[Off-topic] Galaxy gio replacement

Hello everyone!
This thread was created for those who has been changed/sold their gio and bought an new phone for reasons and why.
here's mine:
I replaced galaxy gio with htc sensation XE because of these things,
- 1.5ghz dual-core cpu(OC upto 1.8ghz+)
- 4.3 Inch large screen with 540x960 Resolution
- Amazing 8mp camera with Dual-Led flash
- Aluminium Design
what's yours one ?
I havent got my new phone yet but gonna get it:
The new phone which I'll buy is Samsung Galaxy Star
Specs:
1Ghz Cortex A5 Single Core
Processor
512 MB RAM
Android 4.1.2
Camera 2MP-Yea I dont care that cuz I never use camera)
1200MaH-I can get a gold battery for that so no worries)
Custom ROM-Not in Development but root is availiable and recovery is WIP.
Better then gio for me!

I got a Galaxy S2 Plus and S4 Octacore edition (BTW the S4 was from my father first now I've got it )

[Q] custom rom for a tab with allwinner a13 chip?

512 ram
mali 400mhz gpu.
can somebody tell what rom will be apt for these specs. there has to be custom rom for tabs with similar specs
No idea. This section of the forums is for discussion of Paranoid Android rom.

Given those specs I find it unlikely to happen, maybe for an a31 or a RK3188
Is it a 7 inch tablet? I think there is cyanogen but you have to mod/build per device as there is loads of allwinners generic tablets, basically figure out your touchscreen device and flash extra file, however all info is in Chinese and Russian forums so I personally gave up with Google translate, my tab decided to boot loop for no reason and wipe coach or reset factory doesn't help so I'm screwed, as I can't find model number and found page with over 100 different stock firmwares for diff brands, BTW the tabs can look the same, mine is a pink 7" I got for my niece, having to send back as reason above

[GENERAL HELP] Post Your Questions Here Instead of Making a New Thread

Many people are joining xda on daily basis. Some of them join the forum to get custom ROMs while some join in order to get some of their problem that they are facing with their phones solved.
There are dedicated threads for ROMs but what about HELP/QUESTIONS??
People generally straight away start a new thread to get their doubts solved. But this can lead to chaos in the forum.
I'm creating this thread as an alternative to *New Threads* that aim to resolve a question.
Not only this, this thread can also become a Database kind of place where people can look if their question is already solved or not...
I request all members of the ASUS ZENFONE 2 sub-forum to help and answer some questions posted here if they can.
I hope you guys get the idea behind this thread...

From where you got the info about the prices? Or is just a guess? I also think that the high specs version would have the price of 299.
Anyone knows how are these processors with the battery life.?

To my understanding atom processors are nowhere near the performance of current generation ARM.. Has anything changed? Is this cpu comparable to anything released in the last year?

Benchmarks report the higher end one in zenphone 2 is comparable to snap Dragon 805. Not sure about battery efficiency.
In terms of real world performance, the Intel CPUs are very satisfying. I have a very old CloverTrail CPU in my Venue 8 tablet, and it feels just as snappy as the Snapdragon 800 in my phone, even though the 800 blows it away in benchmarks.
The big question is how is the ROM and dev support going to be for this phone.

That's good to hear! I'm excited about this phone assuming 1) unlocked bootloader + source release and 2) Dev support
So since I am new here and found this thread I had to ask..
I am intrigued by the Zenfone 2 but I like the Oneplus One as well..
I am an iOS user (got really tired of it.. ) and I am going to switch to Android.
The advice I've been given is to search if there are going to be custom ROMs and support before buying a phone!
Is there a reason to wait for the Zenfone 2 over the Oneplus One?
(Planning on using a custom ROM so it will have "pure" android (propably CM, dunno still searching) )
Thnx in advance
Considering the specs on the ZenFone 2 are basically the same as all these 7-10" Windows tablets, how long before you think before we see full Windows 8.1/10 on the ZenFone 2?

Having owned the OnePlus One and a Note 3 with CM11, they are both very nice. I have a good feeling about the ZenFone 2 though. More "open" hardware. You may also look at the Lenovo P90 (much bigger battery). The #1 advantage of the ZF2 or the P90 is that they both run 64bit processors, so they are ready for 64bit Android.
Is the Zenfone2 gonna work on Verizon Network?

With the 720p model, it'll be a 5 inch phone, right?
Go for ASUS you wont regret it!
If the price is acceptable, this one definitely will be a hot item.Asus is very committed in costumer satisfaction.their is extremely fast in software upgrading. Asus strategies in marketing have fortunes both side.for example, after zenfone 5 Lte out with kitkat ,month later(l believed its take a month just because its had a different cpu vendor) all previous Zenfone series also received same upgrading and all leftover stock in market becomes high demanded until need to refill. Now zenfone 5 is conquer over 4 Asean country and the funny things is I,the early owner of zenfone 5 still use jb because its alredy bugless in last jb version(finally usb OTG support) .In my country, zenfone 5 is one of hot items and now I'm very proud to shows off my fone to my friends cause its so popular. Now zenfone its definitely on theirs list.Thank you Asus for my dignity
WHAT about GPL compliance of ASUS.... was there any word about device tree and source code???
how did xda opened a thread for zenfone 2????
Hello everyone
I intend to buy a new phone but with dual card. I wanted to buy Xiaomi MI Note, but the cost is huge so I gave up. I stumbled upon a phone AusuZenfon2. As I watched some clips on YT seems that his camera much good. In Xioamia Mi Note camera is even better than the iPhone 6 Plus. I hope and Zenfonu 2 will be good camera.
What interests me is:
1. How satisfied are you with you thus far zenfonom users in general?
2. Procesor which is located in the Zenfone2 (64-bit Intel Atom 3560/3580 Quad Core Processor (Running at 1.8 / 2.3GHz) PowerVR Series 6 - G6430, with OpenGL 3.0 support), so I interesujeu which rank this processor in compared to the Snapdragon family? 800, 801 or maybe 805?
3. Does really feature HDR blacklight gives such good pictures in low light or is just marketing trick?
4. Will it will be 4K recording and slowmotion 240fps in zenfonu 2?
5. Zenfone 2 will have two models, one of 2GB and the other 4GB Ram. Is the difference only in RAM or a even a change?
Advance very grateful
PS I see the comments someone goes dead motherboard. How is this happening? And if this is a common problem with this phone?
P.S2 .. I looked at photos Zenfon 5 :crying:and unfortunately photos are bad phone that I now have a Xioami Mi3 and captures a lot of good pictures. Will Zenfone 2 have a better camera than Zenfona 5?

Unfortunately not. Verizon works on CDMA network which is not supported by Zenfone 2 and is not supported by a lot of other phones. Verizon also uses LTE network and it is currently the broader LTE network in the USA. You can check the coverage here: http://www.verizonwireless.com/. The Verizon LTE network bands will be supported by some models of Zenfone 2. You could theoretically use Zenfone 2 on Verizon, but then you have to use voip instead of standard calling and depend fully on the LTE in general.

Nobody uses the Zenfone 2 because it's not on the market yet. I have Asus tablet based on (an older) Intel SoC and I'll try to answer to your questions on the base of that experience:
1. I'm really satisfied with the tablet. It is fast, stable and modest in energy consumption.
2. Intel 3580 is generally considered better SoC than any of Snapdragons you mentioned and has better Antutu Results. Besides only the newest of Snapdragons 805 (and 810) is 64-bit, but both are 28nm, so they are likely less energy efficiently than Intel Atom 3560/3580, which are 22nm thick.
3. It's not a market trick. You can get live tests of camera performance.
4. yes.
5. It's not known yet, but I assume that Asus plans to offer entry level model with Intel 3560, 2GB RAM and lower resolution and high end with Intel 3580, 4GB RAM and higher resolution. Starting price for the first model is supposed to be $199 and for the second one $299. Additional ROM will probably increase the price. And there are still modifications which are not sorted out yet regarding LTE antennas regarding selling territory and 5 inch model which is currently still a big mystery.

Deep Black Edition (fake leather) ROM compatibility

Hi guys,
is this "deep black" (as it is called in europe), the version with this fake leather backside, also compatible with roms?
I find it listed as "deep black" or "deep black VF" , but without version number. It has the dual core, but a larger screen.
Most Roms like Cyanogen, Carbon or Miui are compatible with
GT-I9190
GT-I9192
GT-I9195
Can anyone conrifm this "deep black 1,7 GHz dual core, 4,3" screen" version is as compatible as the GT-I9195?

Is the same phone . What is different in rom is cache.img.ext4 that contains some small modifications ( new ringtones , black wallpapers and a boot animation )
So if u want to install a rom from "non black" edition on a black phone NO PROBLEM it will work
Model number is the same is not changed .
BUT to buy now an new S4 mini normal is not worth it.
U should look for GT-I9195I is the quad core variant S4 Mini Plus
but i see people having problems with the i9195i.
besides, is the quad core 1,2 really faster or just a marketing gag since people always want more cores, more mega pixel, more display etc? a thread running on the dual core will be faster than on the quad. is the android os itself optimized for 4+ cores? i am not a multi tasking whore, i just want miui or carbon on a small phone. this one is as big as i am willing to go.
bump

Is possible to port worse TW lollipop to S4 Mini ?

Samsung says memory limitations. hmm, why a3 2015 has lollipop ? A3 HAS 1GB RAM. 2 cores not has problems to run lollipop.
Why I'm say worse ? Samsung's all devices, only S4 mini and s3 neo has Snapgragon 400. but s3 neo has 720p display, s4 mini has 540p display.
Yea, great developer edit s3 neo lollipop port rom to had compatible qHD display. but s3 neo has cortex a7, s4 mini has krait 300
But I don't know who is succesfully ported 5.1 to s3 neo. note 3 neo has 720p but has exynos ???
Next device is A3 2015 but it has 64-bit cpu. blablabla...
Possible ?

i'm unable to understand devs here in s4 mini section , they dont even try , and not even respond when its about it !
there must be a way to do it , do you know any turo on how to port lollipop to kitkat devices ?
Maybe the only way to do that will be creating from cm sources with an existing ROM with another skin. Time ago, when I got my galaxy ace I tried a ROM that was a jellybean port, that was far from TW 2.X look and feel.

adityapal(adizmayazal) tried it but as far as I know unfortunately he got too many force closes, issues
J2 is worse device than s4 mini. Than J2 has exynos 3. I don't know
