Especially those running JB 4.2.2 on Gnex GSM ...whats the best or your most preferred daily driver/go-to kernel?
I'm personally running aokp jb mr1 build 5 with franco kernel r366

Please add more options or an option for "other"...
I'm using Fancy r9 currently and it's working very nicely. Don't have enough experience with many others to say it's the best but it's good enough for me.

Cylon 801 kernel, i used to use Franco but ak are miles ahead.

purity v030
I'm using purity v030, and like it more than franco or trinity. Performance is much better!

Best rom for Galaxy Nexus?

What rom do you currently have on your galaxy nexus?
just got a nexus and has kang rom on it. i want to know what the best rom is
battery life and such things.
THANKS BROS
AOKP and lean kernel. Fastest and best battery life.

AOKP and some kernel. I personally use Franco Kernel but look around and see what you like the most.
where can i find this rom? thanks for quick replies
Check the Dev section.
Goodluck!
Now with AOKP, use to be Slim. Both of them are great.
right now i think AOKP is the best. i used the official CM9 nightlies and there were pretty awesome, but still needs some features that i really need
Official CM9 Nightlies, Franco kernel.
Faster than the speed of light.

I'm using codename and just recently switched to francos 18.4 and now 18.6 kernel. I have zero complaints, the only thing I haven't gotten to work is Google plus hangout video chat but I haven't updated to the latest gapps yet. I bet I will try akop one day since it is so popular (maybe at milestone 4) but I have no reason to. Codename is killer smooth.

I was running ARHD but switched to the most recent CM9 nightly earlier this morning. CM9 is faaaaassst and so far no issues. Oh and I'm using the stock CM9 kernel.

When people say you have to try every from and find one for you, that's completely untrue for the galaxy nexus, once you try AOKP you won't change at least until MIUI is official for me

Definitely liking AOKP Milestone 3. Plenty stable for me, and adds some nice features not included with the stock ROM. Paired with GladOS 1.15 kernel. Butter smooth, ~3+ hours screen on time with the stock GSM battery.
apparently aokp is the boss rom
AOKP and lean kernel+ leantweaks

AOKP and Morfic Trinity kernel... I've been testing alot of kernel and trinity is by far the smoothest and as amazing battery life! And for those who use quadrant as reference ; I average 3700 on ondemand

How is trinity in comparison to lean?

Why is everyone who uses AOKP suggests other kernel? Is the kernel that comes with AOKP not good enough?

I personally got best battery life and smoothness using lean kernel after testing every other kernel. Different results for different people I guess so you'll have to try kernels out yourself and see what you find best

I've just switched to the Glados Kernel found on RootzWiki with AOKP, and it's the best combination I've tried so far I think.

[Q] New member Galaxy Nexus

What's Rom good for me ? now
Axi0m hybrid or wait for Gummys next rom which will be 4.0.4
4.0.4 adds noticeable speed gains. It was just released on AOSP so most roms should be updating soon. Axi0m was using an unofficial 4.0.4 release mixed with official 4.0.3 (aka hybrid). It currently runs the best for me.
Gummy has great battery life but it stutters
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
Thank you so much .I'll try
I would go for AOKP 29 with franco r.116 kernel, its a great, fast and energyefficient combo, without stutters
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA
Welcome.
look around at all the ROMs and make your decision on your own. I don't want to be biased but +1 for AOKP 29 + 116
at least look for a ROM updated to 4.0.4 as it contains crucial fixes for the GN.
GummyNex gets my vote for best ROM. I've been using franco's, GlaDOS,faux & matrix kernels. Im seeing the best results from franco.
Sent from my (GSM) i9250 Galaxy Nexus
AOKP, Gummy, Bugless Beast, Liquid, Codenamed Android, Rootzboat, BAMF, CM9 nightlys and AXI0M are all quality roms, I got nandroids of all of them.

I know, I know there is probably a thread out there already.

Just traded my razr maxx for a cdma nexus. Obviously I know I'm going to notice a huge difference in battery life. So my question is what rom/kernel combos are providing the best results in battery life, speed, and stability. Feel free to bash me, but, please leave me your opinion ;-)
If your title states there is already a thread... why are you making another one?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
Because I cant find the thread im looking for. Xda search sucks.
i like
aokp comes with faux123. its ****in sweet.
i always go back to imoseyons lean kernel
favorite rom is aokp.
oh check your pms
I'm on Liquid ROM 1.25 it's smooth and lasts whole day for me with about 40% left when I go to bed.
Hope this helps.

Liquid with stock kernel?
Why did you trade your max for a Nexus? I have an offer that's why I'm asking.
Development?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
CM9 + GLaDOS 1.28 ... CM9 is super stable with lots of features and it has none of the other bloat and bugs found in other roms out there (i've tried them all crack flashing and always come back to CM9) GLaDOS is simply the best kernel out there right now especially with EzeKeel's new Wheatly governor and vibration control ... best performance, batter life and stability ... if you don't know now you know
aokp b31 with franco r121, near 5 hour screen time and got me through full day too, with 14 left.
nothing surpasses franco kernel, and the best rom with most customizations is aokp. if u wanna go lite, try slimics with franco, also beast

Ive been running...
AOKP 4.2.2 Milestone build and franco kernel Nightly #378 (Full Version for all features). Then a little tweaking and modding and your phone will be a beast!! Haven't flashed a new rom in almost two months that's how sturdy and bugless this rom is.

A Couple Questions From A New GNexus Owner

Hey Guys! Coming here from my SGS II actually haha. I just like the feel of this phone better!
So I had a few questions to start off with.
This one is solely based on whoever may be reading this's opinion. Which kernel do you feel atm gives you a fair balance of smooth performance and good battery life (and hopefully no heat issues).
The second question is kind of two questions. Does the Toroplus get CM10 nightly's yet? It seems that theres alot of kang's with cherry picks which i guess are coming from toro? And does anyone know if pete plans to give us toroplus users some JB bugless-beast awesomeness?
Thanks for taking the time to read
I'm trying aokp atm and it runs smoothly!

Hey buddy look in cm thread, I believe we have official cm10 night lies and cm 9 weeklies, and I recommended francos kernel

I'm using MinCo which is optimized for Franco Kernel. And obviously Franco Kernel. So far smoothest and most stable ROM I have used.

Hey guys! I sure do appreciate the responses! This seems like a super nice group of people here . If anyone has any other suggestions ill take em and thanks again!!
Is customization what you want? Or just smooth and stable rom?
If customization, I would recommend poking around sprint Gnex dev forum. A lot of good and customizable roms there!
If smooth and stable, just stock. Really. Jelly bean is only android version that I wouldn't be disappointed even with Stock rom and kernel.
Overall, I would recommend d you to use stock for awhile and then if you're not happy with it, try popular custom roms.
Have a nice day and welcome!

[Q] Recommended Kernels

What Kernels do you guys recommend? I have been using Franco.Kernel on my Verizon GNex for a long time and love the performance, but hate that it is not compatible with my Nexus dock (will not detect it, so no automatic daydream with clock at night). I tried Trinity Kernel from their app and frankly the 4.2.2 stable kernel gave disappointing performance and the default color settings on that kernel are so dark. What do you guys recommend for a kernel that will work with the Galaxy Nexus dock.
You should try lean and anarkia. They are also pretty awesome kernels
Ak kernel is the best. Try it
