Hi, today I updated whatsapp but then I decided to downgrade in the old version but I didn't restore the conversations and unfortunantly I clicked "backup chat" so I overwrote my conversations and in the folder of whatsapp there is only the new backup!
I don't have root so many programs for android recovery don't work and if I have to root all data will deleted and so (I think) if now I don't have many possibilities to refind my log file of conversation then will be impossible.
If I use a program from mac doesn't find android device and If I use a program from windows I can't select devices because now from Jelly bean there isn't the mass storage...
It's possible to recover my log file of whatsapp's conversations? Any solution?
Thanks!
Did you possibly backup with a program like titanium backup? Otherwise you probably can't get them back.

I would also recommend MyBackup Pro, i use the latest version (v2.3.4) and it works very well. It allows you to backup/restore not only Apps, but Data too (i.e. Contacts, Calendar, Alarms, Cal Log, Bookmarks, System Settings, SMS/MMS, Music Playlist, Dictionary, and Android Home [fixed in most recent version]) either to an online source or to the SD Card. You get a 30-day Trial with MyBackup (not Pro version).

Not only does Titanium backup need you to have root but it needs a working install of busybox as well.
I use Spritebackup, it backs up pretty much everything
Ok this may have been asked before in various forums but i just want to be clear on how / if this can be done. If i flash a rom, is there a way to restore my applications (with market links for updates) , settings sms etc, into the new rom without having to manually reinstall all the settings and reinstall all the programs?
Yep, after rooting you can use a third-party app like Titanium Backup or MyBackup Pro to achieve this. Both available via Marketplace.

I tried My Backup pro for backup my apps, but with te restore on a new rom it said: "parsing error"
The messages and contacts went well tho.
Yes, i also received the parse error when attempting to restore apk's... guess the app still has some flaws

Hello, I have HTC Desire HD. I rooted the phone with Ace Hack Kit and installed Cyanogen on the phone. I have a few questions:
1. I did a rom backup with all my apps installed with ROM manager just before I did the install. Then I did the factory erase and did a rom backup again saving it under a different name. My question is when you do a rom backup does it backups everything such as your apps, messages in inbox...
2. On HTC I had HTC sence so If I lose my phone I would be able to trace it and lock it or erase it. Can I install this on Cyanogen?
3. I had some messages in inbox, but they didnt come back when I synhronized. I was wondering if they are stored somewhere in the rom backup and if I can extract them back or I can just install the rom backup?
Thank you all for help
1. Do not know about the sms/mms, but it backs up everything apps ect, and you will find those in clockwork recovery / restore / advanced restore / system /data (i think)
2. Go to the market and install Cerberus, its classed as a free app but it does ask for a 2euro donation to unlock all features, which is the cheapest app on the market for what it offers you in protection with out any monthly fees ect.
3. Text messages are not synced with google servers, if they are stored on the backup i dont know what they would be under maybe someone else can help you out with that one, but imo they are only text messages, im pretty sure it wont be long before someone else texts you again. (You could always in the future use smsbackup and just make a backup before you flash a new rom again)
Try titanium to back everything

adb backup if you're not rooted.
If rooted then titanium backup pro best app available for tasks like this. Has a batch feature to backup what you need and restore again also you can save your backup to dropbox.

It is somehow helpfull, but still:
It works for all user installed apps flawless.
BUT i cannot complete it for system apps! For none of them! It doesnt give me an error or so, it (the progress bar) just freezes when trying to backup sys apps....
My phone is of course rooted...

google
lots of free apps that do this

Doesn't HTC have built in solution for this?I thought I see something about this during setup ....
Sent from my HTC One using xda premium
During setup you can configure with pc and with bluetooth some file from desire to one
If you're rooted on desire, you can use titanium, if not, you can use carbon
if you just want to transfer the apk's without data, you can just copy all the apk files from data/app/ to your computer then copy them to your new phone and install them manually also.

Use titanium backup to put all your backed up apps into an update.zip, transfer it to the One and flash away to get back all your apps and data

Use an app called Helium. With it you can back up your apps to your phone, computer, or Dropbox. You have the option of backing up just application data, or both the appdata and the app.
When you launch Helium on the new device, you can just restore from the method of your choosing. It takes only a few moments before you have all your apps back as well as all of the applications' settings/data.
