Wondering if anyone can help me out here, I've rooted the phone fine with no issues root checker says it's rooted, I 've installed CWM6-recovery-note2.tar.md5 via Odin3 v3.04 which was succesful however now when you try to boot into recovery mode the screen bounces all over like an out of tune TV/re-boots/stays blank and you cant access the re-boot screen etc I can still acess the download page, The phone still works on it's original ROM,
Currently running on 4.1.2,Baseband version N7100XXDLK7/Build JZ054.N7100XXDMB2
Was hoping to install Revolution HD ROM unless someone can recommend a better one?
Forget cwm download goomanager from the market open immediately hit menu and choose install open recovery script .
Let it install then reboot into recovery via Manila method or reboot app from market. .. now you will have the latest twrp recovery which works flawless on most phones over cwm.
It's all touch and slide no need to use volume or power button
If you are rooted this will work
Make a backup after u boot into it of your rom your on and u can set backup name to stock or whatever u are on.

What model is your Note 2? I just looked at goo.im and it doesn't have all the TWRP releases for all Note 2 models.
For example, the T-Mobile (t0ltetmo) TWRP is on TWRP's site but not on goo.im, may be that was why goomanager said "no recoveries were found"?
T-mobile SGH-T889. i dont have any form of recovery. i cant access the regular recovery mode. i dont know how to install another recovery mode or where to find the download.

I would flash back to stock through Odin (tesh post - its stickied).. Older phones allowed you to copy the the recovery.IMG file to the root folder of the phone but I doubt the note works the same... Either way Twrp has been having some upload issues with their recoveries through the goo manager app but if youre unable to access even the stock recovery than I'm thinking a stock flash is in order

I stand corrected although my point is is still valid. There are many types of note 2. Some are compatible and some arent. I was simply stating to make sure he tried flashing the correct one for our device.
I'd pop the battery out and check the model number just to be sure he has a t889 to begin with.

We agree. Details are important. Visual verification of the model is imperative especially since a build prop is so easy to edit.

Check your build prop for device name. Maybe its not correct because of the Rom you're on. Whats the error you're getting?
Did you ever get TWRP on your phone?
I've had goofy issues with TWRP but much prefer it to CWM. Originally rooted using CWM and SuperSu and switched to TWRP when I flashed CleanRom several times via Romtoolbox pro I've flashed updated Twrp it said it was successful but when it rebooted was soft bricked! Had to use Odin and original CWM to get back in and re-install everything (nandroids were twrp backups) found file downloaded to sdcard that worked fine! Odd...

If by "installed" you are referring to the recovery program itself (and not your backups), you can only have one recovery 'installed' at one time as there is only 1 "Recovery" partition on the device (/dev/block/mmcblk0p9). So if you want to install CWM instead of your current TWRP (or visa-versa), either flash the appropriate new recovery zip via your current recovery... or Odin3 flash your desired new recovery tar. Either way, it will write to the same recovery partition. If you are referring to your backups... these are stored in the designated path you selected (either internal sd or external sd)... in the TWRP/BACKUPS folder. In that folder, you will have a device id #... in that folder are your backups.
Gotcha! Thanks the way it acted I wondered if there were "leftovers" in recovery partition or corrupt data. When I reflashed CWM or TWRP via ODIN it didn't say "Passed" instead "RESET" and I had to unplug phone and manually boot recovery which sometimes took a couple tries... Only boxes checked in Odin are reset time and reboot.

Which version of Odin3 are you using? When I used Odin3 v1.85 I would get the "PASSED" but with Odin3 v3.07, I also only got "RESET" (on an WindowsXP box)... but both flashed it correctly (and auto rebooted after flash)

After that, turning off the phone and holding down the Vol Up + Home Key + Power brings up the Galaxy Note N7100 screen, buzzes out and turns itself off.

Try TWRP instead of CWM. You can find it here:

You could try rebooting into recovery using ADB from your pc or a terminal emulator on the phone by typing: su reboot recovery

After installing the app Goo.im I installed the TWRP recovery with it and rebooted the device into recovery.
It showed the same buzzing screen and turned itself off.
There is no noticeable file courruption within the phone and everything is just as same when I start the phone normally again.
Could this be a faulty device? If so, can I actually get a refund / return for it?
I also cannot receive my 3G data from my sim when my Galaxy S2 was able to recieve it.
Does unlocking and changing roms affect the availablility of 3G data?

The 1st thing that I do is root with the "how to Root Note 2 [EASIEST METHOD]"at Youtube. like the topic and than after when the rooting process it will restart into recovery mode part at that part when I saw the note 2 word when restart the word were distorted and the note 2 word run everywhere and than become black screen for about 2-3 minit and than the phone restart on back like normal and my phone were rooted and got super user on it and I tested with titanium backup and can be used. After that I try to install cwm recovery and flash the CWM recovery like the app told me to, after that i try to backup my stock rom and than after restart to recovery mode the note 2 word show like when the rooting process the word distorted. After that i try goo manager to flash twrp and try go recovery mode and still same. I did not try to flash back the stock rom. can you guide me what should I do next about the cf root and flash twrp with Odin, i dint try it because Im noob at rooting note 2.

You can go to twrp site and download twrp for note 2 in tar format so you can flash it with odin just the same way as you flashed cf-root.
Do not use goo manager. For some reason it says that it flashed twrp but it does not flash it.
So in a few words.
DL twrp 2.3.3.2 in tar format.
Open odin and select pda and then select twrp.
Switch off your phone and boot in download mode by pressing volume down+home button+ power botton. When you see samsung logo realease power button. Keep the other two.
Press vol up to confirm
Connect your phone to pc and wait till it recognizes it.
Press start. Wait till finish.
It should be working after this.

It's probably something small that I'm missing, but I can't for the life of me find it.

Device not booting
This may or may not be related... but since I started here I figure I'll continue. After installing CM from CWM menu, I rebooted the device and found that powered off completely. Now when I try to turn on the device I get a grey battery icon with a static circle on it, and it does not proceed any further. I cannot access recovery mode or even get to the Samsung loading screen. Plugging the device into the wall charger doesn't seem to be doing anything as it has been 'charging' for over 30 minutes and still does not power on. Is this at all related to the recovery or some sort of freak incident? Thank you.

Mike

NOTE: On the Android toolkit, the process doesn't work because when it flashes TWRP and it boots to recovery the toolkit says "Recovery mode not detected", and when I check device manager it shows SPH-L710 with a yellow ! mark, I've already installed the Samsung USB drivers, I tried Kies, and even the PDANet drivers, none work for the device when its in recovery mode.
Flash the latest philz recovery via Desktop Odin, it will ask you if you want to root the phone when you reboot it, tell it yes, then update superuser through the play store

Oh my god thank you so much, it worked like a gem! That should be the main root method, not CF-Auto-Root, that was a breeze AND gives you custom recovery!
If you could answer one more question for me that'd be great, I hate sounding so picky, and it's honestly no problem if there's no fix, I just have major OCD, when I boot to recovery and it shows the Cyanogenmod guy, is there anyway I can change/remove that? It bugs me cause I don't have CM or CWM so it seems very out of place.

I don't think you can change it, unless you were compiling a version of it yourself, but you would need to ask the dev for philz about how to go about that.

It's not a Philz thing tho, no matter what custom recovery you have, CWM, Philz, TWRP, it's always got the CM guy, Cid I think his name is? If you could change the boot screen you should be able to change that right?
