Rooting LGOG E97510e - LG Optimus G (International)

Hello, i am using LG optimus G E975. The phone information are as follows:
Android ver: 4.1.2
Baseband Ver: APQ8064/MSM9x15M
Kernel Ver: 3.4.0
Build Number: jZ054K
Software Ver: E97510e-525-05
Telco: Starhub(singapore)
Could anyone provide me with a foolproof guide to rooting? i previously managed to root a Samsung s2. However, after searching for very long, i am unable to find a root method specifically for the E97510e software. Could any kind person provide me with a guide & recovery method?
Thank you
*edit* before someone scolds me for noobness or not bothering to check, i have came across this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2181103
and
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2050582
However, as stated in the guide, the version should be Settings>About phone>Software information..Software version - LS970ZV_ ?
My version is completely different, hence the request for help

I have tried rooting with the aforementioned root method, but it doesn't work while doing it from a mac og linux box. The last confirmation "if uid=0(root)...." It's never displayed, uid=2000 or something is always displayed. Could you help me troubleshoot?
I would post in the original thread but I haven't made enough replies to post in a dev thread yet.

Remove G_security from the root of your sdcard and try again, if you have an g_security from an old method it messes it up.

Thanks for responding!
I don't seem to have a folder, nor a file named G_security in the root of my sdcard. This is the output i get in the terminal on both my mac, and in Ubuntu 12.04:
Code:
uid=2000(shell) gid=2000(shell) groups=1003(graphics),1004(input),1007(log),1009(mount),1011(adb),1015(sdcard_rw),3001(net_bt_admin),3002(net_bt),3003(inet),3006(net_bw_stats)
If uid=0(root), gid=0(root) is displayed
EDIT: Found the file on the phone itself, but after deletion, it still fails with the same error.

I used the .bat version, and there is a slight difference in the Linux .sh one, it is missing the row "adb root".
So just for the sake of trial and error, add so it says:
adb root
echo.
adb shell id
EDIT: Also notied fiddy just updated the Linux script, be sure to delete the G_security on your phone before you do any tries. And download the script again from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2181103

That is not an option on Linux. Currentroot.bat is not linux compatible.

Hello again. Last night my phone had a new push update labeled 10g. Upon attempting to update, it came back with an error saying that the phone cannot be updated due to root. My current firmware.is E97510f-525-05.
I have again attempted to research. Are these the proper steps to update?
Go to supersu and select full unroot, update to 10g and using the previous zv9-zv method to root?
Am I correct? Or is there an easier method to update the firmware without unrooting and rooting?

unroot with supersu doesn't work.
you have to install the latest KDZ to unroot

Is there another way to update without unroot? And will the old root method work with the new 10g firmware?

you cannot install official upates with rooted phone.
this is the same like all android phones
you have to install KDZ to unroot and relock the bootloader

What is the change log for 10g? Is it worth the trouble to update?

there are no changelogs for official updates

i must be missing something cause everywhere i see it no one replies to this question or there is no answer...
after removing 0 and 1943, i can't ever commit the **** to the DIAG TX item... the DIAG RX item takes it just fine. I have been trying and re-trying for hours... thanks
You need the version of qpst listed In the guide....double check your version
I used the EFS Explorer to add and extract the files. Edit of course with Winhex. I bet the file is not saved properly if you've done this already.

Makes sense. when you drag files back do they have the same look as the ones already in there? What i do notice is that all the other files have a consistent modified date, and there is also a batch of files that show mod dates that are more recent and don't have the red line through them (they look like txt file images on a windows pc). are these temp files that are perhaps messing with writing the ****?

It's normal that they look different, don't know if you tried it yet, but you need to delete the 0&1943 from the phone before copying them back from pc.

i do delete them. but i also see a host of other files that are written on boot(or reboot), those are the ones i'm curious about. i also will downgrade qpst to 2.7.555 to see if that matters.
EDIT: Tried it to no avail. so infuriating... so close but so far...
EDIT: thanks to Klown80 - simple answer is it doesn't matter! there is a guide floating around that says it does, i just happened to end up with it. thinking that it was logical i wasn't going to deviate until i got it right... so unnecessary. so there it is, for those of you who are stumped by this issue...

Root method

I think i saw someone post this method before, but can't find it. So i post root method. Currently this method work on the latest Canadian OG firmware (Both E971 and E973). i did not make this method, i just find it from a chinese web. Here is the link
http://bbs.gfan.com/android-5698914-1-1.html
Here is the instruction.
1. Unzip the zip file
2. turn on usb debug and plug in the cable to pc
3. double click the root.bat
4. unplug the cable.
5. Turn off the usb debug
6. turn on the usb debug
7. plug in the cable.
8. Press enter until it root.
9. Done.
So this work for the E973 on latest stock firmware...? e973H ..?
Be careful, this root is for "[Tutorial] F180 the series 4.1Root method"
That's the title of the other forums.. So this might not WORK!
Yes I tried on my e973 and it work

I just tried FreeGee and its a no go.
I want to root this thing soooo bad!! But I want to have a backup of the official JB update, and I don't want something to prevent me from installing it via OTA. I'm curious to see what lg will do with jb. I'm really liking the stock ICS experience on this phone, and I think they'll just kill it (in a good way) with jb!

I really would have posted this much sooner, however, this particular method was being kept secret with the intention of the exploit still being available upon US Jelly Bean release. Since this has been outed, and is now public, i will share a more proper script of the same method. I actually kept the adb shell id command, as it is pretty useful for this operation.
Main differences in my script is that you don't need to ever disconnect your phone.
1. Unzip the zip file
2. Make sure USB Debugging is on, and your are in Charge only Mode
3. Run the CurrentRoot.bat, wait for the prompt
4. Change to MTP mode.
5. Wait for your computer to ask how to view files.
6. Press enter in the CMD prompt to continue.
7. Done.
This is a fully working method for the most current US/Canadian releases, and Jelly Bean releases. BTW, the current release does not install busybox correctly, includes SuperuserPro.apk (which I'm sure wasn't purchased by everyone downloading this). Also I have updated it to the latest busybox, su binary's, and Superuser.apk available.
hi, is there any way to unroot it? thks

I can't thank you enough.... I got my Optimus G in Dec. and I immediately found root method and was completely content with my new phone. Then came the dreaded OTA update that I knew would remove root. I avoided the update with determination. I shouldn't have let my goofy sister touch my phone... After our got it back from her I realized I wasn't receiving the update reminders. I panicked, checked root, root was lost! :crying: I began searching everywhere only to find that there was no root for zv9....For weeks it was the same. Then yesterday I found your method, fired up my laptop and within 5 minutes my LGOG ZV9 on Sprint was rooted again! Thanks again. I can't tell you how much I rely on my free wifi tether.
---------- Post added at 01:04 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:53 AM ----------
I re-rooted my LGOG after the OTA update to ZV9 robbed me of my original root. It only took about five minutes and worked flawlessly. Well tonight I tried to root my girlfriends phone (also a LGOG running ZV9 on the Sprint network) and although it ran through the process just as mine did, as well as stated root was successful, when I run root check to confirm it comes back negative. What am I doing wrong? Any ideas? Thanks
How do you unroot?

Every time I run CurrentRoot.bat I receive the error " 'adb' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file" after every step.
Im on Telus running E97310g
confirmed working on LG E975 Singapore version
Afraid LG did something, cant get it to root.
I have an E975 with 4.1.2, software version E97510a-525-05.
I won it in LGs test pilot contest so not sure if its something they did to this or if they plugged the hole completely for the future also.
The guy I spoke to said something about them being flashed as we spoke, and it looked like the phone could have been taken from the box.
Should I wait and hope they send a update after the contest is over or can I use a KDZ and if so, what KDZ can I use to maintain same radio bands?
EDIT: Tried the LG sMobile Support tool and it said it found an update. So now its downloading that *holds thumbs*
EDIT2: Updated to E97510B and still no go, guess they did something to the euro version...
cant root
hi, i tried the CurrentRoot.bat and followed the instructions but couldn't root. it said phone now rooted and restarted the phone but there was no superuser after that
i saved a screenshot of it incase anyone can figure out whats wrong. just got the phone yesterday.... Best phone i've ever used.(from starhub singapore if it helps)
i think its because of the uid and gid not being zero. any ideas??

More details about errors you get when you try to root please?
Are you sure you tried all solutions before posting ?or,when you failed on first try you came here?
I also could't root it on first try, then i rechecked and made it work.
1.make sure you have the drivers installed.
2.use rear usb port, not frontal or usb hub.
3.make sure usb debug and allow mock locations are checked.
4.follow the steps correctly,as explained on root thread.
5.if it failed on one computer, try on another, following 1-4.i have a friend who couldn't root because of faulty windows.
6.use search button,it has been discused.
7.only after 5 and 6 failed, ask.this way we keep a clean forum, without having same questions asked over and over again.

Rooted now
Ok, i tried the Motochopper and it worked fine at the first try. Used Freegee to unlock bootloader after that.
@kimitza no errors appeared, at the part thatthe program displayed "if iud=0 then root" mine was on "uid=2000 Shell" and then after i hitted continue it uploaded the apk and display on command terminal showed result as "you are now root". Wich was not true. I kept trying, activated the adb daemon manually, forced it to shutdown (kill), retried. Phone rebooted and everything was as expected but the "uid=0" Used another computer with same result. Motochopper did the Job at first try.

Root achieved on CAT B15Q !!!

Root finally achieved on CAT B15Q.
I tried all the simple methods, none worked.
I used PDAnet USB drivers.
To achieve root, I made a recovery using the CWM method with SP Flash Tool V5.1408.00 following this guide
chinaphonearena.com/forum/Thread-Tutorial-Ultimate-no-root-backup-CWM-MT6582-MT6592-MT6589-MT6589T-MT6577-MT6595
Recovery was patched using MTK Droid tools. However, SP Flash Tool V5 would not flash the phone with the patched Recovery and Boot files, so for that I used SP Flash Tool V3.1332.0sn187. Then root using MTK Droid tools - Superuser (SuperSU failed). Also useful was this guide
chinaphonearena.com/forum/Thread-Tutorial-How-to-build-CWM-and-root-Bedove-X21-MTK6577-and-other-MTK-phones
Note: When plugging phone in for flashing (this is done with the phone OFF), put battery in, plug cable into phone, hold volume down button when you plug the USB cable into the computer.
Checking with a root checker, it told me I did not have full root access, even though Superuser appeared to be working, I only had temporary root.
I then used Root Genius, which finally achieved full root.
A bit of messing around, but worth it.
Install busybox.

Yes, a detailed tutorial how to successful rooting a Cat B15Q would be greatly appreciated.

i really hope this will turn out better than with the b15, where after half a year there was still nothing reliable

Can you tell us which version of RootGenius you used? Chinese 1.9.6, or older international version 1.8.7 from march 2014 ? Or another else?
For info: I have tried to contact as672 for more details, but no answer until today.
Greetings,

It's an apk fille (in chinese). Just download, run, wait, reboot and voila... Root is there. At least i have it on my B15Q since morning. Root is persistent (still rooted after multiple reboots) and controlled by KingUser app that you will get preinstalled after running thar chinese apk. How much is it safe or not I have absolutely no clue nor guarantee. For me it works without any problems (so far).

1+ for RootGenius_general_mobile.apk
Dear cityshark_cz,
thank you for pioneering to root @ my CAT B15Q, keeps any reboot, all works fine!
Through rooting installed Kinguser App is near equal to SuperSU or Superuser.
Hopefully without Chinese back door...
I think I root my phone but I did not transfer my apps to SD card How do you do?

Hmm... Can't Root...

Hey, guys. I need help rooting this phone. I tried the LG Root Script v1.2 and the CMD prompt by avicohh. Both of which looked as if they should have rooted this phone. They did install the SuperSU app but every time I load up the app, it'll say, "there is no su binary installed and supersu cannot install it". I upgraded from an HTC One M7 and never had any problems rooting that phone. What other methods can I use to root this phone? Additional info below:
Model # - LG-D851
Android Version - 5.0.1
Kernel Version - 3.4.0
Software Version - D85120g
Security Software Version - MDF v1.1 Release 2
Unknown Sources and USB Debugging Enabled
Figured it out thanks to digital-bug's app!!!! Sweet!
+1. Tried many other methods, I have the same phone and software version.
This is the link to the method that worked.
Neither of these worked:

I managed to do it with an ubuntu desktop with a little tweaking. As soon as I figure out how to install TWRP I'll post a more complete how-to.

Something's wrong. Whenever I use digital-bug's .bat, it bricks the phone and it stalls at the LG logo. I can't figure out why...
did I ever post that how to?
