I hope so, but at this point, I think it's WAY too early to tell. S4 ROM must be leaked first, and then willing developers to start looking at it just to determine the possibility.

Maybe in the fall. Samsung will not want the N2 to have the same version as the N3. Remember 5.0 comes out this summer but Google gives the new version to a Nexus device first. So the N3 will have 4.2.1 or 4.2.2. After it has been out for a while the N2 will get the upgrade.
There will be ports maybe of the S4 but will likely be buggy.

Does anyone know if I were to get the S2 and then root, is there a chance someone could build a rom that has all the nifty features that the S3 is so much bragging about right out of the box? I'm talking about all the camera features, Smart Stay, Direct call, S Voice ect..? Even though the S2 is a year old, but much better than the MT4GS I have. Or is this something that is impossible at this point becuase, even though they are simular but still quite differant. Any thoughts on this?

Buy a GS3 if you want the features of a GS3, GS2 only 100 less I mean if your eligible for full upgrade with tmo or signing new 2yr on classic plan the phone is 381.01 out the door, then a 50MIR

It's possible to flash a insecure kernel via Odin.
So what are we missing for root?

TN Goodness JB rom is supposed to have it when 5.0 drops which should be this week.
can't wait till we get it on stock roms (I like my tw/samsung features) LOVING multi on the Note II
BTW switch to 240dpi multi is SO much more useful at 240dpi.
It makes me sad sometimes that my old Galaxy Note is running 4.2.1, while my new and shiny Note II is still on 4.1.2 (sure I can get a 4.2.1 ROM, but its not CM).
Why the hold up? I have no knowledge about how ROMs are made, or how they are ported, so I cannot say what the holdup is.
But how long did the Galaxy Note have to wait after release to start getting official nightly releases?
Should we expect the same time frame for the Note II?

I have many questions about android 4.4 and I am sure many others do also. I have created this thread as an information database for AOSP 4.4. Also for any information regarding KitKat making its way to T-Mobile Note 3 and how development is coming along.

Regarding kit Kat making it way to gn3 it will probably be minimum 3 months but more than likely 6+ and probably the one of two point updates we see. I am enthused about 4.4 but not Samsung giving it to us right away. Eager to see Google wallet on our phones though.

Since the Nexus 5 is using the same chipset as the Note 3, getting some things going won't be as difficult. I'd give it 2 months before we see a "stable" enough build. I personally don't considering AOSP builds 100% stable as there seems to be bugs with them, IF it's running on a NON-Nexus device... Just a personal feeling on it though...
But those who do want AOSP, it won't take as long as some may think. Note 3 is the only device that's really really new still, G2's been out a little bit, if I'm not mistaken. But like I said, Nexus 5 uses S 800, like the Note 3. It'll come sooner than some may think....

Samsung has confirmed that the S3 will get kitkat. Now its just a matter of waiting for the update to be finished, sent to T-Mobile to be approved, and then pushed out.
So apparently I cant post links yet but if you go to the android and me website, they have an article with a link to the press statement made by Samsung.
Based on the devices on the list, we will probably have to wait a while, at least a month or two is my guess, just considering how new each device is.
Sidenote: if you have a Nexus 5, why do you care about the S3???
Not a rumor, its been confirmed that all U.S S3 variants will be 4.4.2 It makes a lot of sense for samsung to still update firmware on the still pretty popular and 2 year old device like ours. The only thing that could knock my S3 off its pedestal could be the S5, so I'm waiting for Feb 24th to come and see if it seduces me enough to jump on it

I'm just curious why anybody cares about touch wiz kitkat? I've used a few different kitkat roms now including cm11 and they all work pretty well. A few have some quirks but overall they've been easily reliable enough to use everyday. Other than wifi calling what else do you like about TW versus anything else?

I agree with your sentiment. WIFI calling is the only reason I use TW and now, with multiboot, I can have a TW ROM as a secondary ROM and run CM11/AOKP KK as my daily driver.
I'm sure there's a lot of other folks who prefer TW to AOSP - different strokes for different folks.
I've never really liked TW but I'm curious to see how they integrate TW S voice with kit kat Google now.

Since I posted my other response I've ended up going back to TW 4.3. I didn't know this until I tried it but aosp doesn't have tv out like TW does, at least not using the hd I cable I already have. I miss some of the aosp features but I really don't notice any difference between kitkat and jellybean.
kitkat is officially rolling out for the S4. So its the Note 3 and S4 already with updates. Could the S3 be next or would they go for the Note 2 first and leave us last?

Now is when the s4 is getting kit Kat wow. It's all about market strategy. We probably will get it at the earliest by June. Samsung probably doesn't want a 2 year old device running the same thing too close to when the s5 releases.

Shouldn't be to long considering sprint already released 3 build versions on there device manifest. The sprint galaxy s3 kitkat build is now at NC4 which means it should release this month or the next and t mobile shouldn't be far behind.
