Hello All,
I have a HTC Desire and have rooted it an year ago and went with MIUI and last week did install Paranoidandroid ver 3.10 with JB 4.2 version. My issue is am running out of space so i tried to format my SD card and install apps but my phone wouldnt login so am just using the 150mb space.I guess i have a SD card with class 1 or 2 so if i get a Sandisk Extreme Pro 8gb which reads upto 95 mb/s and write upto 90 mb/s, can i install apps and would it be fast enough? and most importantly would my Desire support it?

Hi,
Thanks for quick replies,i have done exactly like whats being said ( and thanks for the extremely useful guide abaaaabbbb63) but my Desire didnt boot and i thought it must be due to my slower SD card,so had to reformat the card and have done everything except the Using the Ext partition part so is the problem due to my slower SD card? if so can i get a class 10 sandisk extreme pro card would it be useful ?

I think your rom already has an a2sd script, so no need for installing other scripts. Just read the rom thread for activating the script.

Thanks a lot again but can you please let me know about Sandisk Extreme pro and its performance in Desire?
Oviously the extreme versions will be having higher read/write performance...(an ext4 partition makes it much faster )

As we've said. Check your setting it up properly as I don't think you are.
Slower cards don't usually cause bootloops. It's just slower.
And as for the sandisk its completely pointless as the desire will get nowhere near the full speed. You'd be wasting the extra cost.

I've searched for this similar problem prior to posting. Forgive me if I overlooked it. My total storage space is 12.05 GB (16 GB version). Here's the breakdown of what's currently used:
Apps - 0.93 GB
Audio - 220 KB
Downloads - 522 MB
Available space remaining 5.73 GB.
What's occupying the other (roughly) 5 GB of space?? It was showing a lot more accurate prior to trying out custom ROMs. Currently running cm-10 9/02 update. Had the same issue running Paranoid Android cm-10. Any ideas?

It turns out the storage space I was referring to is being taken up by CWM blobs (over 3 GB). Thanks for your help though

Could you please post the path to where you found that 3 GB of CWM Blobs.

I am just so pissed that I bought this phone because we can't move our apps to the SD card like you can on almost all other android phones. I can't understand, with all the great developers on XDA that this hasen't been addressed. Am I the only one that really finds that apps to SD is really helpful?

I found this frustrating also. I didn't think twice about buying the 16GB AT&T since it had a MicroSD slot and I was under the impression that apps could be installed on SD just like pre-ICS android devices. I have a Nook Color running CM7 and it is soooooo flexible with storage. One plus, it does seem a lot harder to fill android devices with 12Gb of apps than my IOS devices.
I think it would be a lot better if the OS at least tried harder to reserve the internal "SD" for apps and pushed data, music, downloads etc... to the external SD if installed.
I am really happy I found HighOnAndroid ROM. It actually swaps the SD card and internal memory so that the phone now has 29 gigs. The rom is smooth and the battery is great. This is the only rom I know of that even deals with this storage issue at all (as far as I know)

Thanks, I cleared mine also.
I have to ask this again. I don't think many of the dev look at this General list but here goes.
Why are all the devs (from what I can see after many hours of reading and trying roms) ignoring this storage problem we have on the G3. I would think that this would be right up there at the top of the list as this phone almost renders a 32gig or 64gig card useless.
Like I said above, I am using HighOnAndroid ROM which is the only one that even comes close to addressing this issue by swapping the external SD with the internal one giving me 29gigs on my 15gig S3 (again, excuse me if I am wrong here).
I was planning on going back to stock when JB comes from sammy but without this fixed I either stay with HighOnAndroid ROM or get the new Note 2.
Just wanted to let people know in case they were interested. The extsd 2 internal sd card mod works on the T-Mobile Note 2. I flashed Perseus Kernel and then the mod found here. It's really nice if you have the 64gb Sandisk that was on sale at amazon

I didn't lose service at all. All I did was use the perseus kernel and the exfat version. Did you flash the right one? There is a stock kernel version and a custom kernel version. I made sure to use the custom kernel exfat. If you are using a stock kernel please use the stock kernel one. That is the only thing I can think of.
Good info, but best in the General Section, Moved and Thank You.
Does this make it so the OS is on the Sd card? If so, does it run slower? Sorry, I'm just not sure what this does. I did buy the 64gb sd and I would love to put more than 10 gigs of apps on here. Is there any downside to doing this?
hmm
I tried pretty much every mod on there, stock and custom, and still no service. I did do a restore with every try, so it would be fresh. I still get no service.
I'm using a rooted stock note ii from t-mobile. no new rom or anything. Maybe that's why?

Sorry to revive an dead thread, but I'm interested in how this has turned out. Do you notice any issues since doing this, especially with HD video recording or Burst shot camera pictures? I think it mandates that burst shot is placed on the internal because of speed issues.
Here is the real thread for this mod and it works great without any problems.

Can anyone explain to me why my new 64gb class 10 micro sd from sandisk is not recognized by my N2 on the Jedi 6.1.2 rom with the SaberKernel? I'm unfamiliar with the formats that are recognized by which kernels and if this one is compatible or not. Thanks for the help in advance.

Just realized that there is actually two versions of the 64g class 10 micro sd from sandisk. A Mobile device version and also a camera version. I lost my original packaging so I'm not sure which one I was gifted and didn't pay attention to what it was when I was opening it. Can this one still be used?

As Killerdvd reponded you need to try another Kernal. Saber kernal does not support 64gb SD cards as indictated in the op for the Jedi ROM. Perseus kernal does support 64gb sd cards.

You are apparently using SaberKernel_001 which does not yet support exfat. Please Flash New Kernel

This tends to be more a kernel issue than anything else - though truth be told I know little on the nuances of using the mighty 64GB sd card That being said - what kernel are you using? Perhaps that could help someone more knowledgeable in offering you assistance.

Nice - and fwiw kernels can be a bit independent of rom outside of major os differences (e.g. ics vs. jb, aosp vs. TW) - I don't think I've heard of any 4.1.x TW kernel not working at all for all users of a particular TW rom for T889 users anyway. My scope is limited though so I could very well be wrong on that (though I know that one works fine on Tweaked).

and I just got this 128GB SD card and formatted it to Fat32

but it's not being recognized by Saber kernel on Jedi X-17 or CyanogenMod 3.0.64 kernel on CM 10.2.
Please help!

I don't think any kernel/rom can Handel more than 64gb. And those have issues as well
Im using the same setup but a Kingston 128gb card. Jedi x17 as well. Go read the thread in the accessories forum. I used a specific program on a pc to format to fat 32. That may be the problem.
