linux before doing more "advanced" stuff like this with android and it's a great tool for many platforms (also it works, unlike other partitioning programs I have used prior to it)
Will keep checking back here and will also let you know what happens when/if I try to do this...

@therajatshahare: I was able to use Link2SD with two different SD cards. ON both of them, I was able to use Link2SD to move the app + lib + dex files of several applications (including several games and Facebook) to and from the SD card with no issue.
The only issue I had was when I unmounted my previous SD card (because it wasn't partitioned), two of my apps did not work and I had to reinstall them through Google Play.
I also bought the full version of Link2SD so that I can move even the app data to and from the SD cards as needed
@ashyx: Also, I had no issue partitioning the SD card using Minitool Partitioning in Windows. Again, I partitioned two cards using this windows app, both of them with roughly half the space formatted to ext2, and the other half as FAT32.
So.....no issues from this end. Tested successfully and working as intended
