[Q] Video Camera Horrible Audio Quality - T-Mobile, Samsung Galaxy SIII

I attend alot of concerts that are very loud with heavy bass and every time I record the video looks good and is super clear but as soon as you listen to the video the bass totally drowns out the sound and is just a big static noise every time a beat is dropped. I'm wondering if there is any camera i can flash that helps this with better recording for audio? i have flashed on my s3 the zettajoule rom with the camera that comes with. I'm going to Ultra Music Festival next weekend and i want to be able to record great videos with good sound, thanks!

Camera recording Video+Sound quality test

I wanted to test the camera performance. What better place to do than at a concert?
Drake Concert in Amsterdam of past Sunday.
Quality is very good, but noise cancellation sometimes kickes in and destroys the sound

I had a thread a while back asking for raw video samples from peeps here that I can directly download instead of youtube uploads. It's probably 10 pages back now. Would love if you could put some raw video on a download site.
Regarding the concert vids. I think they are pretty terrible to be honest. Slow and blurry and the audience and dark areas are literally black silhouettes. The audio was really epileptic, like I was going in and out of a seizure. You are right, it must be the audio cancellation doing its thing. The audio otherwise is pretty subpar when it isn't going up and down.

Noise cancellation? Havn't tried it yet.
had exactly the same result at a gig a couple of days ago.... Video camera going in and out of focus and the sound totally messed up by what i assume to be noise cancellation.
The twin mike's are supposed to record in stereo so it shouldnt be using the noise cancelling

i think audio is in amr format right?
i think HTC should upgrade to aac format like galaxy nexus, ICS supports aac format for audio in video recording.
either way i don't think the mic on one x can handle concert audio, nokia pureview 808 should be ok. even sony nex series can't handle concert audio very well. but panasonic gf2 is very good in concert recording, no cracking and muffled sound.
I don't know what format it records sound.
Then it must not be noise cancellation then. The videos I've downloaded show AAC in stereo. The format makes no difference. It could be wav, mp2, mp3, ra, ogg, etc., all of which can render high quality CD audio. The audio recording just sucks really bad, for whatever reason.
Was at an event yesterday and used my phone to record this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V6z3p11RcMQ
surprisingly it's way better than my digital camera
Had the same issues especially going in en out of focus even in good light conditions.
Haha, the sound quality is a bad joke ...
What if you turn off stereo sound recording? Maybe there is a stupid bug associated with it.

[Q] Video Recording Issues

So I took my OG to a Fallout Boy Concert, was taking various video of my fav. songs, the video quality on full HD is amazing. My fiances iphone paled in comparison, however, the audio is not useable, it is scratchy and extremely muffled and raspy. I know it is probably the bass and drums, but her iPhone was able to handle the sound great. Does anyone have any suggestions for recording this kind of video/audio? Is there an app, or settings of some kind, or is it just the way the phones video (More audio I guess) recorder is?
Thanks!

You could buy a rode cameralav microphone. I'm not sure if it's only for iPhone but I figure as long as you have a 3.5mm headphone jack you should be okl

G3's Audio quality when recording concerts (or really loud music in general)

I realized that there were a few posts regarding the audio quality of a video recorded during a concert/festival/really loud music scenes. A couple of them were questions, and some were answers with videos which have now been removed or blocked by Youtube due to their legal constraints. So I decided to post my video in hopes to help those who would like to know how good or bad the G3 performs in such loud environment. Please read on.
So, last week, I finally got a chance to record a video of a concert using my G3, and at first I feared that the audio quality will be sub-par again, like my GS3 or Nitro HD, etc. I feared that although the video will look amazing, the sound will crackle and break and hiss etc. Well, hear it for yourself below.
Do note that I chose to record the video using the camera's Slo-Mo feature, which resulted in the video being in 720p only but at 120Hz. Unfortunately, for some reason, the quality of the video is actually lower than 720p, where you can see pixelation at times and at others just blurriness. I have some other videos that are in the normal 4K mode, I will upload it when I find it.

So after watching the video, I'm sure you guys are pleased to know that the audio quality on this phone is amazing. Not a loss in clarity, and the bass does not crackle or break, and the different levels are clearly distinguishable. Singer's voice is sharp and clear, even the background singers can be heard as well. I say we have a winner in a concert camera phone!
Very close to the stage at the last Crue concert...extremely loud. Clear as a bell.
Impressive stuff. The distortion-free sound was one of my favorite things about my old One M7, I was wondering how well the G3 could deal with it seeing as they glossed over it at the reveal event but no one else has mentioned it.
I'm curious about how they've gone about achieving this, I'm guessing it has something to do with that sound "filter" that is applied to videos as you record them, I wasn't a fan of it in the past as it made background sounds and such sound muffled, but it does make voices a lot clearer and if it means that the G3 keeps its cool in loud environments, I guess I can live with it.

Video recording sound quality in very loud places

Has anyone used their Pixel / XL to record video of a live music performance or in a nightclub? I tend to film a lot of live music at concerts large and small and want to know if the audio gets very distorted or not. I currently have a Nexus 6P and it's okay but not great, have to stand fairly far from the stage to avoid distortion. My old HTC phones (M8 and M9) that had a dual microphone setup was nearly flawless in extremely loud places and I really miss that sound quality.
I'm interested in this as well. Anyone tried recording a video in a club or loud concert?
I tested my Pixel XL the other night at a blues club, standing less than 10 feet from the stage and the sound quality is very good, no distortion at all. The sound is a little bit muted in the vocals but much better than my 6P could ever do. I'm quite happy with the sound quality of the video.
