[Q] Miracast wireless display on any I317 AOSP roms? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note II

I am currently using an allshare cast in my car with the Pioneer Appradio 2 to mirror my phones display which is absolutely awesome however to use the allshare cast I have to run a stock based rom with stock kernel. I have heard from other users that they are using CM10.1 with the allshare cast on other phones via the wireless display option in settings>display which apparently is not included in the official CM10.1 nightlies. Is anyone aware of any I317 aosp roms that include this option or a way to include it if not?

I can't believe no one answered this I've been ripping apart the web for days and have found NOTHING conclusive (and I used to think I was good at finding stuff myself)

im running a custom recovery on mines can i still update?
Do u have international version or us version,? You should have the option under settings / more settings if your using the latest jelly bean rom. I don't see the harm in trying the intended updated.

Samsung haven't released a firmware for the us model with allshare capabilities yet. Sorry. You can always upgrade to jelly bean and install Flash from else where

You can flash any UVALH2 roms which is still ICS and will have this feature. That option is not Jellybean specific. I recommend the one below assuming you're rooted.

So if I upgrade to jelly bean the allshare cast option would work for the us model?

Allshare cast was added to the latest ICS OTA (T999UVLH2) and not Jelly bean specific (there's no need to upgrade to Jellybean).

Or you can flash a custom rom based off that version if you have custom recovery (CWM or TWRP).
Current Version of ICS
Version:
Android version 4.0.4/Software version T999UVLH2
Approved 8/16/2012
New Feature
AllShare Cast
Improvements:
Resolved the error, ‘Enter MAC address' after entering the correct MAC address in the Mobile HotSpot configuration page if the MAC address entered did not contain the colons ) or spaces.
Resolved issue where the contents of a Home screen folder would be rearranged alphabetically after a reboot.
Resolved issue where the name does not populate when trying to add a contact with NameID information, you must manually add.

I think allshare cast is to be used with an allshare cast dongle so it may be looking for that. Do you have the dongle? I dont think any samsung TV has this feature on TVs yet. It basically allows mirroring of your phone to your tv just like using and HDMI cable but its wireless. There's also allshare play where you can connect to a TV via DLNA and play video, picture, and music from your phone to your tv.

You can still install Flash Player, just sideload the apk.

Glad you got it figured out. So is mirroring pretty smooth? I'm not sure dual core is up to the task. Just curious as I would like to buy a dongle. Also how much did you pay?

[REVIEW] Netgear Push2TV PTV3000 with my Note 10.1 and AllShare Cast

I made a quick video showing me using AllShare Cast and the Netgear Push2TV PTV3000 with my Note 10.1 tablet.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JnqhZdjm16s
Works quite well so if you want to mirror or wireless stream video, this is a great solution and only $60 on Amazon. Wider compatibility than the Samsung AllShare Dongle, but keep in mind you cannot use AllShare Cast at all if your device has a flash counter higher than 1. If you can get it back to 0 and it says "Device Status: Official" then it will work great. More info about this in the video.
Let me know if you have any questions -- and sorry for the bad quality.
Edit: Using AllShare Cast does prevent using multiple apps at once. The UI speed when streamed does not run at 60fps.... looks like 30fps to me. I find this perfectly fine and the lag is too long for playing a game on. (My TV introduced some lag as well.) I have used Apple Airplay and this fees exactly the same when it comes to lag and performance.
did you say nexus 10 in the video? lol
could put a pop up note to correct that.
So that means if I am rooted (status modified) l am not able to do all share cast at all? Never heard of before, thanks a lot for that ! Am l still able to do other allshare operations?
btw: nice vid!

That is correct. You have to Triangle Away for any Samsung device that is using AllShare Cast.
As a side note, the AllShare Cast dongle supposedly works with Miracast now. Has anyone tested this yet? I have the dongle but no Miracast devices...

LOL. Yep I did say it accidentally. I did put a popup note on it when I posted it but I don't think those come through on the Android YouTube client. Haha

Yep I tried Triangle Away on my Note 2 but I couldn't get it to stick. Something on my phone keeps flipping it back to modified right after boot which also increments the flash counter back to 1. I wish I had known about this limitation before I bought the adapter or I would have just stuck to HDMI right from the start.....
And it is a rather annoying limitation.

Thanks for the review. Any issues with audio sync? Any method to get this working on CM10.1?
Thanks for this demo. I was thinking which to buy, the samsung made allshare dongle or Miracast compatible devices. Now I get a obvious answer.
I bought the netgear hoping to stream lots of video to my TV (Netflix, etc.) but the audio cuts out for a split second every few seconds - makes it pretty unique watchable. I'm running unmodified stock on my Note 10.1 and Note II - it's the same on both... anyone have any troubleshooting advice?

Hey does anyone know why my wifi keeps turning on automatically after about 40 seconds of streaming through mirror cast with my note 3 att.

is there an alternative to mhl?

I love using my phone with TVs and stuff but I also want to have an aosp rom. only touchwiz roms support mhl so I was wondering if there was a way to show my phone screen on a TV without mhl or anything else Samsung specific (like all share cast)
I'm willing to buy devices if necessary...

Miracast on aosp rom

Have a question and couldn't find an answer. I'm running an aosp rom. I have in the past used Samsung allshare with both they Samsung dongle and or netgear ptv3000. Since I'm running aosp the allshare doesn't seem to be an option. Is there any other way to connect to either of those devices while running aosp rom? Thanks in advance.

Share Video to Samsung TV (Which ROMs?)

One of my favorite features of this phone is I can press a little box on the top of the video player when a video is playing and share it with my Samsung TV. I've been using Wicked V7 ROM for a while and it works on there too. But I've been wanting to try the 4.4 Kitkat ROMs lately, and wondered if this video sharing works on them. Or is this only a Touchwiz feature?
You can download a media share app off the Playstore that will link to your tv via dlna. Samsung allshare is what you ate using now which is built in to stock roms and an option for all touch wiz roms. But on cm barsed roms you need to download a media server, then turn it on and have your tv search for media servers, than you can play any file on your phone, but I don't believe it will screen mirror.

Great. Hopefully I can get one of those working. It's the only thing that's got me stuck to touchwiz roms now.
Me too and wifi calling, which are t mobile based twiz, I dual boot to run aosp based roms when I'm not at home or work
