I have Galaxy S3 on which I have CyanogenMod. I was on vacation in Poland last summer and I got there my Rogers Galaxy S3 phone unlocked and polish language CyanogenMod ver 10.0 was installed . It worked fine since. Recently, I installed few game for my grandson. Right after I found that it took longer time to boot a phone. Then I started to get a message after rebooting, "System process didn't start" with option to click "Wait" or "OK". When I clicked OK phone was slowly booting and finally was fully operational. Every new reboot took longer and longer with the same message, "system process didn't start" click "wait" or "ok".
Finally it stopped to boot. When I power on a phone it starts booting and get to same message as before. I click "wait" and nothing happen, or I click "ok" and still nothing happen. Then phone reboots itself and keep doing it.... Doesn't boot anymore to application.
What I can try to do to fix it? I am pretty new to this "rooting" "Odin'...etc so if you have an advice please communicate it as simply ans possible.
Any help appreciated
Thank you
Boot into recovery and flash a newversion or same version of CM 10 or CM10.1 (Either one is good or you could pick a whole new ROM up to you). Make sure you follow the instruction of the ROMs thread for how to install. To get to recovery you hold the volume up + home button + power untill it boots to recovery and from there follow ROM instructions.

Before you install any ROM be sure to do a factory/reset, wipe dalvik cache, wipe cache partition and format system, and don't worry about doing everything twice, especially if you are coming from a TW ROM and going to a CM type ROM. If you don't start off with a clean slate you may have some "ghosts" left over.

How I can do factory reset if I can't boot to anything except a download mode? Do I need to install new ROM first and then do factory reset or there is other way to get to factory reset option without loading new ROM?

If you can't into recovery and download mode is your only option, use odin to flash stock ROM on your phone.

Possible Fix
1. Go here - > http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1968625 -> install the correct stock firmware for your carrier
2. Go here -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1722686 -> download ODIN.. and READ THE INSTRUCTIONS!!!
3. Use ODIN to put the STOCK ROM back onto your phone. It takes a little while to do it.. and first boot can take a while as well.
4. Go here -> http://autoroot.chainfire.eu/#odin -> download the correct version of CF autoroot for your phone
5. Use ODIN to install CF auto root the same way you installed the STOCK ROM
6. Go to the google play store and download ROM manager
7 - In ROM manager Installed CWM recovery
8-> enjoy a rooted phone and flash custom roms if you like!

I think I bricked my Rogers S3.
I had JB running on it. Today I decided to root it again ( I rooted it couple of months ago and then went back to stock). I did the same procedure as last time i.e. using toolkit, however, when I had to choose which file to choose in odin to be flashed in insecure boot, I chose "boot-insecure-spr-l710palen.tar" instead of choosing "boot-insecure-canada-rogers-i747mvale8.tar".
Now after odin finished doing ALLINONE "insecured boot, CWM, root phone + install busybox", my phone restarted and I could hear the samsung logo voice but the screen was totally blank.
I went back to odin and chose ALLINONE "insecured boot, CWM, root phone + install busybox" and this time chose the right file but still the same thing.
So now I decided to unroot the phone by flashing the custom rogers version back on, so I flashed the custom rom using ODIN but still my phone keeps on getting stuck at the samsung logo at the start up. It doesn't go any further.
Is it bricked? How can I solve this problem? Thanks
Note: If i press volume up+home+power, I can get into the mode where it gives me the options to reboot, wipe etc.
Should I try to root it again and try to get into recovery mode to see what can be done to fix it?
Bumped!!!!!!!!!
It's a soft brick, so you're okay.
Just download Odin and flash a restore image on your phone with it.
Search the "development" subforum for "Odin" and you'll find everything you need.

Yup. It worked. I just performed a factory reset along with cache wipe and phone started working again. Thanks guys.
I'm following the post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1739426&nocache=1 (for the second or third time) to flash the stock rooted rom onto my att s3. I've done this before a few times and never had an issue.
I'm following them to the letter tonight and everything goes ok (at least ODIN says its ok...) but the phone won't get past the SAMSUNG logo on the restart. ODIN finishes, I see the green Android guy and a progress bar, then I think it reboots again, I get the samsung/at&t logo with sound, then it just stays on the SAMSUNG screen. I gave it time, up to 20 minutes, to finish anything it was doing.
Any help would be appreciated.
(Why am I doing this? I flashed CM 10.1 and somehow LTE didn't work, so I went to CWM and flashed my backup and I couldn't get any phone/data to work. So thinking something got fouled up I decided to just re-flash from the above post to get what I had, which was working.)

you wont have CWM if you have stocked via Odin, but you will have 3e recovery with same option. Use same 3 button combo to get recovery
Suggestion
I sort of had the same issue except I didn't have any issues with recovery. I flashed 4.1.1 via ODIN and then got stuck at the Samsung logo. ODIN said passed so I did a battery pull and booted into stock recovery (holding volume key up + home button (keeping both held until I was in recovery) and hit the power button) and I had to do a factory reset and wipe cache and then reboot. Could maybe try flashing via ODIN again and giving that a shot if you haven't yet.

Hi, I've managed to use Odin to install the bell with root image, phone now working with I747MVLUEMK5..downloaded clockworkmod recovery manager and used the att recovery image. Downloaded custom Roms, factory reset the phone, wiped cache and dalvik then installed the custom ROM. It installed properly but when I reboot, it won't turn on, I have to do the download mode to recover it back using the Odin. Tried different custom ROM and I made sure they are for this image MVLUEMK5... But same result, it won't boot up... Help...did I miss a step?
Copy a ROM to your SD card, install a custom recovery (I prefer CWM), boot into recovery, wipe cache, Dalvik, data, and system, install the custom ROM, reboot the phone.
Every 4.4.2 ROM I have tried (Valudus, Cyanfox, CM11) will boot with a stock 4.1.2 bootloader or newer so you should be fine.
Do you have any warranty left on your phone? Does your phone have Knox installed?

17.***Vol down and home and it booted to Download mode
18.***Used Odin to load the image frok step 2 above and tried the same steps using different rom (Beanstalk-4.4) and the result is the same
Too much work for me. There is no need to have root before installing a custom ROM.
Do this:
Use Odin to install Philz Touch Recovery from here (use the tar version in PDA, do not check auto reboot): http://goo.im/devs/philz_touch/CWM_Advanced_Edition/d2att
Once it flashes and you see Reset in the windows, pull the battery, disconnect the phone from computer, boot into recovery, wipe cache, dalvik, system, data, flash rom, reboot.
Thanks for the help...I'll try this tonight...when you say pull the battery, you mean literally take the battery out of the phone? Would it boot to recovery when I put the battery back? or will it normally boot then I would reboot to recovery.
Thanks!

One thing I noticed is when flashing the rom it doesnt take long (less than 2 minutes) then it completed withoiut error....could it be the zip file or the SD card where i copied them?

Most of the 4.3 roms take a long time at the first boot once you flash it (when I flashed S3Rx it took 3 minutes 32 seconds, I timed it because most people say I waited a long time but have no recollection of how much time) it will stay at one of the boot image screens for several minutes then it should vibrate once the blue led should illuminate and then it will finish booting.
If the wait is too much for you turn it on, set it down, walk away, find something to do, 10 minutes later come back, if it hasn't booted now make sure you followed all the instructions correctly and flashed the right stuff for the phone model you have.

Just curious... are you going into mounts and storage to format system along with the factory reset and dalvik / cache wipes ??
I'm having a very hard time figuring which PAC-man ROM to download for my s3. I've got the thing rooted via towel root and have the free version of ROM manager, but don't know where to go from there. The model number is SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 if it matters.
There are hundreds of threads and post regarding loading roms... ill give you a quick run-down though....
First you need to find & flash a aftermarket recovery program.......(flash via odin) Team Win Recovery (TWRP) or Clockword Mod Recovery(CWMR) I personally like TWRP alot more, and there are a couple other ones, but those are probably the most common.
Once you do that, try booting into recovery mode.... ( turn phone off, then press volume up, power, and menu all at the same time, hold until you see the samsung logo and in top left you will see recovery booting, wait till this screen has past, then let go)
Once done, MAKE A BACK UP!!! Very important step and save it to where you will remember, i personally like to store it on my external SD card.
Load phone back up, download rom and recomended Gapps (google apps) onto computer, connect phone, and transfer onto the phone. (again i prefer to put on my external SD card)
Here is the pac-rom you want. ----> https://s.basketbuild.com/devs/pacman/d2lte/release - choose the .zip not the .zip.md5sum
you will have to look up what Gapps they recomend for their rom... i personally like PA Gapps.
Once loaded, turn phone off, boot to recovery, factory reset, wipe data/clear cache/dalvik cache. Install rom and specified gapps from location you saved on your phone.
I suggest your do a bit more research before you attempt so you are 100% sure you know what you are doing.... i did give a pretty thorough guideline but always double check!!!
Also, i have not tried using pacrom, so i dont know what its like, but i have tried around 4-5 roms and so far my favorite is dirty unicorns, here is the link for the newest stable rom. I am using PAGAPPS stock package with this rom.

I forgot to add, when I did find my device in that search bar and clicked on "direct download", I was taken here,( cant type URL, but it should say "/devs/s0updev/gooinsideme/") but there was nothing there so I clicked on "s0updev", but I'm not sure of where to go.
When I clicked on "Market Link", I got a message saying no app found.
Before flashing anything, you should determine which bootloader and modem version is on your phone.
If you run into problems installing the ROM, you need to know the bootloader and modem version on your phone when trying to get back to a stock or working ROM.

How do I do that? Also, I'm going to purchase a sim card with a prepaid service for my phone. If I get it activated first, can I still add a custom rom later and not lose anything?
Sorry for asking so many questions, I just wanna be careful.
Is your phone sim unlocked? If not, I recommend unllocking it before installing a custom ROM.
To find out about your bootloader and modem, install the Samsung Phone Info app from the play store. Run it and it will tell you what you need to know.

The place where I bought it from claimed it was completely unlocked. I have no idea of how to check for myself other than a couple of shady payware apps on the playstore.
You can test it by trying a couple of sim cards in the phone. The sim cards do not need to be active and they should from two completely different carrier, rather than a carrier and its sub brand.

OK, I've downloaded the Samsung edition of Phone INFO and found my Bootloader info, but have no idea of where the modem info is. Also, I went back to the store I bought the phone and had them test with an T-Mobile card, and confirmed the phone was unlocked.
Okay, after getting ClockworkMod Recovery successfully flashed, I think I'm finally close to getting this thing going after coming across two tutorials from teamandroid. ("How to Install Android 4.4.2 KitKat on AT&T Galaxy S3 SGH-I747 with PAC-man Custom Firmware" being one of them) I've run into another problem though-

The download link provided for the ROM is dead. I'm not sure of where to get the latest rom and the matching Google Apps download. If I can get these, I should finally get this thing installed.
There are great ROMs here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3-att/development
In order to flash a custom ROM, boot into recovery, format system, Dalvik, data, and cache. Install ROM, install Gapps, done

I'm going to install
[ROM][OFFICIAL][KitKat 4.4.4][d2lte] PAC-man 4.4.4.RC-1
Where can I find Gapps?
Gapps link here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2015607
During the ROM install, I got an error and it aborted the installation-
What was the error? The phone needs to be running the latest Philz, CWM, or TWRP.

I found "Samsung Galaxy S3 (AT&T)- 6.0.4.7" Do I need to go back into download mode and flash this with Odin? Do I run the risk of bricking when powering off my phone since I already went trough these steps-
“wipe data/factory reset”
“wipe cache partition”
“wipe dalvik cache”
