Hi.
I just installed a boss 7" touchscreen stereo on my car. It has bluetooth usb and all the good stuff.
After playing around with it i started thinking if there is a way to stream video from my phone( like hdmiteam win app) using the aux cable. What i mean is, there is a function on iPod settings that changes to TV out using the headphone jack.
Is there anything similar for evo?
Another question, have u guys used the usb-to-hdmi converters?
I was thinking on buying one to see if i can stream video using that, if there us nothing like what u mentioned above.
Thanks guys, any input or ideas would be awesome.

There is not a way to stream over the headphone jack that I know of. Also the usb to hdmi is not an option either. Our evo does have a micro hdmi out that does work to stream audio and video. It will work with any hdmi input. The cable can be found online for less than $5. I have purchased one myself and use it for Netflix on my led tv. It works great as long as your rom supportys hdmi out.

Right.
The ipods audio jack and it's cable are specifically specially designed for video output unlike our evos 3.5mm jack which is not.
What type of video inputs does the display on your touchscreen car stereo have?

Here is a picture of the back of your stereo.
It has an HDMI jack right there.
Output the same way you would to a TV with the same HDMI to Micro HDMI cable.
(You'll have to run the HDMI cable from the back of the stereo to a spot you can plug in your phone.)
That is actually a usb jack and not hdmi. Thats why i was thinking of usb to hdmi coverter.

Ah, damn.
Try a Composite to HDMI box.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0080KN18K/ref=mw_dp_mpd?pd=1&qid=1363125109&sr=8-1
Should work, check with the manufacturer to be sure.
It would be
Evo<HDMI<Box<Composite<Stereo
Ok. I ordered one, one of the reviews said it used it for his droid and stereo so im guessin it should work.
Ill keep this updated

Hey everyone, I unfortunately don't have an HDTV, so I can't use an MHL adapter. So can anybody recommend to me a good micro USB to RCA adapter that I can use on a TV?
Ummm wow. Uh you can pick up a MHL adapter and maybe try to convert HDMI to VGA (analog signal) then VGA to RCA.
The HDMI to VGA convert the signal from digital to analog required for what your looking to do.
I suggest monoprice for the adapters because it may not work. I think the phone requires some kind of communication from the TV before it will output at all.
Maybe go to radio shack and ask them. They work off commission and usually let you try the parts in the store before you buy it.
LTE EX Galaxy Nexus CM9
Asus Transformer Revolver
I was looking at monoprice and I couldn't seem to find one cable that would do it, and I was hoping that I didnt have to use adapters on adapters to get the job done.
I found this on amazon: http://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B00...&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=463383511&pf_rd_i=915398

but unfortunately it goes from the headphone jack, which I would assume doesnt send out the picture quite as good as from the usb, but hey for less than a buck (canadian) what do i got to loose right?
But I would still like some suggestions on what I could use through the micro usb
Please don't order that you are wasting your money, the phone doesn't support analog out of the headphone jack. Also you can't convert a digital picture to analog via cables. There is no way to go from HDMI to RCA without expensive conversion in which case you should just buy a HD TV.
Damn not the news I was hoping for, thanks though for the insight!
Search Amazon for B0047PDBP0, you've looking for an HDMI to composite (not component) video converter. However, even a cheap one is ~$50 and the quality won't be great even with a good one. You may be better off putting that $50 towards an HDTV. Amazon also has a few cheap 720p models in the $100-150 range.
Really??????

I hate to say it, but after all the crap you need to go from MHL to HDMI to component to composite, you'd be cheaper off with a 20" HDTV from your local electronics store.

you can get an HDMI to rca (component) adaptor without expensive conversion..
there are cheap ones on ebay.. i dont know if the phone outputs the required data for this cable to work, however.. has anyone tried? i'm interested because i only ahve composite video available on the screen in my car
Without d/a conversion the signal is still digital and not analog regardless of the plug(s) the adapter changes the HDMI cable into. If your screen supports a digital input, then it might work, but I doubt it does.
if you already have an MHL cable, then youre $50 away from getting what you want http://www.monoprice.com/products/p...&cagpspn=pla&gclid=CNiDrvDUmLQCFelDMgoduyAAtg

Hey guys, I've searched extensively for this but I really need a mod/app/kernel / rom that will allow phone call audio out on the original samsung car dock. Music works fine and it's loud and clear on car stereo but phone calls just get routed to phones own loudspeaker.
The Dock plugs into phone via micro usb then you plug in a 3.5mm headphone jack and separate charging cable into the dock itself
Any help would be really appreciated!

A mechanical alternative might be to get an audio jack splitter and a 3.5mm to 3.5mm cable, then plug that into the top of the phone and the other end into the splitter, which then goes into the dock with the one spare female jack being for a cable to the car audio input. No clue if that will work though, but in theory...

That's a good idea but liked the fact the dock is pretty hassle free. Just pop the phone in and everything is connected. Anyone have any other solutions or links to custom ROMs that have sorted this issue?

An audio splitter splits the audio, it does not combine it. What you want is a mixer, which is a different product (and usually much more expensive). A mixer is designed to attenuate the signal from the two inputs so that the combined output doesn't overload the speakers.
So in theory, it would not work. But in practice you might be able to get away with it as long as you don't try to use both phone outputs at the same time. But if you care about the speakers on your car, I wouldn't risk it.
To the OP, I think the phone will send both music and calls over Bluetooth, so you might look into a Bluetooth adapter for your car as a possible solution. Something like this: http://www.amazon.com/Britelink-Bluetooth-Audio-Receiver-Portable/dp/B0059M4G9K
Thanks for the advice!

I know what you mean, but I don't think adding dual inputs to the line-in would in any way affect the actual speakers. I've used this method on various gear before and the result varies. Sometimes they mix fine, sometimes one signals essentially mutes the other.
A simple solution guaranteed to work however is to make a splitter that has a switch. More cumbersome, but it would allow you to manually switch from one input to the other when a call comes in.
surely it would be a quick coding hack to a ROM which would allow phone audio to be routed through the dock, after all that is what happens to music and GPS instructions... so why not phone audio!?

OMG! I LOVE THIS PHONE even more. Tonight I was able to connect my Apple Bluetooth Keyboard and Rocksoul Bluetooth Mouse and am now doing my homework on my new tablet computer! Our Galaxy S2 really is an amazing device. Not only is it a sick phone, it allows us to have a personal computer in our hands ready to do whatever work we need at anytime.
This phone's value just went UP in my book. I got my Apple Silver Wireless Keyboard for 65.00 & currently use it with my Mac Mini.
The Rocksoul silver mouse set me back 25.00 tonight at Microcenter. I'm sure there may be cheaper alternatives however I can confirm both work very well and complement the phone very well.
Any questions please ask....by the way I posted this from my Apple keyboard!
The only caveat is that the phone allowed me to pair 2 devices at once. I had to unpair my bluetooth earpiece to get my mouse to pair up.
I'm sure there's a work around out there...for now I'm happy I'm able to do my homework on my phone it doesn't matter

Now, we need a keyboard app that once installed and selected, the on-screen keyboard will stay hidden. i remember back in the days before Android, with my Windows PDA, they had a small keyboard program that when activated will prevent the on screen keyboard from popping up when you needed to type.
It seems something like that should be out there in the market. i havent found it though.
Edit: i think i found one -

My sgs3 is only 2 days old. I'm on the stock Rom. Not rooted.
When I plug my Mytouch 4g slide into my 3.5 mm audio cable, it assumes I am plugged into headphones and starts playing music through my car. (The headphone symbol shows up on the status bar.)
With my gs3. I plug the phone into my car and it continues playing music through my phone speaker and ignores the fact that I have a 3.5mm cable plugged in.(no symbol in status bar.)
Headphones work fine, however playing music through my car does not. What is the fix for this? New cable?

do you have any kind of case on the sgs3? I noticed that some cases don't let you plug in the aux cables all the way and it doesn't get a good connection. make sure your aux cable is plugged in all the way. if that doesn't work try another cable to see if that's the issue.

I tried a different AUX cable and I still have the problem. I wonder if there's a phone setting I need to change? Anyone please???
p.s. CD's and radio audio is thru both speakers but not phone.

I have no problems with my regular 3.5mm headphone jack in my stereo, but I do agree that it is kind of touchy, especially with my case on. For a work around, I put my music on my SD card, and plug the usb into my phone, mount it as UMS with SGS3 EASY UMS, and Voila! Music on my stereo and control of the music through my car stereo vs the phone.
I got a new cable and having the same problems. Headphones still have no issue but I tested my phone connected to my ihome via audio cable and I'm having a funny issue where between songs if I press next, the speaker sounds like there's nothing plugged in. (Audio feedback) but then it stops when the new song plays.
Also... in my car I was able to play music if I plug the cable into my car and press play simultaneously. The 'headphones connected' notification comes up for about 1.5 seconds. If I press play while that notification is there, I can play one song. But then after one song finishes, the same problem happens.
Edit: I cannot produce the headphones connected notification by plugging the cable into my phone, only if the cable is already in my phone and I plug it into my car
I'm beginning to think that my headphone jack is not grounded properly so imma exchange the phone for another one if I test this issue with my friends gs3 and do not have the same problem

Do you mean get videos to play to rear monitors ? If so, then the only way is if you have a unit with a DVD player built in, then you can, but ONLY from the DVD, no other source.
Yes and yes. I have the commander with the Eanon GA2114. Ves will work but you need to do some work . My VES was originally connected to a REC nav unit. The back of the stock jeep rear video entertainment unit has a wiring schematic. Just splice appropriately

The AVIN app you're speaking of?
I'm not sure about your head unit, but as you can see by the schematics of mine I have an audio video input that I connected my VES unit into. From there if you look at the other attached photo, there is an AVIN in the upper right hand corner that you would have to select in order to choose the video / audio input channel on the back of the unit. That is how mine is connected.
