half hour ago, it was ALL good.
15 or 20 mins ago when I was texting. suddenly the hardware buttons touch vibration refuse to work (volume rocker, long press power button, menu, back)
the vibration motor is 100% normal. I still have UI haptic feedback. like sidebar, dialer key press and all other UI haptic feedback all working fine.
Only the hardware button touch won't trigger vibration.
I tried to refresh the rom, kernel but still the same.
I know I could flash the stock rom and test but it would be a lot of effort. So I figure I'd ask here if anyone have this same problem before or have any idea if this
is hardware failure or just software problem?
I want to know if I need to sent my phone back to Samsung to get service.
Thanks in advance.
did you enable power saving mode?
when you enable it the haptick feedback goes away and when u turn it off is stays like that
you should re enable it from the power saver menu I guess

Similar query..
Though I don't use power saving mode, yet touch on vibration is not working.. Haptic feedback is clicked..
Is it because of having navigation bar enabled??

If I get what you trying to say here, you can try button saviour(root), there is a screen off and other onscreen buttons features(back/home/menu/vol etc) that's quite handy too.
If thats an app bro sorry not the one im looking for..
Im looking for something to edit in the phone to make the screen off by pressing a custom button, e.i pressing the home twice and the screen is off. Press once and the screen is on.
The power button is too far, i mean my finger needs to jump there just to turn off the screen. If u get me bro..

umm i don't think there is a mod for such a particular and specific personal perference
There are tap to execute and similar app that make use of the Proximity sensor of the phone to wake up phone without having to press the power button.
Personally I only tried softpower.
Description
Turn screen OFF and turn screen ON without touch power button.
SoftPower will safe your physical power button by use Search button or notification to turn screen OFF(and lock) and use proximity sensor changing to turn screen ON.
Note:
-Proximity sensor on device is required for Turn ON function to work.
-To uninstall, do this first. Settings-> Locations & Security(or Security in ICS)-> Device Administrators then uncheck SoftPower.

ive been looking for this too, since ALL SCREEN OFF APPS dont make your phone go into deep sleep resulting into battery drain, only the physical power button can make you phone into deep sleep and auto idle i think, im looking for a shorcut not widget or app to mimic the physical power button so i can set it into gesture and alike to make my phone go into deep sleep
try cm10 fxp150, u can easily lock your screen from notification bar
If you install cm10 I'd recommend enabling the navigation bar and setting the back button long press to make your phone sleep. It's wonderful to use!

Besides having to wake the phone, the power button is useless to me. I use apps like RomToolBox to restart and go into recovery. Goo.im App can go into recovery as well. When the phone dies during business ours, which never happens, I can plug it into a usb and boot up by holding vol+and vol- to boot or just put into my cars dock and it boots without power button. I use CM based roms with volume rocker wake. besides that, the phone also wakes from unplugging and plugging chargers...Power button doesn't really matter to me as long as volume rocker wake is enable.
im interested in this as well, my power buttom died once already and got it fixed, but I try to press it as little as possible.
so op, your power button isnt 'stuck' but totally broken? im just scared the my button will stick and stay in a bootloop. Btw you can use 'spob' app to wake the phone using the proximity sensor. Right now im using switch pro and lock the phone and spob to wake it - dont have to use the powee button at all haha

Did anyone at HTC actually use this device? The power button is an absolute joke. 50% of the time I wind up messing with the volume on my way to turn the phone off and put it back in my pocket.
How do you guys sleep this thing? The nexus 5 buttons are so much better.

i think he is talking about the power button location?
anyway, there are many different ways to turn of the screen.(root needed)
1.swipe2sleep
2.notification double tap on viper rom
3. OR u can just customize a button on ur NAV bar to turn off the phone

First I have a nexus5 also and there is no comparison on the buttons. They rattle when you shake it. Anyways maybe you have a bad device. I just set mine to hold home to turn screen off so I never even have to hit the button but my button works fine if I need it.

Indeed. I'm contemplating a return and sticking with either my moto x or nexus 5 so k won't be rooting it at the moment.
Its bizarre that they added motion gestures basically acknowledging the button isn't great, is there no off gesture?

I use Screen Off and Lock app found on the Play Store. Works great.

I will look into this. Seems odd HTC has an "on" method (acknowledging they need one in addition to the sleep button) but not an off button.

This is how mine works too.
--- OP, I used to do the same thing with my m7. After a couple weeks of use I stopped doing it.

Except sometimes, I long press the power button, then I get a short vibration & several options regarding resetting or powering down my phone. Thanks for confirming the presence of the other features tho! I am glad to see that the power button functions to start the device, as well as turn the display on & off. I am certainly happy to discover that the power buttons function didn't change just because HTC located it somewhere other than where LG located it!
Seriously, I also have a N5 (with ZERO button issues, rock solid), but I much prefer the HTC button placement. No accidentally turning the device off while just trying to adjust the volume with only a left hand available at the time.

Yeah, I actually prefer the button being in the top. I never really liked the power button on the side.
My hands aren't big either, if anything they're smaller than an average guy.
It just takes a small shift to turn it off with one hand, just being careful you don't press the volume buttons. Which became easy after a couple days of use for me.

It seems there could be a combination of keys/gestures that can turn the capacitive keys off.. But nobody yet has been able to figure our either the lock or unlock combination
I guess your only option is to flash back to stock

Kinda Fixed the Problem, All I Did Was Change The Theme? Thats Weird But Thanks :highfive::laugh::fingers-crossed:
No issues with my phone but I'm wondering is there a way to turn off the led on the back button and the other square button? That's my only issue. I don't like them turning on all the time. I can live with it turning on but I was just wonderin.
If you put it in medium power saving mode it will turn those lights off for you, among other things of course. I can't find a way to do this without enabling power saving mode.
Some carriers have removed that option from the settings. If that's the case with yours, as it is with mine, you can use the app Galaxy Button Lights 2 from the Play Store to turn them off. I'm using the app and it works great.
