I have a International GSM GNEX from Negri which was recently flashed to stock 4.2.2 via fastboot. I have flashed every north american radio and most European radios and have not been able to get more than about -100 dbm signal strength since the flash. My IMEI is not corrupted and other than the signal disparity, everything is functioning fine. My carrier is AT&T and my current baseband is UGLL1. I can access all the information on my SIM card so I'm not sure if that is the issue. Returning to prior versions all the way back to 4.0.4 does not resolve the issue. Does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks.
I've got the same.. Ive flashed everything roms, radios, kernels and the GSM radio is still crazy unstable.
Update if you have a break through.

Hey guys I have a question about baseband compatibility
My GNex is completely stock 4.1.1 and is rooted.
I was on bigxies ROM running uglc1 and I seemed to have better reception with it.
Thing is, ever since I went back to stock, I've tried flashing the same radio over xxlf1 and I can't get any service. I am experiencing the same issues once again such as random signal loss and no service. I ran GetRil and everything is good there.
So is it that you just cant run a different baseband on a factory installed rom or am I doing something wrong?
Any ideas are greatly appreciated.

Not all radio versions are compatible with every version of Android. This sounds like you have a GSM version of the GNex as I myself have a the CDMA/LTE version but in some cases when new version of Android come out or leak or what have you it's best to keep current the radio versions with the OS.... If that helps or makes sense at all. I do know that on the CDMA/LTE JellyBean updates I'm still using the radio versions from 4.0.4 with it and it's perfectly fine. Have you always had the loss in signal or is this only of recent with testing different radios?

I got it to work. Apparently some thunderstorms knocked out at&t service last night and I was flashing radios during it so when I got done, I couldn't pull any service down. While I'm still without signal, I know its not a radio issue now. Thanks for the response

tried it once without any luck. going back to stock telus ROM at the moment.
has anybody had any success flashing an AT&T modem onto an i747M?
i am using the telus variant
edit: reason i wanted to do this was b/c i was getting some consistent signal drops. after having to go stock telus -> CM10 nightly (8/20), i'll see if i'm still getting any drops. that was the reason i wanted to use an AT&T modem, but if the issue doesn't come back i'll withdraw my inquiry

I'm using 8/18 and I'm not having too many issues. CM has been my daily driver for 2 weeks. I'm on telus as well. I haven't tested LTE, but once I'm back at school I'll figure it out and make sure everythings working smoothly.

CM10 8/20 nightly works great, i'm not getting any of those signal drops i had from before. maybe the phone just needed a full wipe. anyway, i'm not too curious about flashing an AT&T modem anymore. it would be nice to have a choice of modems, but that's definitely the lowest on my list now that there aren't any drops
I am using the LLE8 stock Bell modem even though my firmware is the latest ATT LH1: I did attempt to flash the full LH1 leak including the modem, but lost my IMEI in the process. Seems the modems do not play nice across different carriers, even when the phone is an I747 -- the developers then removed the modem out of the firmware package and the LH1 release installed without any issues. So my experience is that the ROMs are quite compatible, ATT to Canadian users, the source code for the kernel is standard across all SG3 phones according to the developers and the experience of people using kernels irrespective of carrier designation BUT the modem (baseband) does not appear to be cross-carrier friendly. So until a fix is developed and/or one of the Canadian carriers updates their firmware, we are stuck with LLE8 or its equivalent..

yep. i came to the exact same conclusion. i'm not too worried about it; phone takes a few seconds to hop on to LTE where i am, but no big deal
Hey guys,
About a month ago i flashed the "Blaze" Radio and it does not get good 4G reception in my area. Under baseband it shows "Unknown" i have tried to flash about 3 other radios and it never changes from "Unknown" and i continue to get crappy 4g signal. Any suggestions to fix my issue?

normally you won't see a radio info tag in the baseband due to it not being the one built for that device. Normally it will only show if you are using the one specific to your device (i.e. UVLE1 for ics t989)
Now the question is, when you flash uvle1 to your phone, does it show up in the baseband?
I have the GSM variant of the Galaxy Nexus running 4.3 on T-Mobile. I have been having some issues (before and since 4.3) where the signal drops and it's just gone. Rebooting sometimes works. APN settings are correct. Nexus 4 has no issues, so it doesn't appear to be a carrier issue. Trying to figure out the latest baseband version (currently I9250XXLJI). As always, any and all help appreciated.
That is the latest version. The baseband hasn't changed in a long while (that's the version that comes with 4.3 even).

I had the same problem a long time ago. Tried flashing different roms, changing radios and even bootloaders. The only thing that helped me was going to t-mobile and asking them a new sim card. After that I never had any problems with my connection.
Thanks for the information. I wish I had seen the replies sooner. I've had that sim card for a while and it's probably time for a new one anyway. Thanks again.
Hey guys,
Over the past while, I've noticed that I no longer get any 3G/4G reception in parts of the building I work in that I used to get full coverage in and am just wondering if it could be down to something that's changed on my phone? I have changed my ROM a few times so could I have a radio or something that's not fully compatible with my network provider - I'm on EE in the UK.

Changing your ROM does not touch the radio baseband. Only manually flashing a firmware or radio; or installing an official OTA update or RUU will change the radio.
You can go back to a known good (as far as reception) ROM to make sure. But I have a feeling its not ROM related. Could just be a temporary issue with your local cell tower.
