Iphone style lock screen - Galaxy S II Themes and Apps

Im using the galaxy s2 with jelly bean installed. I want to use pin unlock but is there something more like the iphone, in android unlocking is a bit slower and has to press 'OK'
after pin. And also using camera directly takes more time as the screen is shown rotating and then we have to insert PIN for that. So if I have to use camera very quick inserting PIN takes time..unlik iphone which offers PIN but for shorcut as we slide the screen up we see the camera already hiding beneath. Any help please?

No if I wanted an iphone I wouldnt post it. I just want that 1 feature because it seems quicker and less troublesome
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda app-developers app

cyanogenmod and aokp rom has this feature,
samsung custom roms may have this too.
i'm using chemeleon rom now and got this feature.

I think that he means that on an iPhone you can have pin lock screen set up and your phone secure but if you want to take a picture you can just show the camera with out unlocking the phone. This has been done by HTC and I don't think it is possible currently

Yeah thats what I mean. I want to use quick camera without unlocking with phone still secured. Unlike ios here its slow to execute it like that
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda app-developers app

Suppose I use a ROM like AOKP to get that feature. How do I restore my back files I do using kies which is saved on PC. Because the new rOM does not connect to lies. Help please
And also if Samsung uses kies, what does a Google phone use to back up?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda app-developers app

Use titanium backup to back up apps and texts. Everything else should be fine with flashing copy music, photos etc to a computer if you want extra security

If you are rooted, I suggest you flash SuperNexus ROM following the instructions here

Ive tried the aokp build 5 jelly bean 4.2.2. Though there are some changes in it, the main thing was only the lockscreen as features like photosphere was not available. So is it possible to use the official ROM and still get the lockscreen of 4.2.2 as an app?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda app-developers app

Just install lockerpro from market.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda app-developers app

Ive gone back to official rom as aokp is not very stable and also lack features and details.
Also lockerpro cannot open camera directly without unlocking like 4.2.2

Hi.
Creator of LockerPro here. In the last update we added the secure camera from Android 4.2.2 so you can access the camera without having to unlock.
Thanks for your interest for our apps.

Take picture w/o unlocking

Is there a picture app/ feature that allows you to quickly take a picture without having to unlock the phone?
Windows and crappie have this features and I wanted on my S3.
Thanks

In settings there is a motion feature u can turn on where u press the screen and turn and it brings you to camera. I don't know if it works with a code though..

Thanks, but the feature mentioned above does not support codes so it does not work when the phone is locked.
Do you have a GS3?
Why not try adding the camera app to one of the shortcuts on the lockscreen?

This is why:
1) Faster camera launch.
2) You don't have to enter a password every time you want to take a picture yet your phone its still locked/secured.
3) If you want someone else to take a pic, you have to stop and unlock the phone first or give them your password.
4) When the shortcut is on the lock screen, you have to enter the password before allowing you to take the pic. You'll miss the moment.
5) With Windows 7 and Crapple you don't have to unlock and could quickly launch the camera. Also, all the pictures you take at the moment are visible w/o unlocking.
It would be a good feature to have on the GS3.
Would be a great add on

of course that would be an inconvenience if you have a password on your phone (which i understand most people do.) i on the other hand do not as i dont let my phone out of my sight. i use the shortcut but thats just me and like they say to each his own right.
I would assume if you have a pin unlock code or something else it would be there no matter what app you use

There is an app for this but it requires having a dedicated shutter button on the device.
May I ask how you plan to take a picture without having some sort of GUI?

The stock ROM for my old HTC Amaze did this. I I don't know why Samsung didn't include it.

If memory serves me right, that has a dedicated camera button. If you really really really want this feature, you could remap the home button to function as your camera button, then run the navigation bar that appears in galaxy nexus devices and devices without hardware buttons
Can't you make a tasker function for that

here you go
Here is a link of how exactly this is done using tasker.
http://tasker.wikidot.com/bypass-pattern-from-lockscreen-with-camera
You can wait for Android 4.2 since this functionally is now built into the lock screen.

Yes it does but I didnt have to use the button to do it. You pushed the unlock button, then slid the lock ring onto the camera icon (assuming you had it on your lock screen) and you could take a picture. You would see the 3 sec preview of it, and then take more pics. If you tapped the small pic of the last image, and it would take you to the pattern/number lock. That way someone couldn't see your pics without the pass.

Curious

What do you think will be the next update for the GNII to improve it to be more like a tablet? Any ideas?
Swyped by Me & My GNII
I was wondering the same thing, but to be totally honest with you, it's already like too perfect. I really don't know anything else that can be done to it to make it any better except maybe, being able to use the voice feature on it without being connected to the Internet? Just my 2 cents.

Being able to designate which apps are by default started in full-phone or full-tablet UI mode would be great.

I really doubt they will enable tablet mode, they have tablets for that. That and for most people the screen is still to small from the tablet UI. heck even the Nexus 7 runs the same UI as the Note 2 does

I don't know, I think the whole phablet thing had many hesitant about this phone. I sincerely hope you're right though. I love CM10, PA, and other similar ROMS but they take so much time to get fully functional. I just hope there is Dev out there who will jump in and take it on for our Sprint variant.
the note II is anything but perfect. I have a lot of "gripes" with it.
first 320dpi. seriously? is that a joke I could not root it fast enough to get it going at 240dpi. Ahhh so much better
burst mode is borked. the huge delay built into the implimentation on the Note II renders is useless. as a temp fix use best shot its instant but only 8 shots.
on my S3 I can assign my favorite upload method (imgur for pictures youtube for video) as defaults. just tap the imgur or youtube icon and its going
this is GONE in the NOTE II I have to tap share and scroll to my selections EVERY TIME. very annoying once you got used to the S3 way.
toggles are gone. so I can't turn off mobile data etc.. on the Note II easily from the pull down like I can on the S3.

Honestly.....

Why does Google do such weird things all the time? I know other people have to think the same thing about why they design an OS the way they do. For instance clicking the clock in the status bar takes u to time settings instead of clock or calendar(when we all have auto time enabled)? And I'm pretty sure(at least I hope) its a bug, but the stupid new camera rotation is beyond dumb. And why they took the so much fun camera effects out, I may never know... I do love Google but just question their Dev team sometimes... sometimes a lot
But that is why we have these wonderful devs across the forums. I can't thank you guys/gals enough!!!!

The slow camera rotation is intentional. The Android Dev team spoke about it. As for camera effects, I don't know how many people actually used them. Sure, Mac users seem to use them quite a bit, but I don't know about Android users.

Yea I meant alarms.. Lol. Or even clock app would be smart
Why on EARTH would u want camera lag when changing the phone orientation... Then u end up missing Ur shot!
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
The rotation lag doesn't bug me too much. It usually takes a second or less to rotate. I usually know what orientation I want my picture to be, so I'll press the camera app in that orientation.

Just lock rotation when you want to use your camera, if you are using a rom with toggle rotation it wont be that hard to press a toggle.
I personally always disabled rotation, and only enabled it when i want to use it.

Another thing that bothers me is app drawer. the black background is still stuck in the Gingerbread era.
If I lock rotation to to a pic in landscape its going to take the picture in portrait but I guess u could just rotate it in the gallery... But still useless as fuhk. I'd rather deal with the lag of swiping to my pictures than the actual camera itself... Come one Google... You're better than this... Back to 4.1 camera I am

Strange Ads on CM10.1

I sometimes use the emoji keyboard that I downloaded off of the Play Store, but right now I 'froze' the app via Titanium Backup Pro because almost 3 times a day, I will get strange advertisements in my notification bar/drawer. And note that I only see this in this CyanogenMod ROM I'm running right now, when I'm running stock TouchWiz, these strange ads never appear. Is there any way to prevent these annoying ads?
Forgot to mention that I do have AdAway installed and working, but it doesn't work for the emoji keyboard.
I'm running CyanogenMod Version: 10.1-20130304-EXPERIMENTAL-d2tmo-M2

You can try using an air push blocker, or a different keyboard like go keyboard or kii which both have emoji inputs

why not just show your screen caps?
I've set it up with basic buttons like, back, home, recent apps, menu. I always use it coz it just appears on the side or bottom screen so i don't have to look down to press home or whatever.

Yeah ive tried it for all those things, found that the integrated phone features were easier and more user friendly. I like the feature and idea, just need the proper functionality for it.
