Hello All,
I managed to revert back from the ATT UCLJ3 ICS 404 to the Stock Rogers RUXKJ5 GB 235 using a CWMR restore from backup.
However the Baseband is still the ATT ICS one.
Android: 235
Baseband: I927UCLJ3 <----- Seems this is still from ATT ICS
Kernel: 2.6.36.3
Build: GINGERBREAD.RUXKJ5
Is there a way to re-apply the original Rogers GB Baseband using ODIN or CWMR ?
Thanx.
Do a full wipe again and make sure to FORMAT /system.. sometimes some pieces are leftover in there after a nandroid restore. Also i would suggest getting the gb rom from samfirmware and flashing with odin so you get the correct bootloader.
use odin, in tar image there is modem.bin, that should be the baseband.
Maybe work you make a tar with only modem.bin

The format /system AND re-restoring didnt work.
However re-flashing via odin the stock gb from samfirmware did.
Baseband is back to I927RUXKJ5.
Thanks.

I am currently running Calk's rom 2.5 that was "based off EL13 build." My kernel version in about phone says: "2.6.35.7-SPH-D710.EL13-CL806482. and build is "Calkulin's E4GT Rom v2.5."
But my Baseband version says S:d710.10 S.EG30. Am I able to upgrade my baseband version to EL13 or does Calk's rom already do that for me?
Thanks in advance for any help

You can flash the EL13 modem in CWM using the appropriate CWM MDM link in my signature.
I am in a similar situation. I currently have:
Android 2.3.4
Baseband: S710.10 S.EG30
Kernel: 2.6.35.7-SPH-D710.EG30-CL435734
ROM: midNIGHT ROM v2.2 NOCIQ ET4G
I want to install this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1332837
How would I go about doing this? I know how to use ODIN to flash stuff, also know how to use Clockwork to flash from phone, but I'm a newbie in this area and I don't want to brick my phone.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Just use CWM and flash the ROM. It'll install the ROM and the kernel. You can flash your radio at a later point from CWM also.
On the thread of the ROM I want, it says:
"Important Notes - Due to how this ROM is setup, a wipe is recommended BEFORE flashing if coming from another ROM(use FORMAT ALL attached)"
Does this mean that before installing the ROM I need to format the whole phone (minus the SD card)?
Thank you for your help!

The Modem, Kernel, and ROM are separate entities. This thread started off talking about modems, but now you are switching to talking about a ROM. Just wanted to clarify that in case things are getting mixed up.
If the ROM says you need to FORMAT all, that usually means if you are coming from a different ROM, you should do that. If you are upgrading from one version of that ROM to another, usually you won't need to format all, but sometimes you might. Ask your question on the ROM-specific discussion thread.
Thank you for your help. I tried to post on the ROM post but I couldn't due to being a passive user and the Development forums requiring a certain number of posts.
I backed up EVERYTHING with MyBackup Pro just now and I will format ALL, format cache, dalvik-cache, anything that says "erase" on CWM I will do ... and I'll report back with how it all went.
Thank you again for your helpful post.
Hey guys. New guy here to rooting. Thanks to sfhub my first attempt was a success.
This is my current set up.
android 2.3.6
baseband s:d710s.ek02
kernel 2.6.35.7-sph-d710.ek02-cl704398
Rom New Senzation v1.7.
I also want to run Caulks' rom but I am not sure if I can on the ek02 modem. Would I have to flash to el13 to be able to use this rom?
Sorry if the terminologies are wrong still trying to get used to and understand all of this.

Even though theoretically it is best to keep the Modem, Kernel, and ROM matched since they were tested together, in practice folks haven't had issues with mix and matching. Now with CWM flashable FULL modems for EG30/EG31/EK02/EL13, it is very easy to switch after the ROM flash. Just make sure your kernel is based off the newer EK02/EL13 to flash the FULL modems.

What do you want to revert? Modem, Kernel, ROM, or all three?
If all three, the easiest is to use the EG30 ODIN tar in my signature then apply the EK02 update immediately afterwards.
i know that its possible to downgrade GS3 to ICS from Jelly Bean.
is it just flash the rom in odin and thats it?
or do i need to flash the baseband along with the rom when i downgrade with odin?

you can just ODIN back to ICS...Since it will completely wipe out.
Stock flash with Odin will replace everything, baseband included.
Odin.
Just using a twrp backup won't revert to the ics baseman will it? I believe I tried and was still getting jelybean battery drain.

Hi all,
I'm planning to flash my phone back to 4.1.1 via Odin and then to to 4.1.2 firmware, found on Sammobile to carry out the unlock method.
However, I am on the DMF2 baseband, and have heard that flashing a new modem over this will mess up the IMEI.
Will this happen if I'm only flashing a stock rom over it?
Thanks in advance!
I used to flash 4.1.1 stock ROMs onto my N7100 from 4.1.2
I would go into a bootloop after flashing it but booting to recovery and wiping data and cache solved my problem. Just backup your EFS to be on the safe side though

flashing new modem will not mess up IMEI.
but to be safe, back up your EFS before you do.
Normally IMEI will be messed up if EFS corrupted during the flashing.
Most of the time, it will happened if you change ROM with different base version (and normally happened when you never read the instructions of the OP very well).
So, when you want to downgrade, please do backup your EFS first (especially if you are coming from 4.3, due to different bootloader/partition of internal storage).

My ATT SGH-i747 was rooted and running 4.4.2 until an OTA this past weekend soft-bricked the phone. Phone would boot to a blank screen but still allowed access to download and recovery modes, thankfully.
With help from this awesome forum, and a stock 4.3 flash via ODIN, thanks to enewman17's epic efforts and thread , the phone is back, but now won't recognize the SIM - and baseband version is "unknown" - I suspect I need to now go up to 4.4.2 to get the hw recognized by the sw. Went to ATT and they put a new SIM in but to no avail
CWM recovery is gone, but I can reload that easily enough...
Do I need to just flash the modem, or is the bootloader involved too?
Is there a single flash or .zip that will get the ROM (incl CSC and Modem) up to 4.4.2 in one shot?
I never really wanted to go this deep but here I am so now I'm looking for advice or direction as there are so many directions to look... thanks in advance!
Mismatch in firmware
Digging deeper, using Phone Info *Samsung*, I have noted the following
bootloader version: I747UCUFNJ1
baseband version: <blank>
pda version: I747UCUEMJB
csc version: I747ATTEMJB
skip a bit...
modem version: <blank>
hardware revision: <blank>
mobile operator name: <blank>
mobile network code: <blank>
So it would seem I have a mis-match of versions, where it seems all should be the same..
Would it be safe to flash to MJB following this thread?

Your modem (baseband) appears to have been compromised in the process of downgrading from Kitkat. You could try either of the following solutions...
1) Flash the UCUEMJB modem via custom recovery to return you to complete stock 4.3. You can see the modem file here ....
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23269279319197285
2) Do a complete stock restore to 4.4.2. You can find the stock update zip via the following thread ...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3-att/general/ucuemjb-to-ucufne4-firmware-update-t2808654
If you can reflash the 4.3MJB modem, you can check to see if you can get an OTA update to 4.4.2. Using Option 2 requires you to be on complete stock 4.3 so this may not work if you currently don't have the baseband/modem. I would strongly advise you stick to the custom recovery flashable files for now and avoid Odin. You would, however, need to restore custom recovery via Odin.
Hope this works for you.

Thanks for the detailed reply with links, Larry :good:
So I guess my plan of actions will be
1) re-install custom recovery w CWM to my external SD card as was previous
-do I *need* later version of CWM? Previous one of mine was 6.0.2.3, IIRC, that is what I can easily flash back to the phone
2) install .zip (from https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23269279319197285) via CWM
If that doesn't work, I was interested in the S3Rx ROM vs. a stock 4.4.2 ROM - is there any way to go straight to a custom 4.4.2 ROM or should I get the modem working in 4.3 first?
Lastly, Where can I find a later version of a CW Recovery Touch .tar to flash via ODIN? (third stoopid noob question in this post, I know...)
Attempt to flash d2att_I747UCUEMJB_bootloader_modem_4.3.zip via CWM Recovery FAILED with Status 7, Installation aborted...

You aren't the first to have this issue. This is why I am still on NE4 and did not take the OTA to NJ1. The update is pointless anyway, all it does is patch the kernel so towelroot won't work anymore aside from updating the bootloader.
Since your bootloader is NJ1, that is your firmware which cannot be downgraded. If you try, you will brick. You have to work with NJ1 files here only. Sure you can flash older modems, but stick to NJ1. I suggest using ODIN to flash a custom recovery, then use enewman17's NJ1 .zip file in said recovery to reflash all the NJ1 stuff. Then do a complete factory reset. You might need to flash stock recovery to do the hard factory data reset, as I am not sure if it can be done in CWM or TWRP.
In the future, I suggest freezing the update and not upgrading until people on here do it and report how it's working or rather not working in this case.

I have CWM and TeamEpic v5 on external SD, so a version of custom recovery is there (CWM 6.0.2.3) - but do you have a link to enewman17's NJ1 .zip /recovery?
As far as freezing the updates in the future, yes. I tried to keep the OTA push from happening, apparently not ardently enough :crying:

Not a problem, glad to help when I can. I THINK this is the link you need: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3-att/general/ucufne4-to-ucufnj1-update-t2941792
You might want to post in that thread asking if it works when you are already on NJ1 though, or get a hold of enewman17 via PM or something.
SOLVED!
enewman17 posted NJ1 modem .zip here, and now me has modem and cellular service again!
Question: can I update the thread tag from [Q] to [SOLVED] myself?

Hey guys,
I was running Cyanogenmod 11 for a while which I installed using the automatic tool online. During the summer I flashed Dirty Unicorns but I have issues with the camera and random rebooting. I just got a Galaxy Gear for Christmas and I've read that its only compatible with touchwiz roms.
I'm trying to go back to stock and I am ok with losing my root access.
I have an SGH-1747m on Baseband I747MVLUEMK5 and my service provider is Bell. The android version is 4.4.4 currently. Whats the easiest method to do this? I've read some concerning information that going back to an earlier version of android will soft brick your phone, but I believe the most current Bell firmware is still in Jelly Bean.
Is it as easy as downloading the correct firmware and flashing it using Clockworkmod Recovery?
Thanks
You should download the stock ROM from sammobile.com and flash it in Odin to get back to stock.

Thanks. So if I'm understanding correctly I just flash the latest firmware released by my carrier (4.4.2)? Is there anything else to watch out for when choosing the firmware?
Also, before flashing should I make a backup with Clockwork Recovery or any other program? Will Clockwork Recovery still be present after flashing with ODIN?

Yes, flash the latest firmware for your phone. Be sure it's firmware for the i747m and not anything else. Always make a backup if you ever screw up or want to go back to where you are now. You will lose everything by flashing the stock firmware with ODIN, even clockwork mod recovery.
Thanks. When I made a backup before going to Dirty Unicorns I used Clockwork Recovery. If Clockwork will be deleted by flashing with ODIN, how would I utilize that backup if I needed it? Should I use another program to back up?
EDIT: I flashed it and everything went smoothly. Sincere thanks to everyone who gave me help!
