Play Google Music On 3rd Party Players - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

Not too sure if this is already been posted but I know it's a function/feature we've all been dying to use: the ability to stream Google Music to a 3rd party app besides the the stock one.
I've been using it for about a day now on the PlayerPro music player & it works pretty darn great.
Anyhow, enough talk & on to the show: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2169761

About a week into it or so. It does have its quirks where the system file that hosts the script becomes unmounted but a simple sync & remount solves the problem.
I've also noticed that if you add music to your Google Play library the GMusicFS app will not auto sync your music, you have to do it manually in order to get the music to be recognized in whatever 3rd party player you're using.
I've also used various music players such as Winamp & JetAudio & both work great as well.
An added bonus is no more tiny widget via Google Play Music, you get to use the larger widget that comes with those alternate players plus the ability to view lyrics & tweak the sound that these players have built in; something the Google Play Music app lacks.

what is the best music app?

i have been really torn of late as to wether or not to keep my desire over my samsung omnia 7. The killer feature on the omnia is the zune music player and the ability to have an acount and download whatever albums i like etc.
Is there such an app or service that is similar to zune that will give me the same functions. I.e to be able to download whatever music and albums i want to the phone for a set monthly payment.
I know its possible to link my phone to i-tunes etc but then i would have to pay for every album i buy.
suggestions please.
Ps i have downloaded poweramp as my music player and am really happy with that. Just need the means to download my songs to the phone now.
I have also tried to use my zune account with all my music on it and transfer the songs to my desire but due to drm it dosent work. Anyone have a work around for this? If so this could solve the problem as i would stick with my zune account.
thanks
Power Amp. BY FAR!

yeah i have that and agree its a great music player
i need however suggestions as to a good music service that allows me to download albums etc to my phone and whereby i pay like a monty subscription.
Just skip the monthly fee and use tunee music or music junk.

I use spotify. It's great!!
by far, power amp is the best mainly coz it has great equalizer setup, but if sync matters more, then double twist is a good option two.
me, i use power amd in tandem with the double twist desktop software. no air sync, but still works great.

mort player, hands down. not only does it have a good user interface but is heavily customizable and doesn't rely on android to create a file list. for me it was being able to do an A - Z folder list to sort my music bypassing sorting like "genre" and "year".
Best Combo for free music: Transdroid linked to uTorrent. Download the music to a specific media folder on your computer from your phone. Then have Subsonic set up on your PC as well as your phone as a music server. That's what works for me.
http://www.appbrain.com/app/*tunewiki-social-media-player*/com.tunewiki.lyricplayer.android
use tune wiki.
as for your songs on zune just find the path where its downloaded. btw if you want to access your zune libray via my computer, use "Show hidden folders" option.
If you already have a great music collection subsonic is hands down a must have on any android device. I can get any of my 63 gigs of music anywhere in the world. You can either stream it or download songs/albums to your phone. As far as music player I just use stock cm6 (music mod) with dsp settings handling the equalizer. Gets the jib done for me. Doubletwist now has wifi sync as well as winamp. Just play with a bunch of them and decide which works for you

Poweramp is definitely NOT the best.
PlayerPro is much much much better

In my opinion, Winamp is teh best. But @ best this is subjective.
Give Winamp, Poweramp, Mort, 3^2 (Cubed) player a try.
These are the "big" music players that I know of.
gingerbread apparently has a pretty sweet music function that allows you to sync with your home pc's music library. Sounds pretty sweet but there's a ton of free music apps out there on the market (most likely legal issues involved) but I just google an mp3 when I want one.
Anyone remember imusic tao before it disappeared? That thing was killer. Sadly I paid for it and it was removed about a month later.
If what your looking for is a subscription music service that you can download to the phone is would try rhapsody. I think it's like 9.99 a month and you can dl any track they have or stream as well. I've had the service for years and I love it.

Didn't it just get renamed to "GTunes Music"? That's the app I use currently and it looks exactly like imusic used to.

I use winamp as well. I have an iTouch for my music though, I just keep what I use for ringtones on my phone. Happy hunting.
Of the market.. its between Winamp or power amp.. I like power amp better because of the equalizer.. but now that I'm running sense on my g2.. I like the stock music player.. so I uninstalled the both I mentioned and I'm using the HTC desire z stock music player really nice...

Google Music widget & album art

Google music is by far my preferred app to stream my music, but as much as I like it I hate the fact that the widget does not display the album art. I tried Pure Music Widget in hopes to circumvent the problem but all it displays is a picture of a blank cd.
Are there any hacks or alternatives that could fix this? And by alternatives I mean not an entirely new based cloud service but something that ties into Google Music.
Offline Music Importer in the play store (not free despite listed as free) will allow you to use google music tunes in other apps, not very intuitive though. I think I read the paid version of double twist can see offline google music also.

True however for me what's the point of having streaming music if I have to download to my phone. I was looking for something that can stream from my Google account and display the album art in the widget
Sent from my SPH-D710 using XDA
The widget doesnt show album art because Google didnt design it that way. Plain & simple.
Yes I know that which is why I was asking if there was a hack or an alternative app that ties into Google Music to achieve that function.

I underestimated the stock Music Player...

Seriously, it sounds awesome with Perseus audio tweaks and a little bit of tweaking within the player itself. I'm not a big fan of the UI, but it honestly just works.
The only reason I'm switching over is because PlayerPro's EQ and DSP pack were giving me issues. The "bass" knob was going...backwards.
PowerAmp is hideous IMO, but sounds good. Neutron isn't really user friendly, but it sounds epic.
Walkman is nice, but Ac!d audio along with it gave me FC's in Sound Enhancement. (Anyone know how to fix this?)
Anyway,
Perseus headphone amplification up to 63, a u-shaped EQ with +2 and -2 being the limits, negative gain on 1, stereo expansion on 6.
Mild bass/clarity adjustments in the music player, +1 on 3D, +1 on room size.
What can I say, I'm happy. My ATH-M50's suddenly have a new life.
I may flash Ac!d universal again and see how it sounds. I do feel like I can get a bit more sub-bass out of these cans.
Thoughts?
I love the stock music player. The only reason why I'm using poweramp (I like its asthetics fyi but let's ignore that for this discussion) is because of the ability to choose the folders that I want. With the stock music player, it pulls music from my dropbox and also voice recordings. With poweramp, I can prevent that which is better for me. I would use the stock music player otherwise. It also helps when I won a license key from poweramp a while back.

Since you guys seem to love it, and more to the point, use the stock player, I have a simple question.
When you open the player, say from the widget, how do you get back to a menu where you can open/switch-to a new playlist.
So far I only found that possibility when I open the app using the standard icon.
That annoyance has driven me to use apollo pro (a beefed up version of the player on CM9+ firmwares).
I have one major problem with the stock player (though it's really the os default behavior). I have a lot of music on my 64gb sd card (50gb?) and when I open the stock player it freezes while it rescans it all (about a min) - same on closing the player - very annoying. It does it every time so I use Player Pro which opens instantly for music and just use the stock player for podcasts. The other plus for me is Player Pro shows the album art on the lockscreen. I have no issues with the audio quality of either, though I also like and use the controls in Perseus stweaks.

I have 38gb of 320kbps MP3's, no freezing issues here in any player at all!
Yeah combo of stock music and google play has replaced poweramp. Like the way google play creates playlist and stock player music squares.
Poweramp is in need of a major update. Been using it for years and its getting dated.

This. The stock music player will happily play every media file on the damn phone, not just my music.
I haven't used a SINGLE stock music player in Android ever due to this issue.
I'm a playlist user. I use iSyncr for mac to get all my music on there, it all shows up fine.
I can agree about folders though. I have used them from time to time, PowerAmp did that job pretty well.
Cant u choose wich folder to play on stock player too? I like the stock player as well.

I still haven't found a third party music app better than PlayerPro. Stock music player is actually quite good (probably the best stock player I've used) but I can't customize it in the same way I can with PlayerPro. And when you combine PlayerPro with the "Equalizer" app (paid version), it's a wrap!
No one likes winamp? I've been using it on pc since I was a kid and the app seems good. Shoutcast radio is also a plus.

Ahh! That's why it was choking and scanning forever - I have no playlists and the music player interface always opened where I left it - on the Songs page/tab. If I leave the interface showing the Playlist tab, it opens without a lag! Now to add a playlist...
Ugh. Using the app to add the playlist is problematic, no impossible. I can choose individual songs to add to the playlist, but as soon as I choose "Select All" it freezes (and never completes the task). Then I tried to make the playlist with various apps but I couldn't get any to make a playlist of all songs given my directory structure (All Music > Genre > Artist > CD). Hmm... What should I call it - suboptimal? ...I finally did make a playlist with my PC version of Winamp (mounting the phone with SGS3 Easy UMS), but I'll probably keep using the Player Pro.
Thank you for that comment though as it explained my problem and gave a workaround (make a playlist with an external app), but I think I have to stick with the opinion that the stock player is poorly made... Though perhaps it would be more correct to say that the Android media scanning default behavior is just crazy bad and needs to be changed - then all the stock music apps would probably work fine. The Gallery app by the way suffers from similar problems for the same reason...
How do you get it to pull from dropbox?

I use Winamp Pro. Has an equalizer and plays FLAC. I also bought the Album Washer and Lyrics addons. Can't go wrong with that.

.nomedia files cause the system to ignore ringtones, and then you can't use them as ringtones.

When you open the player, say from the widget, how do you get back to a menu where you can open/switch-to a new playlist. I was confused by this too. If you use the widget, open the app with the lower right icon. Using the back button, you can move between main screen, playlist screen and song screen.

[Q]Google Music App Alternatives?

Since the Google music app doesn't really work on stock LG roms, does anyone know of any alternatives that let me access my music as well as Google Music all access?
I've been googling around and haven't had much luck but I thought o would ask here as well..
Sent from my LG-LS970 using xda app-developers app
It's a one-time paid app but GMusicFS works well for me. Link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bubblesoft.android.gmusicfs
You use it in conjunction with Google music, and you can play tracks from it in other audio players. The Dev is on XDA. The link's for the free trial.
All Access works. I've played stuff in Poweramp before. Most others work, as well. The app also has pinning functionality, by album. Overall a good alternative to the official app, and works well for mixing local and streaming playback. You can append whatever you want to mark the Google music tracks, so you know which will need a data connection or not (eg. FLAC files of your favorite music and streaming the more occasional tracks).
You do have to synchronize when your music library updates, and you can't add to the library or search the entire Google music database.
It's not bad, though, if you like All access as much as I do.

Music player recommendations/help

I am using a N 5X and the 7.1.1 developer preview and want to use one app for playing music on my device.
I have been using Play Music but find it a bit awkward to see what is on my device and what is on their cloud service. To get around this I have started to use Poweramp to play music stored on my phone and it is great but my phone does not recognise it as a music player app. So if I click on an mp3 file I get the option of Play Music or VLC to open it but not Poweramp. I have cleared all defaults etc but Poweramp isn't ever given as on option.
Likewise Poweramp isn't given as an option to associate with music on the android auto app.
Other than Play Music are there any good alternatives that are recognised as apps to set as a default for music files? Or am I (and Google search) missing something I can change in the settings to enable Poweramp as an option?

I always use BlackPlayer EX. For me it's the best music player on android.
Great design, great customization, tag editing, everything.
The free version is 100% usable so you can try.
Shuttle Music Player is pretty sweet. It's been my favorite for a while now.
I use sony walkman is really nice looking
Just use Default App Manager Lite to set poweramp as the default (it should work with nougat but i haven't tried it)
Asus Music Player simple beautiful in theme and apps section in nexus 5x section

I have tried that, the app says it is default but when I tap on an mp3 file I still only get either play music or vlc

One issue I have come across is that neither app is able to be prompted to play without manual intervention. So I have a task set within Trigger to open the music app when I connect to the car via Bluetooth, which it does, but when I press the media button in the car the track info comes up but doesn't actually start playing. Play Music does this and I am wandering if there is something I am missing?
