Hi all,
Hoping someone can help me out here! I have an HTC Wildfire S, rooted with CM7 (unofficial 20120717).
Rooting saved me a heap of pain gaining extra memory, however now I can't add a Microsoft Exchange account!
The option simply isn't there. I go to Settings->Accounts and Sync-> add account and get options for dropbox, facebook, google and skype accounts but no Microsoft Exchange!
What am I doing wrong here? I have googled and found no other similar problems.
Need the account for work.
any help much appreciated!
HM
What nothing? Nobody ever heard of this issue or have any advice?
Please?

you have mail.apk and exchange.apk in your rom?
this could be reason so you can't add microsoft exchange account.

Thanks for the response crossfire77! Can you be a bit more specific as this is a little above my technical knowledge? How can I check if I have them? Is this simply a matter of browsing to a certain location with ES File Explorer?
If I don't, can I simply find the files and flash them or just copy them to the correct location?
cheers

you have to go to /system/app with es file explorer you will check all system apps there check my mentioned files is there or not.
because these files managed your exchange account.once i removed it(i dont need it so) that account feature is removed.
if these files don't there download cm7 base and copy from them to your system/app and add permission rw-r-r(644).
good luck

Problem resolved! :good:
I retrieved the EMAIL.APK (not mail.apk) file from the unofficial CM7 release zip, copied it and changed write permissions as per above and am in business.
Not sure why it wasn't there in the first place, as I don't believe I deleted it but all is well that ends well.
As there was no exchange.apk in the zip file and I couldn't find it in other builds I just went without it and have no issues (yet).
cheers again for the time.

I've looked but I would really like to find a complete list of what all the apk files are along with what they represent in Gingerbread 2.3.x.
Mainly for the purpose of replacing /system/app files with versions out of necessity or for purely esthetic reasons.
Ummm maybe read calks bare rom converter?
That is only a list of stripped apps from his rom. I would like a list of all the apk files AND what they represent.
For instance, Camera.APK is the Camera App (pretty obvious).
However, ChocoEUKor.APK is not as obvious.

It is. There was a list online I found a while back but can't remember the website now. Google Samsung apk list and it should get you started on your hunt.

It's a tough search. There are plenty of bloatware removal lists but not a complete apk list with descriptions.
I'll keep looking thanks.
Here are two list that I just made of the system app folder of EL29 Gingerbread Stock rom. Hope this helps.
They are in a zip file. One is a .csv and the other is a .pdf. If you need them in another format let me know. It does not tell the function of all files but has a list of them.

Ok sorry about that. I am uploading again to this post. I used winrar this time. Hopefully it works. I will test it before posting but just let me know if it doesn't work for you.
EDIT: I tested and it opened fine this time around. Sorry to the mishap.
I have the boost mobile s2, which I'm told is exactly like the samsung epic touch 4g. I am rooted and am on a custom rom (pacinblack). I am trying to install a mail apk file someone linked me to that also has a widget inside this app. The file is email.apk. I also have es file explorer. I downloaded the file and I long pressed the file (in es explorer) to install it. It said it installed correctly. I then reboot my phone and go into my app drawer and widgets and there is no mail app. Am I doing something wrong??When I go into settings-apps and when I look in the download section, there is no mail app, but when I go into the all section I see something that says exchange services. Is this the e-mail apk I am looking for. When I press on this, it gives me two options, to forcestop or diaable?? This is called exchange services and has a picture beside it of mail, so I figured this was it. Does anyone know why this is not showing up in my app or widget drawer?? Does this apk file have to be in a particular folder on my sd card or in systems? Someone told me in the other forum that to put it in systems-apps. I tried moving it to there but it wont move there and when I try, it changes the name of the file but leaves it right where it is?? I have root access enabled on my es explorer so that is not the problem. If anyone has any suggestions, it would be greatly appreciated. I am seeking help in this forum because the other forum is not that active and there doesn't appear to be any active developers there. Thank again.

Is the email.apk compatible with Pacinblack? What I mean, for example, the email client in JV is secemail.apk. You may have an incompatible email.apk. I tinker with my system apk's all the time. Just copy your email.apk that you currently have in system, anywhere. Then long press the one in system file, delete it, then cut and paste your friends in there. If it doesn't take, just put your original one in there, but if it's compatible with Pacinblack, which I believe is jb, it should take. Good luck.

Thanks for the responses. Like you said, I'm surprised pib rom doesn't have a native app. Do you have any idea what that exchange services is under settings-apps-all. There's a little mail icon next to this. If that's not for email, does anyone know where I can get the right apk mail file for the pac in black rom. Maybe I have the wrong apk for this rom. I was looking on the epic 4g rom developer thread but couldn't find the file and I couldn't post on that thread to ask.

When I installed the pac in black rom, I also installed the gapps file with it. How do I know what jb gapps to pull the apk from? Isn't there certain gapps for a particular rom? Also, when I have the file, how do I pull the apk file from it, I've never done this before. By the way, thanks for the help in trying to assist me in getting this mail app working.

I am looking for a native email app that has a widget so I don't have to open a app to see my emails. I just got this phone about 2 weeks ago, previously I had the HTC evo v with a custom rom the had the email app I am looking for now. Can you direct me to which jb gapps are compatible with this rom and which gapps is likely to have the email app I seek, thanks.

Stock XL ROM
Does anyone have a stock XL ROM (if it is legal to have and provide one)? Can they provide it to me?
I installed gapps temporarily on my XL in order to active Google Play Services and download my purchased apps. Next, I tried to uninstall gapps, and find it has infiltrated my system to such an extent that I don't know how to get rid of it.
I wish I had made a backup using TWRP before installing gapps!

i have downloaded your contacts.apk but it cannot be insatalled
Hey guys im a bit new to this post making business but I thought it would be good to share my findings.
Install this apk https://www.dropbox.com/s/stuq8vaehh9hvsw/ChromeBookmarksSyncAdapter.apk
you can either push it to system/app and clear dalvik then reboot
or install like any other apk
the sync adapter app will not work with s5 browser therefore u will need the stock n2 browser, if u don't already have it then I have a link at bottom of this post
then as long as sync internet is checked in your google account settings then it will sync
Also here is the link for a stock browser which u have to put it in ur system/app folder
https://www.dropbox.com/s/v3n7zyodqx8pv3u/SecBrowser_SPR.apk?dl=0
PLEASE HIT THE THANKS BUTTON IF THIS HELPED YOU!!!

cannot download ROM
Hello,
I am trying to download this ROM but there's an error on Mega. I have KitSlim AMG, I know what I have to do to install this ROM, I have the tools but not so much luck with downloading this ROM to install it.
Do you have another link for download? Mega says error ...
Thank you in advance.
This rom is the best
Few Questions:
Is this ROM already Deodexed?
Do I still need Super User for this ROM?
I have a prob with 4k(Not working) and Portrait Touch(Lacks the other apps it came from)
is this normal?
Baseband
Hello friends, it is extracted from the new FW last baseband with the number 51, and create it as a Flash file? It would have helped me if it could jit.Extract file does not exist? Thank you.

MyXperia
I installed the ROM and was amazed - it works perfectly.
UNTIL I activated MyXperia (Tracking Phone etc). The device got stuck and was now placed in a bootloop...
Is there a fix for this? Maybe this is a little Bug
Allready flashed it again so it is working again.

Cannot add Google Account to Contacts
Hello guys, I have a very strange problem...
I can add a Google account on first startup after installing this ROM, setup sync, everything seems to be fine, some apps start to update...thats all good...Gmail works, Google Play works... But, when I start contacts app or go to contacts from dialer, I can see no contacts there, and there is only option to add a Exchange account, but not Google account... Filters are set correctly... It is really strange and I have never seen anything like this before... I even tried a third party contacts app from Google Play, but the options were the same... My previous ROM was AOKP, I installed stock 108 ROM using Flashtool, then rooted, then flashed Recovery, then installed this, with of course full wipe and everything. Didnt find any other issue, everything is fast, smooth, and working fine... Except I cannot call to anyone because I dont have any numbers...
Any help is much appreciated.
Thank you!
Contacts again!
Ok, so it took one night without sleep, but I seem to find the reason... First a question: What exactly is, or more specifically is NOT in the ROM if I choose to remove bloatware during the instalation? Because, if I choose not to remove it, contacts work... If I choose to remove it, contacts just won't work. Again, any clarification from someone who can explain this is welcome...
Thank you!

of course, because in the debloating script there are two entries:
googlecontactssyncadapter.apk
googlecalendarsyncadapter.apk
Debloat your ROM with the script, reboot, put both attached apk´s into /system/app folder, set permission to rw-r-r and reboot.

Thank you for the info, I'm just curious, why are these two apk files removed by the script? They look pretty useful to me...? Also is there any other surprise to look for if I choose to debloat the ROM? Right now I am running "bloated" version, and so far I am happy with it, so I am not sure if its worth it... What is the main advantage? (yea, I know - "if you have no idea what it does, then you probably don't need it")
There doesn't seem to be a big difference in internal storage space either...
Thanks again
RW to system?
I tried to install debloated ROM and then copy the two apk files to system/app, but I wasnt able to get write permission, despite having root access. Digging up some info, I found out that some kernels might be locked to write to system folder despite being rooted. Can this be the case? In any case, I probably wont be poking my nose into that again, but I just would like to know for future. Thank you!
EDIT: Nevermind, found this, which makes remount possible...
