[Q] How to do a repartition? - Samsung Galaxy Gio GT-S5660

My SD card is 2GB. I have one big partition (about 1.7GB) and another ext4 partition for INT2EXT scripts...
So, how can I make to have 2 partitions: one about 1.5GB and the other one 0.5GB?
I have to shrink bigger partition and extend the smaller one somehow...
And I don't have card reader.

With minitool partition you can resize partitions while saving their data (if all goes right-so do a backup anyway)

Ok, but I heard that I need card reader or it'll brick the SD card... Is that true?

you can do a sd card partition in cwm recovery. it's in advanced options. just be sure to save all of your data first

It will create another partition, so I'll have 3 partitions. That's not what i want.

You can use a USB card reader or a MicroSD reader; for sure you can't use your phone as bridge for mounting sd card.

OK, I think I'll buy it tomorrow... The cheaper one.

Yes. Best to MD5 before and after to make sure it copies correctly.

you think all the dada will be good?
I've copied between SD cards in the past without a problem. I just attached the phone to my Windows PC in Disk Drive mode, copied all the files to the PC, swapped SDs and swapped back. Save the 8GB card and don't wipe it until you're sure everything copied over fine.
As long as you haven't created an ext partition, you shouldn't have any problems copying from sd to sd.

And what if you did copy files over from a SD card with a ext3 partition to your PC? Can you elaborate a little more?
I've had put a blank card in phone 1st let it format it with the nessesary file structure and then over wright with the contents of old card.

From my understanding, when you partition your SD card, you essentially split your memory card's capacity by the size of the ext partition. So when you mount your sd card for the purpose of backing up your memory card, you're only backing up the disk drive portion. You'll need to use ROOT EXPLORER or a file manager app that can access your phone's sd-ext folder.
On second thought, you should just do a NANDROID and be sure to include your sd-ext partition. Then boot into recovery. Create a new sd-ext partition (same size as the previous one) and copy the NANDROID folder over to your new SD card along with the disk drive backup.
Then restore your nand.

From what I can recall cwm only recognizes fat 32. You can format your sd card to fat 32 using a specific windows app. It's called guiformat.

You can also use Easus Partition Manager.
I've been using it for years. It's what I used to format my own 64GB MicroSD in Windows to Fat32.
It's free btw

[Q] sd card partition

I have a big question...is there a way to partition the sd card without a card reader?
AW: [Q] sd card partition
You can partition your sd card in Cwm recovery. But you should backup all of the data on the card

[Q] EXT2/3/4 for external SD card?

Can I pre-format the external SD card for EXT2/3/4 filesystem and use it in stock Note 2?
To format I can use a card reader and Linux desktop computer say...
Also what would happen with accessing such a card from PC (Windows, Linux?)
I think you can format sd card with phone itself if that's what you are asking.

Seems like the phone formats it with exFAT or FAT32 only depending on the ROM.
And the formatting is not a problem, I can always format from Linux.
The Q is how would the phone react? And what about accessing the SD from PC?
Well testing it yourself wouldn't hurt.

Format the external sd card

Hi everybody,
I am having some issues with my sd card and I want to format it. I am asking what is the best format to do. my sd card is class 10 samsung , my device is SGN II .
Thanx in Advance
I always try to format on computer and then reformat in the device you will be using and had best results this way. Nope this helps!

Always format any SD card in the device in which it will be used. This will always work and ensures that the SD card has the correct format for the device.

Works best for me when I have troubles with my SD card.
I always format from the pc in fat 32, the only problem is that you won't be able to write files bigger than 4GB into the sd
