Method to obtain S-OFF? - HTC One X

According to this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1632200 by 7pellc he was able to get his device into an unlocked state.
While flashing a RUU the process crashed at "WRITING USER DATA".
He then rebooted the phone and found the rom to be unusable, so he rebooted to HBOOT only to find it being stuck in RUU mode.
HBOOT still reported device to be LOCKED, and for some reason he rebooted to recovery, and then back into HBOOT finding the device in an unlocked state.
Instead of LOCKED/RELOCKED/UNLOCKED HBOOT reported only ******
He then fastboot flashed a boot.img which it accepted even though this device was never unlocked through HTCDev.
It seems to me that the exact procedure temporarily left the device in some form of unlocked state, and maybe the eMMC was actually unlocked.
If this was the case it should have been possible to perform fastboot commands to acheive SuperCID or even S-OFF:
fastboot oem writesecureflag 0
fastboot oem writecid 11111111
I am not sure anyone ever recreated his steps, and the important step is to reach the state where HBOOT reports only ****** instead of LOCKED states.
I would love to try this out myself, but I sold my HOX when SGS3 came out as it was a true unlocked device.
Some of my friends still has this phone, and they come to me when something is wrong with it, and if I can persuade them to try this on their phones I would like to try it ofcourse.
I am really sorry if anyone actually recreated the exact steps, but I have read all the threads about S-OFF, and couldn't find someone who performed the opreation, but if I'm mistaken I'm sorry, and this thread can be closed.

But he's speaking the truth.. S-OFF isn't possible, and if you did some research you would know that Please refrain from asking questions before doing your research.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JmvCpR45LKA

Actually if the emmc was unlocked as the op describes then it would be possible but I'm very sceptical that it actually was.
During the ruu sequence the emmc is indeed unlocked however upon rebooting it gets locked again
This is the same principal that the soff for xl uses however they strictly say you mustn't power off your device because it relocks the security.
I have spent some time looking at this exploit.
It is technically possible to have the emmc unlocked and accept fastboot commands by flashing an updated firmware. (Note it has to be an update and not the same as you already have)
Once first flash of the firmware you get an error and then have to flash again straight away but if you don't flash again you can run other commands with the emmc unlocked.
This is where this method hits a dead end.
In order to progress further we need to be in android which would normally be done with
Fastboot boot boot.IMG or fastboot oem boot however since early hboot versions. I think 1.12. this ability was removed and the command just either errors or crashes the device

Oh wel, oh well...
I know that the S-OFF progress by xmoo and others has stopped/is on-hold, but saying that S-OFF is impossible is a bad attitude to solving a problem.
I did my research and did not find someone who tested out this method. So, really if you have nothing to contribute with, then please go find someone else to annoy!

Actually I came up with this idea after reading the threads about the new S-OFF method for XL.
I don't think the eMMC is actually unlocked in the RUU process, the key to achieveing this lies in the sequence of boot back and fourth from RUU mode to the stock recovery and then back to HBOOT.
If the theory is worth anything something happens in the process making HBOOT not recognize the secureflag thus reporting only *****
Ofcourse this is all theory, but who knows
As mentioned in my first post, I cannot test this out myself, and I would never have brought this up if I was able to test it and found it not to be working!

Just telling the truth ..... Sorry for letting you know a fact at the moment.
And you could be a bit nicer you know. I was not rude, bad mouthed or aggressive towards you in any way.....so i expect it the same the other way around !

stuck on Htc logo with four triangles

Hello everybody,
I'm stuck with this condition, wherever i start up my Htc Desire it shows the htc logo and four triangles on the sides. And on every combination vol- vol+ backkey + powerbutton i get the same screen.
Lost the original SD card (not sure if this matters).
I got this screen when i unplug from pc:
AlphaRev CM7 r2
BRAVO PVT3 SHIP S-OFF
HBOOT-6.93.1002
MICROP-051d
TOUCH PANEL-SYNT0101
RADIO-5.17.05.23

RUU
I've been told to downgrade the Hboot (from the alpharev.nl) in order to Ruu the stock ROM downloaded from the HtcDEV, with no luck.
Since I've got the CyanogenMod hboot, is there any method i can flash CM on the phone. Having CM7 would be perfect!!
Check this thread particularly the RUU Problems section. Good luck.

I do feel your pain...I'd be pretty gutted too, if this happened to me.
As for fixes, this is the fourth thread you've started on various forums (that I could find) and I can tell you, the answers are going to be the same. What I would suggest, if you have exhausted every possibility and followed every guide to the letter...just go buy a new phone. There are heaps of them on eBay and electronics stores all over the world are flogging them off at ridiculously low prices. Imo, you're really better off starting from scratch.
Just flash the downgrade.img and run the ruu. It's the only fix. If you can't flash the downgrade img, go back to the troubleshooting thread and tell them there exactly what happened. Simply saying "with no luck" doesn't help anyone diagnose.
Creating a thread on this topic is annoying enough. Openly admitting to recreating it is disrespectful. As with every thread of this nature, I will request it be locked. Please use the troubleshooting guide thread

More than likely an environment (pc) than phone issue. Scrap those apps, we're better off using command line. Have a read of the adb and fastboot faq via my signature. Skip adb as not relevant.

Correct.. was a driver issue apparently. What i had to do was only install every driver i could find for htc desire, adb, jdk.. all.. and then even with 6.93.1002 hboot i could RUU the 2.3 gingerbread stock from htcdev.com. Now its up and running.. infact im writing this mesage from the desire XD
THANKYOU ALL FOR YOUR PATIENCE AND UNDERSTAND!
Great news!!
I want to point out, and after you've been here a while you'll understand, there are a lot of people (noobs) that will ask the same old questions over and over again, "Which ROM is best?", "My phone is broken, how do I fix?" etc, and it get's really, really annoying. This is why people were a little rude with you and why your first thread was closed. In the end, all it took was some time, research and a bit of thought and you got there. And I'll tell you what, you really got thrown in the deep end with the phone you were given...from here on in, anything else should be a walk in the park!
Please don't take anything said personally, it's just a matter of frustration at seeing the same old again.
I have no doubt you'll be ripping into noobs one day too, lol.
Now go enjoy your phone!!

[Q] Can we get SuperCID with this?

Hey Guys!
I noticed an article on a android news site
It stated that the HTC Droid Incredible 4G got bootloader unlocked.
They used a method to get SUPERCID
Which means that the devices CID gets overwritten by all 1's.
This basically tricks the HTCDev website into unlocking it..
Which is great but not very usefull for us here..
But!
I want to know, can this method be used to overwrite CIDs in phones which cannot update to the latest JB RUU?
If this is possible everyone could use the JB RUU and ofcourse this will help developers..
As I already stated: I am not sure, and I do not advise anyone to try this unles syou know what you are doing.
Thr original thread is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1986346

I'm sorry, misused a term here..
Its not a superCID but a fakeCID method they use..
But I must say, they do not have S-OFF and still can change the CID of the device..
So excuse me for asking but, if they can change the CID with only temproot,
Than we should also be able to do that..
And trick the JB RUU in thinking every device can use it..
So can someone explain me why this is not possible?
btw, I have a HTC__001 CID, so... Do'nt need it, but others may!

I want to try it on the One X, But I really need to know which partition I need to edit..

Nvidia is actually messing it all up!
The rest are all qualcom bootloaders.. but this is different because of the tegra 3!
Thats why it does work on the ATT XL, the One S and other qualcomm phones..

[Q] Lil' Help pleese

First off I have already gone through the 70+ pages of the related thread BEFORE thinking of posting, just so everyone knows I am not being lazy. I still am having trouble rooting my HTC One X. I followed all the steps in the one click method. I do not have HTC Sync installed, and so no need to disable. I have updated my drivers with the link provided. I try and end the adb process, but it shows up twice for every time I cancel it lol.
Everything goes fine until the script starts, and it fails to install anything, everything it tries it says fail (I am including a capture so you know what I am talking about. After the phone resets, even though nothing installs, my phone runs script up the right side of the screen, taking up the right half of my phone. Any help is appreciated. Hopefully the pic uploaded, this is my first post...don't hate

When you're S-Off there's a little warning message that pops up on the splash screen on bootup, I'm guessing this gets rid of that. I am definitely not brave enough to try it, but it'd be cool if someone could confirm it worked.

but we'd need someone to edit our current hbot and make a patch for this phone and this hboot.

Agreed any time you flash hboot you want to pray to your god that there's no power outages, the laptop battery will last, no one will trip on any cord between the computer and phone, cross your fingers and hold your breath. This one was pulled from my phone and modified so it is 1.54 for vzw.

I don't know how that relates to my comment. I was just letting people know there is no reason to flash a bootloader because of the HUGE risk of hard, hard brick and no benefits unless you are a hacker/developer. I am not unlocked but I would not try this anyway, no offense. What benefits does this carry? According to your pictures, this removed s-off and also locked the bootloader. Unless this removes all of those checks, it is stupid because we have no way to unlock.

If you look closely there are a few extra spaces in those lines. Basically it makes it look like its s-on and locked. I've found that it's easier to walk into a verizon store and get help when they dont think you've unlocked. It also removed the nag string on the boot splash when you flash a custom rom. I've been using something like this on my rezound for over a year and from the ppl in that forum there was a want for it. Yes hboot is a very dangerous part if you don't know what your flashing. If it makes anyone feel better they can do a binary compare of this hboot with an original hboot and see that only the strings were manipulated.
Basically it was something I wanted so I did it for this phone. If others want to use it that is fine too, I just don't want to release something that could potentially brick based off of my mistakes, but it's been working fine for me for over a day.

From what I seen in the rest of the hboot no, it looks like it's obvious that its custom, s-off, and unlocked. This should also not be used for insurance fraud in any form or fashion. This is more or less to get people to not freak out and for people that like the stock look. As far as risk goes, having an s-off phone is dangerous since you can access the raw devices.
Looks nice!

Is there an RUU for our phones that, when flashed, would bring us right back to factory untouched condition?

Looks like this one should work
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2437436
Otherwise I still have the original hboot from my phone

[Q] I think I'm in so much trouble.... Need help please!

Hey guys,
I dropped my HTC One M8 today, and now it has a crack in the screen.
Well, I wanted to go back to the store to get it replaced under warranty, but I needed to unroot & go back to stock first.
So at home I tried to go back to stock and stuff, but it just didn't work. That is where **** hit the fan.
Right now, I can't boot into Android, can't boot intro recovery. Everytime I start my phone it boots into FASTBOOT USB, and I have the following screen: *see attachment*
I really don't know what to do, I've been searching for serveral hours and my guess is I hard-bricked it...
Please, please tell me there is a way to make it boot into android again...?

Did you try to run a ruu? See if you can find a ruu for your device model and carrier you can run ruu.exe from a windows computer in fast boot USB mode

I've tried to find the correct RUU, but everytime I get an error along these lines: 'Could not verify signature'
Where could I find a correct RUU?

Do you still have TWRP installed? Boot into recovery from your bootloader, and restore a backup. (You should have made one before you tried returning to stock)

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2701376 If you are talking about this thread, yes I checked it.
I downloaded several RUU's and they all say : 'MODEL-ID error, please download the correct RUU for your device'
I am going to try to change the CID to SuperCid but don't think it will work since I can't change my S-ON to S-OFF

Yea being s-on I don't think you can what is your cid and what carrier do you have maybe someone can modify one of the ruus to work with your cid cause it seems the ruu is checking your cid and it doesn't match for the ruu so it isn't working. Have you tried reflashing twrp and seeing if you can enter recovery again then maybe restore one of the backups from the backups thread. I don't know how much help I can actually be cause I'm just a flasher hopefully someone with more experience and knowledge can jump in and help you I'm just suggesting what I would do in your situation. I hope you get your phone booted again though
Omg i did it
I just started the whole process again of unlocking my bootloader and stuff, using the AOI Toolkit, and I am in the PhiliZ Touch CLockworkmod now ! Thank you all for helping me, I will carefully unroot now and bring my phone back

First of all, he can't boot into system.
Second of all, everything you've mentioned needs S-Off. He is S-On.
Third of all, HTC US is different than other regions. Most of the other RUUs that have been made available are not found on HTC's websites. Most are leaked versions, I believe.
And no. It isn't in any RUU threads on XDA.

First of he got it fixed and booted again if you actually read the thread second of all why are you even quoting me coming at me like that with this bs as I replied in one of my posts I might be the best to help him but I was offering suggestions as no one else was helping him. Do me a favor and don't quote me no more bs like that when all I'm trying to do is help. Thank you for your unnecessary two cents

I edited it as soon as I posted it and read ahead. I agree I should have read ahead first, but as far as nobody helping.....
Incorrect.
I started by helping him in another thread. I would have continued helping him here, but I had to go out to do real life stuff.
Anyway, the suggestions you gave wouldn't have worked.

That's fine my suggestions wouldn't have worked but as I said I was just trying to offer help my suggestions wouldn't have harmed him any further either but posts like the one you quoted me on makes me not want to help or offer suggestions to no one else. I've posted some useful stuff on xda though. I'm not the most technology savvy person but sometimes I do have some useful information. Like I told him I might not be the best person to help. But there's no reason to attack me for trying to help
Hey guys, thank both for the help....
But pls keep calm and "you just know what's the best for you"

Oh. By no means did I mean to make you feel attacked.
I'm sorry if I came across that way. I was telling you that the suggestions wouldn't work and explaining why. No offense was intended whatsoever.

It's cool I'm already over it. I know there are alot more people on here smarter then me about this phone stuff. All I really know how to do is read search and flash. This is the first phone I've unlocked and rooted and stuff like that so all this is new to me anyway. So no problem man.

Chances are, I'm no smarter than you are. Read and search and learn. That's what we all do here.
And sharing knowledge is what this site is based on. Please continue to try to help others.
Just don't be offended if someone corrects you. I do agree that I could have done it in a more tactful manner though. I can see how my post might have come across as abrasive, but that was not intended.
