Hi Guys,
I have a HTC One X (Quad-core model) and am trying to flash to a custom ROM. Below are some details about the specific model I have..
cid: OPTUS001
version-main: 2.17.980.4
HBoot: 1.12 S-ON
Recovery ROM: CWM
I'm trying to go with a popular custom ROM, but not having much luck with this. I did bump into CyanogenMod, but this requires HBoot to be version 1.28 and from what I can tell, this is not possible with my CID.
Are there any other popular custom ROM's that are compatible with my phone?
Cheers, joo
I would suggest to return to stock if you are not and update to jellybean first and then going for a custom rom. Your choice of custom roms to use is now limited because of the hboot version

Thanks Mr Hofs.
Why is it better to go to stock, upgrade to jellybean and then look at going custom?
Also are there any popular custom ROM's that you know of which would be an option for me?
Cheers, joo

You can either go back to stock and it will automatically update your hboot through OTA or manually flash new hboot (easy if you can follow basic instructions).
Popular ROMs? I guess have a look at the number of views on each thread? But popular or not, try them all out and see what YOU like. Once you upgrade hboot you can use any ROM
Edit: Optus released JB update in December, you're a few months late

Hi,
I bought an HTC One X from Telecom NZ earlier this week.
I checked my phones CID, and it is TELNZ001. Is this CID compatible with JB ROM's?
Nope. Sorry

You will have to wait for Telecom to release their branded version. They have most likely received the base from HTC and will release it when it's ready. You could of course root the phone, so once HTC release the software for unbranded versions sometime later this month, the chefs on here should have a compatible build up within hours! That's what I'm waiting for, even though my phone is unbranded, the CID is HTC_044 which is currently not compatible with the test release!
Considering there is a LIST OF CIDs in the OP of every Sense JB ROM it's not hard to work out for yourself that a branded handset isn't compatible. Seriously, why can't people just READ rather than go straight for the download links...

But I don't get why the sales guy that sold me the phone (who also bought his HTC One X from the store I got mine from) was able to root his One X, and run the CM10 daily ROM's.
Is it possible that he has an older version One X with a different CID?

No, he unlocked his bootloader, rooted his phone and flashed CM10. It's not too hard, there's good guides on the internet (Google it) and if you need any further help you can PM me if you want.
Just FYI: CM10 is NOT a Sense based JB ROM or even close. It is however a Jellybean (4.1.2) based ROM

Sorry, probably poor use of terminology on my behalf...that's what I want to do, unlock, root, and flash a custom ROM.
What is the relevance of the CID then to flashing a custom ROM?

The CID part only comes in if you want to flash a JB Sense custom ROM. This is because you need to update your HBOOT with a signed (official HTC) zip that checks for your CID, and if it is not on the list it will simply not flash. The HBOOT update is needed for compatability with the new kernel I believe

It doesn't matter what cid you have to use a custom/cm10 Rom, the reason you need a matching cid for the jb/sense roms is you need to update your hboot to run them and the hboot needs a matching cid to flash
EDIT- flozzo beat me to it

So I can't flash ARHD (as it's Sense based) and my CID is not listed, but I can flash CM10 or any of the AOSP/AOKP based ROM's?

You technically can flash ARHD, but no versions higher than 9.7.2 no (9.7.2 is the latest ICS based ARHD)

You can flash ARHD or any other rom which is not a Jellybean based sense rom. The CID is only relevant to change the hboot in order to successfully flash a JB sense rom.
Thanks all for clarifying things for me.
Can anyone let me know when the One X on Telecom NZ upgrades to Jelly Bean?
I really don't want to reinstall to stock rom just to check whether it's upgraded then to find out it's not and have to revert back to present rom.
Or tell me a way to check, emailing Telecom seems to be of no use.
Thanks
I got a private message from member kskendsup saying that Telecom NZ has released the Jelly Bean update for the One X.
Can anyone else confirm this is true?
I have confirmed with HTC and with telecom also that 4.1.1 is indeed out..but there is some prob from their side and they are not accepting it...I am thrashing them as i write this reply...bcoz i called up HTC NZ and they took my IMEI and told me that i was scheduled for an update sometime at the starting of dec...so our CIDs are indeed JB but something wrong with telecom i guess...I have received mail from them and I will include that in my next post here..!!

Here is the mail reply which i received from TELECOM guys and just now i had a conversation with them and they told me that if the update is not gettin pushed then i might need to give my phone for them to check out the matter..i dont have a spare phone At the moment to give my phone but v must talk to them to solve this matter...!!
Anyways here is the mail they sent me which confirms the release
Thank you for contacting Telecom.
We have released the Jelly Bean (4.1.1) Update Last week.
New software is now available for the HTC One X. The update will add Android 4.1.1.
It will provide some feature enhancements, stability to the memory, fixes to CPU hung issue, screen blinking, can't charge, power on/off, etc.
The update will be available through HTC's FOTA (Firmware Over the Air) server. As the files are generally quite large, we suggest to connect via Wi-Fi to a Broadband connection.

Hey guys, I had a quick look through Mike1986's JellyBean Firmware collection post and I couldn't find the answer I was looking for so I was hoping you could help.
I am currently running AbsterGO v13 on my One X and I was curious to know if the build number changes with a custom rom or if it is locked to the phone like a CID?
My build number is x.xx.401.x which goes with the WWE collection, but my CID is OPTUS001 because it was an optus branded phone. I was expecting to see a x.xx.980.x which goes with the Australian Optus RUU.
Any help would be appreciated.

Well I believe my current HBOOT version is 0.43. According to my bootloader anyway. But what I would really like to know is, does the build number vary between roms? I would presume it does just unsure. From what I've seen my CID is OPTUS001 because it is optus branded, and the build number is x.xx.401.x which confuses me.

no you can't...to upgrade to JB (sense) you need a certain CID to upgrade to the latest firmware, which is needed for sense JB roms... without the right CID you are stuck on ICS... by the way you can taste JB by using cm10, AOKP, AOSP

If you do:
fastboot getvar version-main
It will tell you your original build, not the build of you current ROM. It matters.

I have looked into the AOSP and AOKP roms, but I really don't like them all that much. I get accustomed to sense, and no sense-ui frstrates me haah.
Thankyou so much Ben! That was what I was hoping to find. Turns out my build is x.xx.980.x like I thought it should have been. Now I know what RUU I need to download.
Dear Friends,
I need the link to download the RUU JB 4.2.2 Sense 5.0 Build 4.18.401.2 for HTC One X

Are you on stock rom? If so then relock bootloader and you should get OTA (not sure). If not on stock then install custom 4.2.2 sense 5 rom if you can't find ruu od nandroid. ARHD, Maximus or BugX... Or just search further... :fingers-crossed:

Because i want to get blinkfeed and original sense 5... Isn't there way for downgrading firmware? Or maybe someone has stock ROM for 1.39.709.2 (CID_621)? Or is there any custom ROM most likely to original?

I think you can't downgrade. Sorry mate. If you want to try look here for RUUs etc but I think downgrade is not possible especially with S-ON.
You can install custom roms I listed in my previous post, they all have ORIGINAL Sense 5 and Blinkfeed. Nothing to worry about
You don't have to relock bootloader to get ota.

Pick the right Nandroid from here and flash it (choose the one with the higher version main)... You'll be stock again after it and to get OTAs all you need to do is installing that Nandroid and a stock recovery which you can find in the same thread i linked previously

Any 4.x firmware will work on the latest current ROMs.
What you have is probably the latest firmware for T-Mob US; and either way it will work on the custom ROMs.

I'm not big on suggesting favorite ROMs. Everyone has their own specific preferences, needs, etc.
I've used stock Developers Edition, LeeDroid, Skydragon Sense, and currently on SROM (just flashed it last Friday). But that isn't to say others, such as InsertCoin, Viper, Etc. are not every bit as good.
Thanks man appreciate the info
