[Q] Lost Root Access after TiBackup? - AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III

Hey all,
I've been running CM 10.1 nightlies (currently on 03.09.13 nightly) and it was running fine yesterday. Last night I purchased the full version of Titanium Backup and installed it... I backed up all my "user apps" to my SD card and everything was fine. Overnight, I tried backing up to Google Drive and went to sleep while it was uploading. This morning it said "failed" something, so I figured I'd just try it later on tonight.
Then I started getting an error from Root Call Blocker saying it could not attain root access. Then I opened up TiBackup and the backup/restore list was completely empty. Next thing I know when I tried rebooting the phone, even TiBackup says the phone is no longer rooted. Anyone have any idea? I tried searching and ended up downloading and installing Superuser from the Android Market (couldn't believe it wasn't already on there?) but that didn't do anything to fix the problem.
Thanks!!

OK so... I decided to just re-flash CM10.1 nightly (the same version I mentioned in my original post) via CWM recovery and lo and behold everything is back to normal. Apps are recognizing that the phone is rooted and I've re-installed TiBackup and it's running the same.
Could anyone comment on what they think may have happened so that I can prevent this from happening in the future? Thanks!

Apps will not install/update anymore

I'm trying to install and update apps from appbrain/market and they will not install or even update. It says starting download and it just sits there. This started yesterday morning and I haven't been able to figure out why it won't download anything at all.
I'm running Fresh 0.3 and even reflashed (w/o deleting data/cache), but that dind't help either.
Any idea why this is occuring?

Has anyone lost root access (temporarily) after installing latest 2.2 roms?

I installed a rom that was based off the released 2.2 that was released on Friday. I had root already and everything worked fine no problem. I flashed the latest radios and wimax and really nothing else. Well today I went to use Titanium Backup and it wouldn't run; just got a black screen. got the FC message. I then tried to use QuickBoot to reboot and that also didn't do anything. I manually powered off and rebooted and still the same actions from both apps. I then tried Wifi tether and that wouldn't start the sharing. Said that it was unable to Start. I think at that point my root access wasn't working properly. I looked at the Superuser permission app and it looked ok. I then tried another app that required root called Ad-Block and it said that it couldn't get root access.
The only way to get the apps working again was to flash the same rom I flashed on Friday. All apps are working fine after the re-flash.
Anyone else have this?

That is possible. I had the same issues. To get the ad-free host files in, I had to do it in recovery mode and push the files which is like having the nand lock. I try to do some programs that require root and it reboots the phone.

[Q] SOLVED Lost root, trying to figure out why. Help, please?

Update 2: Root was still acting wonky. I was getting multiple requests per app and it wasn't remembering my preference even with the box checked. I tried to allow all but it just wouldn't work at all that way. So I went to update the binaries just to be sure and I had version 3.2 while the latest (and I'm assuming stable) version is only 3.1.1. So if anyone has the problems I did, UPDATE YOUR BINARIES! That fixed everything for me.
Update: I uninstalled the Superuser apk via ES File Explorer, reinstalled it from the Play Store, and just let the phone sit while I was browsing and looking for an answer and when I went back to it Superuser opened and my root was back. I'm not sure if what I did helped but if anyone else has this problem then I can only recommend what I did. If someone can explain what I did wrong or why I lost root, that would still be helpful. If this post needs to be deleted then the mods can do so, I left it in case anyone else runs into this and searches the forums for it.
I have the At&t ion and I managed to get root on ICS on my second try. I was happy about it and decided to start flashing some zips after installing CWM so I deodexed, rebooted, and then flashed one of the status bar tweaks. When I rebooted again Superuser would force close as soon as it opened with the message "Unfortunately Superuser has stopped working". I still have root access in ES File Explorer since I granted it before Superuser stopped working. I cannot however grant any new root permissions since Superuser won't open.
I'm willing to reflash GB and start from scratch again, I'd just like to know what the reason is (was it deodexing? Flashing the zip for the status bar? Or is this just something that can happen?) so I can avoid it the next time. I'm not too excited about having to redownload all my apps for the 3rd time (I was living without root on ICS but decided to go ahead and get it) so if there's a way around it I'd like to find it. Any help is appreciated. I'll try to reply as quickly as possible, thanks guys.

[Q] Installed CyanogenMod updates no connection to Play Store

I was running cm-10.2.1 and last night I installed CyanogenMod updates cm-11-20140104-SNAPSHOT-M2 and cm-11-20140210-SNAPSHOT-M3. Several of my apps either quit working or disappeared. When I clicked on Play Store to try and re-install the apps, I got a message of "No Connection". Searched the problem and several people said to delete the Google Account and re-install it. After deleting it, the phone will not let me recreate it. When I click on Add Account and then the Google symbol, nothing happens.
Is there solution to fix this? if not, can I just re-install 10.2.1 and fix it?
My phone is an AT&T SGS3.
Thanks,
retnuh
Re-flash GApps, that has happened to me before, and this is what fixed it.
As LittlePalmTree stated, sounds like you need to reflash GAPPS. Make sure you grab the one compatible with cm11. cm11 is android 4.4 where as cm10.2 was 4.3 if I am not mistaken.
Thanks for the help. I tried to re-flash the gapps after reading the first reply but before reading the second reply. You guessed it. I did it wrong. The phone would not get past the spinning circle screen. Ended up using CWM to re-flashing the rom stored on my phone and also re-flashing the gapps stored on my phone. So, I'm back to version 10.2.0, but at least my phone is working again. While I would like to update, I'm afraid I will mess my phone up again.
Thank you for both of your replies.
Googled the problem and found a few solutions from the simple - force stop/clear cache - up to full factory resets.
Different things seemed to work for different people.
Tried the force stop/clear cache and check time/date is correct (which causes some people problems.
Then I tried removing my Google account and adding it in again. However, it wouldn't let me do that until I re-flashed GAPPS. Did that and it all works fine now.

The strangest thing just happened...

I checked BetterBatteryStats to see how well my phone is sleeping (something I check every day). But for some reason I couldn't check Kernel Wakelocks. I just an error message saying the file couldn't be read. I tried using RootExplorer and Titanium Backup but both apps complained they couldn't get root. So I tried to load the SuperSU app and it tells me it couldn't find the SU binary? By now I'm thinking WTH? I didn't install any new apps, I didn't flash any ROMS or apps. I have an H811 and there has been no T-Mobile OTA that I know about. Somehow, overnight, I just lost root! Very strange.
Anyway I just manually booted into TWRP recovery and flashed SuperSU to regain root. I'm still mystified about what happened. Has this happened to anyone else?
