Regain some storage space with "My files"

I'm running FreeSG3 and when looking through all the apps found "My files". I'm not really sure if its part of the ROM or not but I definitely did not down load it (if it is part of the ROM, thanks Clark44). Very useful and simple app. When opened it shows extSdCard and sdcard
With a few backups and lots of apps my internal storage was getting a little low. I used "My files" to move the backups to my extSdCard and have regained a good bit of internal storage back.

My files is just a simple file explorer.....you can also download more advanced ones off the market like Root Explorer or ES Explorer....and yes moving files like backups to the external SD card will give you more system space.
Absolutely! Anyone with even a little Android experience is probably familiar with the more full featured file managers ie Astro, File Manager, ES File Explorer, Root Explorer and so one. I bring "My files" up for it's shear ease in doing a simple task, moving something from internal memory to your sd card. IMO it accomplishes this task a lot easier than those others, but I still use those others also for other things, just kind of throwing this one out there for those who have not used it before
My Files comes with the stock Samsung rom, btw.
Be careful about moving say nandroid backups to your extSdCard because some versions of CWM don't have access to the external storage only internal storage.

Thanks, yeah thats kind of why I started this thread because not all recoveries or file manager type apps have access or recognize extSd cards and My files makes it so easy to move things back and forth. Anyway I use TWRP for recovery.

Go to http://www.clockworkmod.com/rommanager
Then look for "Samsung Galaxy S3 (Sprint)". Left one is Standard CWM and right one is Touch CWM. These are .img files that must be converted to .tar files to work in Odin.

Wrong. Just download mobile Odin, change the IMG name to recovery.img and flash with mobile Odin. Much easier and no computer needed.

[Q] TB from 4.1 to 4.2

I use Titanium Backup to save and load all my apps when I flash a new ROM. I started using a 4.2.1 ROM and wanted to go back to a 4.1 ROM to get the basic Samsung settings. However, when I flash a 4.1 ROM and run TB it says I do not have any files to restore. But then in a 4.2.1 ROM they are there. Is there a way to convert the apps back to 4.1 so they run on an older OS.
Thanks
I could be wrong but I think you have to move the TB files because 4.2 creates the 0 folders

When you went to 4.2 the system moves all your files to the O folder in storage. On 4.1 it's looking for them where they originally where. You can copy and paste everything back to its original location but you can not move them at this point.

Do I just need to move the whole folder to the root of my SD card? Or how do you get rid if the 0 folder?

Could you walk me through how to move the file? I went into my file manager and copied the TB folder and pasted it back on my extSD card. Then I took all the files in the TB folder and copied them into a different folder and named it TB2 and still nothing.
Never mind I found it had to relocate the backup file in the sdcardO folder.

[Q] nandroid backup HTC One M7 AT&T

Hi I Have CWM recovery installed and want to trnsfer my nandroid recovery to my pc so I can l8r restore from it. I can see it in my root browser. it's in /data/media/cwm/recovery but when i get on pc--> I can't seem to find that folder... This is HTC One AT&T with CWM.Can anyone please tell me how to tranfer the file?
Look for sdcard/cwm/ or something like that. Comps read it a bit different. Data/media/ is technically a root folder of sorts, so you can't access that through a computer.
Also for future reference, post in the at&t forums as they may be more help for your issues than the Verizon forum.
Also, don't double post. Its against the rules.

If I've helped, please hit the thanks button
Cwm stores backups in the directory the OP stated.
In order to copy it to the PC, you'll need a root enabled file explorer, such as ES file explorer.
Make sure root access is enabled in the apps settings.
Then copy the backup files to a folder on the SD card using the app.
Once copied to the SD card, you can then access it from your PC.

How do you delete the obb folder ?

How do you delete the obb folder in the internal storage ?
use a file manager like root explorer/solid explorer. Or you could just wipe internal sd also.

I still cannot delete the obb folder using those file manager program. It seems that the obb folder is unable to be deleted. It is write protected. My note 3 is rooted.
Why would you want to delete the obb folder? Do you know what it is. Instead of deleting it.. ( all of you apps downloaded data). Why don't you move some of the biggest apps to the ext sd to free up some space ☺???

[Q] external sd card write access

Is there a fix for this? every fix I find requires root
AMEN
Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk
No non-rooted fix. Applications have to be updated to use a new framework.
EZ-PDF is an example of one that can access and write to the card if files are opened via the content provider option instead of the built in file handler.
Es file explorer apparently can also do it.

I could not copy /paste from internal storage to card using ES File Explorer
I've read 5.0 will fix this..I can't wait if this is true since we can't have root
I'm confused. I'm able(i think from what I just did) to move a pdf, and I've been moving pictures, videos, etc to and from my sd card. Is there a certain file type restriction, because when I experienced the block before,I couldn't move anything.
So I'm confused?

Most Apps that come in the Stock ROM can move to SD card...Stock File Explorer...for one, it just can't access all file folders in phone. 3rd party apps have the trouble.

Ah got you. Maybe I will try to download my solid explorer. I haven't installed a lot of apps I previously used to this device. Lol, it's funny, but I just haven't felt the need..
But what's an example of one the stock file browser can't pick up our move? I want to try it..
Sent from Note 4 on Tapatalk
Basically...anything in the "root" of the phone...system folder for example...Stock explorer can not access.
