[Q] I lost 4g and need help getting it back.

I flashed Sonic 4.1.1 right after I got this phone (in November), and it worked awesome until last week when I tried to flash 4.2 on it.. I lost 4g and now it mostly stays on Edge.. Any ideas...? I did all the fixes I could find on XDA, I flashed back to factory,, Factory reset it, and everything I could think of... I'm stumped and my phone is slow..

Thanks mrhaley, I tried removing the RAT restrictions, and switching to Automatic, then choosing all lte, but still no good.. In fact All lte made me lose signal completely.. Any other ideas before I call At&t? haha

Try going back to stock and start all over or flash your current modem/Baseband and see what happens

I am currently back to fresh stock and factory reset..

Choose all lte first then automatic. Since your stuck on edge select all wcdma too. Just select automatic as the last thing you do before exiting that menu.

Great directions guys! it's working now.. Whew, I missed my 4g...

Well, you all helped me figure out how to get 4g, Now how do I get it to stay connected.. It will only stay connected for a few mins now, then it goes to E.. I can get 4 g at will now, but it won't stay connected...

hows the ol' IMEI? i'm mentioning it because i havent heard you specifically mention whether or not you lost/restored it

Thanks for asking... Yes I did lose the IMEI, and had to restore it.. I also went to radio shack and got a new sim card. I have factory flashed and reset it and did all the steps on the link above..

My internet data frequently disconnected

Hello,
i am back again with a new problem!
All the previous problems that was mentioned in this forum is GONE. i was a happy owner. Until i got this problem.
so i wanted to try new Modem, just so i can increase my Signal, and right now, my data plan is keep going on and off, and most the time i can't get it connected it.
i did the wipe date /factory reset from the ROM manager, and wipe cache and dalvik. and yet the problem is not solved.
right now, am running cm-10.1-20130304-EXPERIMENTAL
and the Modem am currently running which sometimes works ( I747MVLDLK4 ) am with Rogers, Canada, Edmonton, AB
If anyone helped me out with this, your next coffee is on me! for real!

When I have Wifi or Signal/Data issues, I just Odin back to stock and then re-root & flash ROM again. Works every time.

Thanks man, i really hope it works! , am gonna try this now.. When i restore to the stock, dose my based band goes to default or shall i manually do that?

just restore to the stock Rom. i still have no data connection, and now i can't even call or send a text....

Did you use ODIN to flash the stock ROM and factory reset in stock recovery ?

Yes! i think i did a mistake. While i restored to the stock rom, The baseband that i was using it was I747MVLDLK4 and not the STOCK modem. So maybe that is why its not getting connected? am trying to apply the stock modem into the the stock rom, but its giving me Fail error.
am just scratching my head right now to be quite honest and this close to throw my cellphone outside of the balcony.

What type of fail error?
How are you trying to flash it?

i managed to make my modem into the stock version. However am just getting "E" in my data connection. Reminder am still in STOCK ROM and stock modem now. is that a good sign that i slighty getting everything back??
should i just install the CM 10.1 now and see the results or what you guys recommend?

annnnnnnnnd my " E" is gone.. Beautiful
do you guys think it might be a actual physical sim card issue?

UPDATE: i restored my phone into the stock rom by Odin3 and now i just re flashed the Cm 10.1 again. sadly i still have no connection and my income and outcome for calling and texts is also not working.

Try flashing Task's AOKP and see if you have the same issue. Additionally, try deleting the current APNs (access point names) and manually enter the APN settings for your carrier. Could also just be a faulty SIM card as you mentioned.

You have your imei still ? I don't see that mentioned.... this sounds like that issue. flashing between TW and Custom it can happen

Thanks guys for the feedback, but i have managed to fix the problem, this post was before i know that i lost my IMEI...
All good now, everything has be resolved.

[Q] Flashed Paranoid Android 3.60, Went Back to Stock Backup, lost 4g LTE

See title. I recently flashed PA. I found it was kind of terrible on the battery life. So I just went back to my Touchwiz nandroid. However, ever since doing so, I don't have 4G LTE, just 3G. Any suggestions?

Well the obvious, did you go into mobile networks and make sure lte/cdma was checked?

Yup. I went back to settings it was listed as "global" but I changed it to LTE/CDMA.

Use an Odin tar to go back all the way
Flash an Odin all in one tar, with modem file

Could you break that down a little further for me? I've never used Odin, my apologies.

also try switching mobile networks to LTE/CDMA/EVDO and then doing a reboot directly afterwards. that usually works.

While you are on touchwiz, do a factory reset, and then do a hands free activation by dialing ##72786#. Let it activated a prl update etc, the check if you can connect to LTE.

So I tried this and I got 4G on Touchwiz. However when I flashed back to a nandroid I had made with LiquidSmooth, I again only had 3G. Any tips on how I can retain $G. This has something to do with the CM build with the wonky 4G right? Thanks.

maybe something vent won by with your backup. try afresh install and see how that goes.

Radio issues with 4.2 Roms

Hi all, I am again posting about having radio issues. (NO T-Mobile signal) Any 4.2 Rom I try to install, I am unable to obtain phone service. (signal)
Here is what I did:
1. Start from scratch, total erased phone and sd card and micro card.
2. Odin flash stock Rom and Odin flash latest TWRP
3. Copy Rom to SD card and flash. (flash is fine)
4. No signal, flashed newest UVM6 radio, all kind of wipes.
My phone is SGH-T989 T-Mobile. I even changed the APN, but still only pick up AT&T which still having no signal bars. I tried flashing all radios available with no help at all. I am able to use certain 4.1.2 Roms such as Infamous 3. I even tried different kernels, different wipes and just can not get any T-Mobile signal service. I have tried searching for any and all radio issues for this phone. NOTHING works for me. Can anyone or does anyone have same problem that came up with a solution to get a signal for T-Mobile for these Roms? I am currently using the Infamous 3 Rom using Arc kernel. Actually the only other Rom I can use it the stock deodexed rooted base. Very frustrated not being able to use these great looking Roms, HELP please! Thanks for any information or solution. BTW, I have tried everthing and every type of wipe to no avail.

do you still have your IMEI or does it shows blank and unknown ??

I am having the same issue. It does show my imei # though. How do I fix this?

K....here is about everything. If none of this is your problem, since you say you've checked everything....and yes, I have read your other thread....in which you repeatedly say you tried everything, then you have a hardware issue, or are simply doing something wrong and telling us you did it right.
Not getting a signal.....
- not using latest T-Mobile or Telus radio. Maybe you flashed it, but is it actually showing as that radio in settings??
- APN settings are wrong or don't exist. Lets pause here. You said you checked apn and only pick up at&t. Or am I misreading that. If you don't have the correct T-Mobile apn settings, then you wont get a signal or data. Period. This has to be correct before bothering with anything else. You said you checked. Against what?? I've seen plenty of apn settings when Googling it, some simply don't work. Maybe they are old settings, wrong phone, whatever. I'm Telus, so can't help you with the settings for T-Mobile.
- what has already been posted above needs to be correct.
- maybe radio file you flashed was wrong one or corrupt. Perhaps try the Telus one. Should work too. Since T-Mobile radio works on Telus.
- restoring any system data after a flash? Huge no no.
- wrong mobile band selected?
- and a possibility .....simply no signal where you are. Or it's a weak signal, and your assuming it doesn't work?? Ignore this if you have a very strong signal usually where you live. 4.1.2 to 4.2.2 shouldn't affect signal much if any.
Anyway.....that's about all there is to it if you are CLEAN flashing roms and following instructions to the letter. I am confident you will say all the above is good....and if so....I am afraid you will probably find no answers like your other thread. Meaning you have an extremely rare issue. I have been dealing with this problem for weeks, and I can almost guarantee you don't have the radio right and that's the problem. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2385987.

That would certainly make sense!
He's got something wrong for sure. Or he's got a strange phone that won't work with 4.2. And I doubt that very much.
He's got wrong radio, or wrong or missing APN settings.
Or wrong phone, sim or carrier.

Well he says he's got the Hercules, it's the exact same phone I'm using I think, I hope he gets on and checks the link out, cuz it worked first try for me, I hope to share the satisfaction of solving this very frustrating problem.

I have tried all radios and used exact apn settings as stock with working signals. As stated in last few posts I must have hardware issue, but thanks to all who have tried to help!

Thanks for helping and I think your right about being boned or hardware issue. I have tried different downloads of radios, both Telius and Tmobile and copied APN settings from working stock Rom. Maybe bad Sim, anyway I will have to stay with what I have until I get new phone, which is soon. Thanks again!

anyways i haven't had signal problems since flashing radio tar file. i've lost signal like once. before i was losing it everyday. hope this helps.

[Q] Network Unavailable After Flashing New Rom

I have a Note ii n7100
I flashed to Paranoid Android earlier in the year and thought I'd try out something else for fun again this morning.
I first went to monxdified (monxDIFIED-N7100-XXDME1-13-01.zip) and there was cell signal but I couldn't get onto a cell network (I'm a three UK customer). It would say registered on network but would never actually register.
I then tried selecting a different radio in the installer, the top one, rather than the 2nd one - I was guessing that this was the issue. Same problem.
I then tried going to cyanogen (what I saw as a more trusted/well known rom to try that out) - this time it finds the network but says there is no signal and that (3UK) is unavailable.
I've been reading and I may have wiped my imei number, at this point I got scarred and thought I'd check here before messing this up any further.
I hope I've put this thread in the correct place. Thanks in advance.
Note: I can still read a value for my imdi number in settings, hopefully this means it isn't lost?

I've gone right back to defaults now with odin and am beginning to think it's an issue with my SIM.
Just closing this thread.

Don't forget to take your EFS backup.
Maybe you will live that problem again.

no it is not a SIM problem, i have the same problem, i did a backup for the previous rom but there is no network signal at all.
it would be great if anybody will help.

try downgrade your modem..

I didn't take an EFS Backup, the last time flashed a new ROM (Paranoid Android) I didn't need to. I assumed this would be the same story.

When you say you get no signal can you search for and find networks, only not connect? (That's my story)

To what version, which file and how? Like I mentioned in my last post, I've gone back to absolute factory settings and now my phone counts as unrooted. I'm thinking of just sending it to samsung. I assume they'll fix the issue if I pay them?

After looking into the issue some more it seems my IMEI has been wiped. Not sure if there's anyway out of that one...
