[MOD] Enable Nav Bar & Disable HW Keys - Sprint LG Optimus G

Disclaimer:
You do this at your own risk.
Version 2.1 works on 4.4, 4.3, and 4.1.2, ROMs. It might work on 4.4 on 4.2.2 but I don't remember.
Downloads
Changelog:
v2.1 (zip now for 4.3. if you're using an older release, use an old zip)
v2 (zip no longer overwrites build.prop with an old cm10.1 version but, instead, simply adds the "qemu.hw.mainkeys=0" line to the existing build.prop found in /system. UI messages have also been updated to show what is occurring with greater detail.
v1.1 (Zip automatically sets proper permissions on file 99keyoff)
v1 (Thank wewooo for the original zip here)
Bugs in 2.1: Pressing hardware keys when in a fullscreen video has the same effect as tapping: the nav bar and status bar slide out.

Re: [HOWTO] Enabling Nav Bar/Disabling HW Keys
This will turn off the lights but won't disable them. Lol
Edit#1 for being an idiot: I didn't realize you were on CM. My bad. Lol

PM me, I got a script that can Disable the lights. I'll put together a flashable zip later today that does all this later today.

Re: [HOWTO][CM10.1] Enabling Nav Bar/Disabling HW Keys
I did this a few days ago but couldn't stand the capacitive lights so I reverted.
Also this works for about any 4.0+ rom

I wasn't sure if the name of the file to edit was different depending on the ROM so I figured I wouldn't claim what I didn't know for sure. Thanks for confirming that!

Re: [HOWTO][CM10.1] Enabling Nav Bar/Disabling HW Keys
Anyone know how to disable to backlight on CM. I have been working in the build prop with no success.

Re: [HOWTO][CM10.1] Enabling Nav Bar/Disabling HW Keys
Does anyone know why the screen is taking up so much battery life now on CM 10.1 or just any jb roms?

I'm using Keyboard Backlight from the play store to disable backlight. It doesn't stick on reboot, but it works otherwise.

Here is the zip - https://www.dropbox.com/s/0hl9iic57j81bia/LS970%20Navigation%20bar.zip
Just flash in twrp, if your lights still remain. Go to /system/etc/init.d/99keyoff add the following permissions RWX,RWX,R--

Just updated the zip so that all files have the necessary permissions.

ZIP Method:
v1.1 (Zip automatically sets proper permissions on file 99keyoff)
v1 (Thank wewooo for the zip, here):
Instructions:
Manual Instructions (only for nav bar and hw keys, doesn't disable key lights):
Reminder: Back up both files before editing them.
I, personally, have only tested this on the nightly builds of CM10.1.
1) Enabling the Nav Bar
Open build.prop (located at /system/build.prop) and add this to the end:
Code:
qemu.hw.mainkeys=0
2) Disabling H/W Keys
Open keypad_8064.kl (located at /system/usr/keylayout) and change the lines:
Code:
key 158 BACKVIRTUAL
key 172 HOME VIRTUAL
key 139 MENUVIRTUAL
To:
Code:
# key 158 BACKVIRTUAL
# key 172 HOME VIRTUAL
# key 139 MENUVIRTUAL
3) Reboot to see changes!
I fixed permissions and cleared caches as well but I don't know if it's required.

How about a script that reverts the changes.

I might do it when I have some spare time. In the meantime just delete 99keyoff from /system/etc/init.d and do the opposite of the manual directions.

Reflashing your rom (without wiping anything) should revert the changes just fine, I think.

I think not, because the prop.build is different in roms. Just do this, go to prop.build and add the following line to it "qemu.hw.mainkeys=0" (Without the ""). Then open the flashable zip and remove the prop.build then flash the modified zip.

You're right.
Here's version 2 which adds the line to the build prop instead of just overwriting it with an old cm10.1 build.prop.
This has the added benefit of showing the right rom version in settings > about, too.

If you're using the v2 ZIP then the permissions should be fixed upon install.
I've not tried supernexus so I'm not sure what the conflict is but something must be being done differently.

[ THEME][VR1.1]VillainTheme Reverter v1.1r3 [06/09/11]

THIS IS NOT A REAL THEME
Ok, I know this isn't a real theme, but seeing a lot of people flashing the wrong theme or mod on this awesome ROM and falling into FCs and bootloops I decided to release this handy CWM flashable zip. With it you could easily get back to original theme settings without having to reflash the whole ROM.
You have only to put it in your sdcard and if you flash the wrong theme or something has gone wrong with simple mod just reboot in recovery mode and install this zip.
I hope you will find it useful.
The version number should reflect those of the VillainRom while the Revision numbers are used for further file inclusions
The package restores following files:
- framework-res.apk
- android-policy.jar
- framework.jar
- SystemUI.apk
- MediaProvider.apk
- Mms.apk
- Settings.apk
- Phone.apk
- Contacts.apk
It should restore almost all themed files or at least those included in currently released themes.
CHANGELOG
----------------
1.1r3
Adders framework.jar and android-policy.jar to revert from power menu mod
1.1t2
Added Contacts.apk and Phone.apk
1.1r1

AFAIK the Power menu mod also modifies
android.policy.jar
framework.jar
along with framework-res.apk
so these would have to probably be restored aswell
(well thats what gets flashed in the ZIP file from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1112713)

[MOD][ROOT][ICS]Hide Status Bar (updated 11.02.)

How to hide the combined Status Bar on ICS (root required!)
I think many ppl are searching for a solution to hide the status bar on ICS, since the Hacks from Honeycomb doesnt work on ICS.

I would like to try this but I don't wanna be the guinea pig.
There's nothing super risky in changing the services.jar.
Make a backup of yours and you can push it back with ADB if you got a bootloop.
Nice, and thanks.
Wish there was a way to incorporate this into my app without needing the external jar file to be replaced (like it is in HC).
I have an app on Market that is a Kiosk browser app, but currently only for Honeycomb. It'd be sweet if it could work for ICS as well

I don't think there is a way to do it without a "special" version of the jar (policy or services)
In HoneyComb you could hide the bar, but with ICS Google remove that option, now the bar is "enforced" due the soft buttons and notification stuff.
new version online. see first post!
thx dabidu
Maybe this could go to the development section.
I add the .diff file with all the required changes on the source code to get the toggle the bar on and off, so anyone building a new rom from souce could implement this "feature"

I try this on eos 68. Its working with a big BUT.
No way to trigger the status bar back in application. Rotate the screen didnt work either.
Most of apps on market do not have exit button. So i can only use restart using log press power button.
I hope you could add the toggle setting on log press power button. That will do the jobs.

I understand about how to use. But if you could change the setting apk to include in display setting menu. Why not add it to the long press power button menu where the shutdown, reboot recovery and soo on.
It would become easy to use without need extra swipe application.
Just advice. No need to angry.
Nb: when using mxvideoplayer playing movies. Cannot toggle the status bar. But dice player just fine.
Amazing mod, you dont even need swipe pad. Thanks man.
You can just change back and forth from settings, sometimes after you select the bar again, it wont show, make a rotation and it will show again.

[script] Xtive JetLauncherv4(beta) Pseudo-ProjectButter(optional Seeder)

I'm still quite frustrated coming up with a decent name, if you have any nice suggestions do PM me.
I was experimenting some short cuts to battery saving so I reconfigured my build.prop
I put at least 3 nights into this thing not including time used to experiment around!!!
So If It really does help, please click Thanks

Majorly speaking, I am still an inexperienced script kiddie.
But I do like to experiment on my phone a lot.
I'll go straight to the point now.
Disclaimer: I am not responsible for any phone bricking, and by applying this script requires root access which means that your warranty is already voided.
The purpose of this build.prop update is that it saves battery yet increase responsiveness when used such as screen scrolling and stuff.
All the values and lines is not original, someone used them, I just modified so that I think it fits our device the most.
I checked and it seemed that all the remaining stuff in it is compatible with ICS.
I enabled most of the hardware rendering so that when its running it will sort of run turbo or something, at least at the launcher it did.
Again I must inform I am still inexperienced but all the things I experimented on worked on my device.
Requirements:
Device: Samsung Galaxy W or any Qualcomm Devices
Recovery: CWM 5/6
ROM: Rooted Android based OS

We now have flashable version for ALL
These are lines which are already inside your build.prop by default(refered to arco's cm9) but replace values with these new ones.
Code:
dalvik.vm.heapsize=48m
dalvik.vm.dexopt-flags=v=n,o=a,u=y
Enjoy.
Please give me lots of feed back so that I can improve.

nah, but just repeating those lines will do nothing. Go to your build.prob and remove them, then flash if you really want to.
Just to be more specific (if i am not already) they are the same exact line, with no values changed. But a version that adds them without effort (because copy and paste is an effort lol)

Last I checked there's some minor error in the zip file. Do it the manual way, its more safe that way.

I have this what you first uploaded there. It's same as the lines in first post?

I'm not too sure I follow, your question is?
If you're saying the differences between V2.1 and V2.2 its only those replaceable lines.
If you're saying about the zip files, I didn't upload then, 7amada100 made them(thanks), but something inside did not work that's all.
I'll try to make a flashable zip shortly. For now please continue using the manual method.

[ROM] Stocktimus - Odexed and Deodexed -5-3-14

May I present to you....
Stocktimus Series
Why?!
Even if we, by some MIRACLE, (Yeah right LG/Sprint By summer 2014. HA!!) get updated to Kitkat, there seems to be enough interest in another stock based ROM.
This is just a good base to make a Stock ROM the way you want. Just add the zips in Post #2, if you prefer. (WIP)
What this is...
This is just a stock Rom with some Tweaks built into it. If I didn't see an improvement, it wasn't added. It also has apps moved to /data to make it easier to remove what you don't want.
4-20-14 Stocktimus CE -"Custom Edition" added - This one is customized. See Below
You install this at your own risk!!! But really there shouldn't be any problems.
Install
Choose your flavor: Odexed or Deodexed, or CE
In either TWRP/CWM recovery wipe, /system, /data, /cache, and /dalvic. Just DON"T wipe "internal data". That's your SD
Bootup, depending on which ROM, may take up to 4 minutes. The apps from /data are installing.
It never hurts to go to Settings>System Updates, and update profile/prl
Special instuctions for both versions are in their sections.

Stocktimus Deodexed - Used for Theming or....
Special instructions:
First boot can take up to 4min. Be patient
On first boot, to stop LG Keyboard from FC'ing, you'll need to go into Settings>Language & Input, and enable Google Keyboard
If you want LG Keyboard to work, you'll need to run Xposed framework. Info and thread HERE
When it boots up, turn off Wifi. For some reason it always turns itself on when first booted up.
Then go to Settings>System Updates and update Profile, PRL.

Stocktimus_v1.5 - this will update BOTH Odexed and Deodexed - Only an update, not a ROM

Stocktimus CE - Custom Edition
Instructions:
On first boot go to Settings>Language and input> and enable the keyboard. Otherwise, you'll just have voice KB. Also, enable Xposed, and Viper Sound mod.

Stocktimus CE - 1.5
Just a flashable update. This will wipe /cache, /dalvic and init.d scripts. So if you've added any extra scripts to your init.d, you'll need to add them back.
Before flashing, turn off "Eco-mode"/"Quad core control". This update now has scripts to control the CPU/GPU for better battery and the same performance. I've tamed Viper kernel.
I would recommend NOT using any app that will modify CPU. ie Trickster Mod. I made this because Trickster's settings wouldn't stick
See Change log above

Add-ons - updated 4-22-14
Extras and add-ons - Will update these when I get time - (WIP)
Wifi tether settings:
Device Profile>Generic ICS/JB (wlan0)
Enable Wifi Encryption
That's what I use and it's always worked
And remember, EITHER wifi or Tether per reboot. So if you run one of them, then you need to reboot to use the other.
____________________________________________________________________________
If you want your phone go faster. (Not quite sure how to put that :silly
Go to Settings>Developer Options, about half way down there are 3 settings to adjust timing. Windows,Transition, and Animation. Try those on .5. I just set the Transition one to .5 and I works great for me.
_____________________________________________________________________
Before you do any of the following, make a nandroid backup in recovery!
Kernels:
Stock ZVC - Built in with init.d support. Here
Evolutionmods CodeCraft - this is what Viper kernel is based on - Here
Viper Kernel o/c&u/v - Get it and read it Here
Trickster mod was what I've used with the kernels. But no matter what I tried the settings will eventually change. Using Viper 1.0 or 1.1
_______________________________________________________________________
4X5 Home Sceen- gets rid of the google search bar and gives you more room on the screen - Thanks to Lrod0175 - 4X5 Launcher Works with Deodex.
To work with Odexed. In rooted explorer, go to /system/apps and delete LGHOME3.ODEX. Reboot to recovery and install 5x4 launcher. Done

If you want to change your boot animation, and it's not flashable, you can DL the Sprint with no sound above, open the zip with 7zip and replace the bootani with the one you want. Just make sure you name it bootanimation.zip. You shouldn't have to worry about permissions.
Heres a few if you want. Theres more in our Theme section

Modded LGBrowser - now with 25 tabs. And BTW, #17-25 do not have the little numbers for the tabs. This will work for all Deodexed Stockish ROM's. It SHOULD work for Odexed if you delete LGBrowser.odex

Thanks engine95, I was getting a little worried there that the Optimus G area was getting a bit like a ghost town. I love the ROMs more when it is stock, not completely stock.
Wait, I forgot to say - FIRST!!
Yeah baby!!
You the man @engine95! Thanks for this!

Thank you sir! Much appreciated man.
USB Debugging is grayed out and can't be turned on in Settings. This is not good. lol Bad flash? (Running DeOdex Version)
Edit: It magically showed up. All is good.
Hate random kernel crashes on Cyanogenmod 11. Hope this doesn't have any.
Could we use Qslide on this ROM if so where can I find it

You can try it. It's in the OpTimus thead here. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=46154045. If it doesn't work you should be able to restore, either your nandroid backup... or the flashable LgSystemUI.apk that's there to. I haven't tried that mod on this ROM yet so let us know.

The Qslide worked but it did that the icons to custom icons in the status bar. So I went back to stock.

I forgot about that, and thanks for trying it.
I remember now that it had to be ported for us. I think international got it and we didn't. Most who tried it didn't feel it was worth the trouble to pursue. I'll talk to Leo and see if it's something I can modify to stock icons.

I'm running actual stock right now. If you want I can pm you a dropbox of the stock boot ani.zip I know you have to set permissions for it to work correctly. And sorry op I didn't mean to hijack the thread with my longass response.
Edit: there seems to be 3 bootups and 2 shutdowns for stock. https://www.dropbox.com/sh/k8foh8dyh6oazwz/0xpLsBRl9M
That's a link to all 5 of them. As far as permissions go, I'll post a screenshot from my file manager showing them. You need to paste them in the folder I show, make sure you delete the old bootanimation.zip or it won't work.
