I have an AT&T branded/locked Samsung Galaxy S3. I am using Walmart's "Straight Talk" service with the phone. Most things work properly, but having all the custom AT&T software running creates problems as the phone is not authorized to use any of that bundled AT&T software. As a result I usually get annoyed anytime the AT&T Navigator pops up, or have to re-do APN settings when AT&T's software updater daemon finds new AT&T firmware available and upgrades the phone over-writing any current network settings. I am also locked out of several other features that AT&T considers "premium" such as "mobile hot-spot". In the past on other phones I have been able to enable this feature but with the AT&T S-3 it queries the AT&T server to check permissions and naturally denies me.
I would like to remove all AT&T software and branding from the phone. Is there some kind of generic, non-branded firmware with all of the phone's functionality enabled and unrestricted that I may install? If so, where can I find the image as well as instructions on how to do the flash successfully? It will not be my first time flashing an Android phone so I do not need my hand held; I just haven't been able to find clear information on how to perform the function nor where to find the firmware for this phone.
The phone is an SGH-I747.
Thanks in advance!
Brandon
Easiest way:
Root, install TiBu, and freeze away all AT&T apps.
Flash the newest ROM. Its called LL1. It was released in December and it is free of all carrier bloat so it is completely stock touchwiz. I think there is a flashable version of in the android development section. Or if you don't want root you could get the Odin version.

Where can I download this directly as it doesn't seem to be on the forums.
Is this what Google/Samsung would give to the carriers for them to add their bloatware?
...or is this something compiled from source code.

yes it is, but i was referring to the radio that comes with it and the 4.0.4 in the dev thread was the koodo base no? shouldn't this be the tmobile one? they're not all the same. but ehh.... tmobile base usually sucks anyways.
Yes you are right the baseband is new as well and it is UVLH1 the kernel version is 3.0.8 I guess I will give this a try for a week completly stock then back to good old AOKP. I just like trying the stock stuff. I gotta say I was very impresed with the first version of ICS that we got. I didnt even root it or anything till AOKP was official for the t989. I got super good battery life and everything was stable so lets see if this update holds up. Good job samsung.

I found this firmware at sammobile.
Please find it by the link below.

I am not sure if I posted at the right place.
Just tell me if I posted wrong and I will remove it.
Enjoy...
I already got the uvlh1 system folder with the apps, libs, build prop, and etc and also the .tar. I took the radio and made a flashable zip of it its in the dev section. I tryed to upload it on dropbox but it said the file is too large. Which is the best file sharing site so i can upload the large files so i can post it here ? But i guess the devs already has it.

I did look there. However, the issue is that there are 2 Canadian variants this time around.
Rogers, Bell, Virgin Mobile have opted for the AT&T variant. Whereas, Wind & Videotron have opted for the T-Mobile variant.
As such, there is very little information for the SGH-M919V. Hoping someone who sees this thread is able to post more information regarding this phone.
So I have a T-Mobile S3 that I would like to use on AT&T. I've seen a few threads that have said this was possible if I can unlock it. I haven't got the new sim for AT&T yet, but I am wanting to root the device tonight at home so I can unlock it right when I get it with Voodoo sim unlock.
I'm going to flash a rom onto it too, but I have read that it is OK to flash a ROM, but not the baseband/modem. I'm unfamiliar with T-mobile roms, so are there any roms specifically that have a new modem or baseband built into the rom?
Also, is voodoo sim unlock the best way to go? I got this device because someone I know cancelled their plan and really doubt T-mobile will give me a code for free and I don't really want to cough up money to pay to have it unlocked.
I haven't heard of anyone using voodoo.
But here's a tgread that tells you whst to do.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2023709
If you have a T999 model, only use T999 modems. Afaik you can flash att modems but they will not work right if at all. The only att stuff I know for sure you can use are some roms and some kernels. Most are already here in this forum, so I'd probably just use what you find here until you know more about the compatibility.

Oh, and imo, you shouldnt ever see a rom that flashes your modem. Maybe if its done with aroma and you can opt to not flash it, it eould be ok, but I just dont even see a reason for this.

I actually tried that, but I figured since I don't have the sim the option doesn't pop up after waiting 30 seconds...
Thanks for all that great info. So would I just be safe using t-mobile roms with an unlocked phone? I'm not really familiar with using unlocked phones on different carriers.
Yup that should be perfectly safe.
I do know that if your baseband is UVDMD5 you have to downgrade to LJC or below for that unlock to work.
I am not sure if it requires a T-Mobile sim or not.
Check your baseband though, and if its md5, flash another one and try again.

Most of the roms from this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1949687 dwnload as a 7Z file type. To which my phone does not recognize. The only reason I am updating is because I got word that tmo. has updated to LTE here in wichita ks. When I called and asked how come I havent seen anything yet? the only suggestion was to update from 4.1.1 to 4.1.2
Oh.........
If you don't have the new model T999L, you will not, can not get lte.
The .7z files are root66 firmware. (As I answered in that thread yesterday, firmware gets flashed in odin, not from your phone).
If you follow the link for root66, you will see in the instructions you have to extract it first. Pretty sure this is in my thread too.

Why is this in our forums
Sent from my SM-N9005 using Tapatalk
For the people that have not been around for a while or have not been following the TMO Note 3 Dev. There is no TMO N900W8 forum.
The Canadian rom (Miscoms) has been posted here since the beginning. Which it makes sense as this is the T-MOBILE NOTE 3 FORUM.
And before somebody says Canada is not T-Mobile its Rogers, note that Rogers and TMO are Identical in bands and radio. Just one says W8 to identify it as a rogers phone. Both will work perfectly on the others networks. (Trust, we have tested this theory out extensively)
With that said.
Thank you very much for the contribution.
For the poster that asked about the bootloader. All of us that work on these roms have bricked a phone or 2 trying to figure out how to force the bootloader. The N900w8 rom, has been out for a while, BUT, you have to have the NA2 bootloader to be able to flash the rom or it will fail, or brick your phone.

Original Dev roms are reserved for people that put out original dev roms. like. AOSP, CM, IOKP, bla bla bla. Stock Roms put out by the OEM and modified go here, not in the Original development section. Modded Stock roms are not "original" developments
Hopefully that makes sense.

without the proper bootloader, that both 900t and 900w8 phones need. you stand to have problems. As with the N9005 roms, they all suggest having the bootloader before you start flashing the roms to insure you do not brick your phone.
I guess I'll be the adult here and say thanks. Always love new additions to the catalog of ROMs. I'm sure all the Canadian users will be happy. Doesn't matter what forum its in.
