How is this possible? I've tried to read through a few tutorials for it, but they were mainly geared towards MetroPCS and I didn't fully understand it. Can anyone help me out?
not going to happen.
Boost = iDen network
They have a CDMA network through Sprint as well.
Anyone? I know it's possible since others are doing it, I just don't know how.
I've seen it done before, seriously no one is going to tell you how to do it, you'll have to search yourself, I've tried to do EVO on Verizon, it's been done, there is nobody who will give me a step by step because it's how you do you say not traditional to do this. Sorry man I am no help. just google it. you'll find better results.

I've been searching for a few hours, I cannot figure out how to do it.
Someone else was just asking about this. I posted a link to a guide there. That might get you started.

Thanks for the advice, but I'm not sure if that would work. That tutorial is several months old, and no one ever tried it for the Evo or as far as I can tell any Android phone.
Honestly, there is no easy way to do it. That link I gave you is by far the easiest way to do it, but like you said, no one has confirmed that it works on the EVO. The method is not OS specific however, so it shouldn't matter that you are using Android.
Since you are trying to get your EVO on Boost, I assume you already have a boost account, so why not try it? If you don't already have an account then you should probably give up because the cost and expertise required to do this might not be worth it to you.
If you are not afraid of highly technical and highly illegal work, then I suggest you start researching how to clone the esn of the boost phone you already own.
I do not own a boost phone yet, I'm interested in this because of the cheap pay as you go plans. .30c per day for unlimited data is pretty nice, in my opinion. As towards the cloning the MEID, IF I were to do this, would everything work correctly such as gps, web, voice, etc?
Everything should work correctly, except for some sprint apps, but I haven't tried it so I can't say for sure. From what I've read it won't work on pay as you go, you have to buy the $50/month unlimited plan.
Sprint ETF + Cheapest unlimited Boost phone = $200+80= $280
You would save $20/month with boost, so after 2 years the total savings versus keeping your Sprint account would be only about $200 max. Not worth the hassel in my opinion, but maybe having no contract is worth it to you.
Ah, that sucks. If I could get it on the pay as you go it would definitely be worth it.
Open the original phone in QPST (Service Programming)
Open the cloned phone in QPST (Serivce Programming)
Go tab by tab and try to match everything us as much as possible
if the cloned phone has a feature enable in Service Programming I've learned best to just ignore it and only clone everything from the original phone
Okay after that... what to do.. You need to get your HAA and AA keys copied over, I have the steps to do that as well in QXDM but the htc Hero doesnt seem to work with these steps or the vx9100 that I have... so the only way I can get it to work it to put a different phone on your network, then turn off the original phone and turn on the clone and then transfer the clone back on to your network, when you change the phone back and *228 it, it will write the Secret keys needed to get data,
and last but not least you need to get a prl that is made for your network. I have the latest prepaid prl for verizon.
If anyone can tell me how to fix my PRI that would be great!
Hi, i have seen evo work flawlessly on other networks and many guys on ebay and craiglist have been selling them. I have a few questions, i would appreciate if you guys can answer them as honestly as possible, coz i m considering getting one, but at the same time i dont want to land up in trouble. I will happily pay 20 bucks more a month than do something which is legally not accepted.
1. I hv seen phones which have their MEID registered in d databases of the other networks. Now my question is , is there anything wrong or illegal if people get the meid of evo registered onto the network by social engineering ?
2. Can you trust the craiglist/ebay guys, coz even if they get your meid registered, they will know your phone no and your meid, what if they mess with it later ? Can they misues the meid/no and if they do, who will be held responsible ?
3. What happens if later the network figures out by some means that the registered meid is not of their supported phones ? What action can they take ?
4. What challeges will i face if i need to transfer my number to a different handset or if i wish to port my number ? Will they block my number if they find that the meid is of an unsupported phone ?
5. Lastly, if i need to sell my phone, what do i do ? How do i get my number out of the phone and what all things need to be done.(sorry for my limited knowledge, i have very limited experience with cdma)
PS : I m only talking about where the phones meid is registered and not where the phone has been programed/cl*ned etc.
All help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Simple answer to all questions. This would require MEID cloning which is illegal.
^^ As i mentioned, these are not cloned ones. They have the og meid of d evo registered onto the database by some means. No techie work has been done on the phone, the meid that is printed on the box, d same meid is shown under the settings.

It's only illegal if you are cloning a phone that you do not own. It's like downloading an ISO. If you already own the cd you can download it as much as you want.

This is still pretty shady.
Out of curiosity, what is the advantage of doing this? At least in the United States there are really only 2 big players that support CDMA networks -- Verizon and Sprint. Personally I think Sprint has some of the most reasonable pricing for their unlimited plans. I suppose you could use it on Cricket's network as well but why would you want to do that other than price?
I think the $69.99 price/month (I guess it's actually $79.99 after you tack on the $10 for 4G) is really fair. I previously had a 25% discount through my employer which made the final bill each month $70. I have since dropped my own line and switched to my parents' family plan. Now I only pay $30/month.

True. I would like to know one thing, if i get the phone from ebay/craiglist and later that guy clones a different phone(which he owns) with the meid and no which is on my evo(since he would knw everything abt my phone) and if caught, who will be the one who will land up in trouble ??

Price ! Boost - $50 unlimited. I am happy with gsm, i m just considering it at the moment, but i first need definite answers to all my questions before i take a step forward.
I don't think Boost uses GSM. I believe it's iDEN networks. But the Evo is a CDMA phone so I don't see how you could use it on a GSM or iDEN network. Maybe folks outside the US don't have this problem but certainly in the States I think you're tied to a CDMA network so your only options are Sprint, Verizon, or Cricket.

No no, i m sorry i didnt explain it well. Boost uses cdma. What i meant to say was, i m currently happy using gsm, i was considering switching to cdma, only if i get proper answers to questions i listed
That makes more sense. Boost must have migrated because I swear they used iDEN. Still -- I like my family plan option (which I realize may not be an option for you). Yes it has 1500 minutes/month but you only use minutes if you call a land line -- mobile to mobile calls are free. Can't beat $30/month for an Evo.
Whatever you choose, good luck.
They use both now but, I think they are migrating to an all cdma network since sprint is really doing away with the nextel network. They started using cdma in early 2010. But if you can get it on the network it will work. I would personally do it myself *google*.... and stay away from the shady people and make sure it is done right.
I bought an S2 on craigslist (probably sounds familiar) for $100 only to find out that it was too good to be true. The phone wasn't stolen (I later confirmed this with sprint), but the jackass didn't pay his bill. Anyways, I'm somewhat familiar with rooting (rooted my E3D), so I was curious what steps I would have to take in order to get this bad boy working (sorry someone else was irresponsible sprint, but I'm not). I have a couple of junk sprint phones laying around the house, so I'm ready to experiment. Also, does anyone think it would be possible to flash it over to US Cellular? Any advice would be appreciated!
Flash it to Cricket or Metro, it's not getting activated on Sprint until the bill is paid.
I think Boost mobile is another option too.
There are posts here and there about porting the E4GT over to third party carriers, some are very detailed. Search for 'E4GT Boost Mobile' or whatever carrier and see what comes up.

Or you could resell to one of the developers here so they can test software without having to fry their own phone.

I doubt it. I didn't have to search hard to NOT find a single thing linked to this phone and US Cell so bets are that they are not a CDMA carrier.

I found this on multiple sources; US Cellular (3G - CDMA2000 800/1900 MHz)
I'm thinking it would be possible since they're on the same frequencies, but I'm a noob when it comes to flashing.

Got me there then. But, there still isn't any information concerning porting a Sprint E4GT over to US Cellular that I can find. Unless you can find a howto guide out there somewhere, it's going to be next to impossible to do. Maybe somebody will chip in here and let you know.

The lack (ok, extinction of) results on google is what prompted me to post on here. Glad it's got some attention, hopefully someone has a solution for me...
Please tread very lightly when talking about flashing cdma to another carrier. I know it can be done and is done everyday but talk about esn spoofing and such is illegal and can not be discussed on xda.
I know someone has a blog relating to the matter.. but linking or discussing the matter is forbidden on xda..

I recommend boost i have mine on it n im down to 35 a month unlimited everything n u will be on the sprint network
hello all..
i searched as much as i could around the forums and google before positing this question.
i want to change providers. from verizon to whatever possible (tmobile or straight talk even) because verizon says i owe them $700. i havent had verizon service since then (6+ months) because i refuse to pay that. I am just using hotspots and im VERY tired of trying to find a mcdonalds or free wifi.
so im wondering if i can switch providers with a CDMA? Everywhere i looked (google) it says its not possible with CDMA only GSM.
Please help me! I apologize if i didnt find the original post similar to mine...
thanks
You're correct. You can NOT use your CDMA Nexus other than Verizon. In other words, you have to find new phone in order to use on different carrier.
Your phone will only work on verizons network. You will need a new phone one way or another.

hey guys... thanks for your help i appreciate it.
since i cant use this phone (verizon wants $1100) is there a good trustworthy place online to sell this phone?
BuyMyTronics(DOTCOM) says they would give me a little over 100 for this phone. im desperate but not desperate enough to put my personal name and address in their form without the website being https:// or ssl...
are there any LEGIT companies out there that i can trust?
haha, good luck with that. Past due bill with verizon means your phone is blacklisted. Basically you'll be selling a pretty much useless (Bad ESN/IMEI) phone that nobody else can use either.

you now have a bad esn phone, so it will be tough to sell.
also, your credit will take a hit and you will go to collections... but thats a story for another day.
Hi all:
first post here
I just got a Sprint S3 with cracked screen and bad esn for $95 and the screen still works
I had to spend $25 on gas to get it so i guess total = $120 but still not bad
Anyhow i see lots of tuts and videos on how to go from Sprint to Cricket but almost all of them say to use your cricket phone number.
I dont have cricket in my area but where my sister lives she does which is a couple states away from me.
Anyhow i not sure if im gonna make a deal with her or not but that is what originally got me looking in this direction as i usually use skype over wifi but mainly i switch to GV over wifi and it works really good with groove ip
ANYHOW
how do i go about following those tutorials on changing phone from sprint to cricket when i dont actually have any of that data to put in since i dont have a cricket phone with cricket service so if the next person that actually got the phone with cricket service could have it programmed for their area and have it work correctly?
thanks
What's the value if it has a cracked screen? FYI the screen on the s3 is about 300 to replace and you can get a new one on craigslist for that. Anyways see WWW.cricket users.com for instructions on flashing they have all the tutorials you need.
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda app-developers app
No if its only the screen and not the digitizer it can be replaced for $30 in 15 mins by the right person.

did anyone actually even read my the original post that started this thread (that replied in this thread)
people answered how to or not to fix my screen more then anything else
i have read and followed the tutorials on how to flash from sprint to cricket
that is not my Q
how do you do it when you dont have cricket service (cricket phone number)?
what would i enter as my cricket phone number (if i was going to send it to my sister in kansas) so it would be almost all ready for her to start using it without her telling me any of her info?
thanks
just want it to be ready to use like a normal person with cricket service who had bought this phone off ebay and wants to activate with cricket.
im not saying i want to sell it yet as i just got it but im sure some day within next 6months i might or i might make a deal with my sister so if anyone buys the phone and wants to activate with cricket i would like it to be painless as possible
see if i had cricket service i am sure i could cdma tool and enter everything i need to get it working but if it goes to someone new i am sure they will just want to activate like normal and without entering a (cricket) phone number in those tutorials with cdma tool would it make it hard for the next person to activate it on cricket?
would they be able to do it over the phone with cricket or could they take that newly flashed phone in to cricket and they would be able to get it done?
hope someone understands what im saying
if it was for me (and i currently had cricket) im sure that would be easy because i know the web and these tools
what happens when a person gets these phones and dont know any of that stuff?
is it treated just like a regular cricket phone when you take it in their shop?
