Hi guys
I heard that many people have encountered the AudioOut_4 wakelock in Jelly Beans ROM. I personally used Jelly Beans myself on RENOVATE. What I used to have is very high AudioOut_4 wakelock even when I turn off all sound!
Today I found a solution for my problem. Hope it helps u guys too!
I open Music Player, Press Play on a random song, then stop it, then Long press BACK to force close app! (don't get me wrong but I have never used the music player since I flash the new ROM)
Since then the AudioOut_4 wakelock is gone!
Hopefully this is helpful for those with high AudioOut_4 wakelock!
i solved it by removed the viber
I experienced the same problem.
Don't know what is causing it as I have totally lost track what is my last installed or updated application.
Tried reinstall it & didn't see the audioout 4 wakelock again...sounds good for first steps.
Then install 5 applications one n tried reboot as the problem can be seen immediately.
Finally, got to know it was actually caused by d viber application. Not sure whether it was my last update on around 20 Mar.
It works perfectly now after two days so far.
Please read HERE, There are many explanations and advices about all wakelocks, not only AUDIO_4

My case very sure is caused by viber after using so many tool to trace.
After trying all the versions the last working Viber without the Audio 4 in my phone is 2.3.2.61
What resolves this wakelock for me is to upgrade viber and skype to the latest version (as of today 6 August 2013).
I've had massive problems with Audio Out 4. During a 21 hour uptime, I had 2h41m of Screen On and 5h40m of Awake. Audio Out 4 had 5068 (!) wakes during that period. I have a rooted HOX+ with stock ROM, and I tried freezing the stock Music app, the stock Music widget and the stock Music enhancer a couple of minutes ago. I will get back to you with my results as soon as I have statistics.
Alright, it didn't work. Still getting thousands of wakelocks from AudioOut_4.
Same here, dunno what to do..
Sent from my HTC One S
It's not only when you play music or so...the wakelock appears too if you play games or if you have ticked system sounds or notification sounds in each app which has that option ...so even with vibration mode if you get notification the wakelock sometimes appears...disable all not necessary sounds in settings/sounds and in each app you don't need if

long story to short - 1013 is a media server process.
I'm getting the same problem, how did you solve the problem?
I am having this same issue, different device, but this is the first thread I found with the issue.
Have you been listening to music?

Had anyone figured out what this is? I have not been listening to music at all.

Media is pretty unspecified, could be pictures, videos, not just music
I have it too on my Verizon s4, just installed Google experience launcher and new search on it today, hadn't seen it before... running bone stock otherwise. 4.3.
Edit, turned off ok Google listening... haven't seen it since, at least today.

We have got the same problem with Galaxy Note 3, stock rom, rooted. At some point in the night, this *overflow* starts to keep the phone awake and uses 40% of battery in less than 3 hours.
There is no widget on any homescreen.

Better Battery Stats or Wakelock Detector will help you to figure out what app(s) are causing it.

Unfortunately Wakelock Detector doesn't show anything uncommon. I deinstalled Spotify and Quizduell Premium, rebooted the phone again - and the problem seems to be gone.
This really is strange behaviour and Android should by now be able to find out those problems by itself. This reminds me of Windows, which after over a decade still struggles with problems and you have to install tools to solve them - or reinstall the whole system.
Hi, I know this is an older thread but I've been having the same problem recently and I tried to Google a solution to the problem and found this thread. I too have had high battery drain from Google Services. The phone is basically awake at all times. GSAM Battery Monitor lists *overflow* as the main culprit.
I have location services turned off and I turned off syncing of all accounts except for Gmail. I uninstalled all updates to Google Services and any apps associated with it. I have rebooted the phone multiple times. I'm pretty sure I've tried every battery saving tip I can possibly find and nothing seems to solve the problem. Every now and then I'll get a day of amazing battery life and think my problems are behind me; then it will go back to the same terrible battery life without me changing any settings or changing the way I use the phone.

Have you tried turning mobile data and/or Wi-Fi off when not in use?
Ran a search, so some questions regarding this, but no one really had an answer.
Starting a fresh one as I now have this after two weeks of owning my S3.
I noticed my battery was draining fast, checked out stats. Media Server was using 34% of battery.
Did a search here and google search. I made sure that Poweramp was closed out, removed the headset options so it would not stay on, removed the automatic scan, etc.
Rebooted.
All my aps are closed. I do not see Media Server running in the background. It is now down to 20% usage.
I have ZERO desire moving my music off my card and putting each song on one by one (3000 song library).
Is this still a bug? Anyone come up with a good solid workaround for this? I am not rooted yet (I did not really see a need as I was super happy with the performance out of box for MY needs compared to my Epic).
My batter life was FANTASTIC until this started. Anyone else dealing with this?

I read on the poweramp forums the devs were working on having poweramp being able to play music from the google music cloud
I've a serious problem in my phone that appears after upgrading to ICS, frequently when someone calls me it gives him ring and my phone do nothing and it doesn't even shows it in the missed calls, when i tested this from my other phone the phone didn't respond until i press the standby button it starts to ring!!!, this issue always happens when the phone is on standby and when i press the standby button i noticed the signal fluctuating from 0 to full like crazy and stabilizes after a second. I'd like to say that it happens frequently not every time (once or twice daily).
i had to activate the call forwarding when not answered option to my another phone until i found any fix for this issue, i was using stock ICS then used custom and rooted rom then lite kernel and nothing changes, i used CPU tuner app to set the min CPU seed at least 750 and nothing changes, changed the sim and no changes, I didn't have this issue before when using GB.
I'm currently using this phone in Egypt with Vodafone as it is unlocked
Can any one help.
Thanks in advance
Update
i had found a new app on Google play prevent the phone from going to deep sleep called (wake my android pro), it is a free app as it allow the phone to sleep and not to deep sleep so it is not consuming battery like (wake lock) app which keeps the phone running in background and reduce battery cycle for about 40%.
i had tested it for 10 days i didn't loss calls so far
still waiting for a real fix.
How about some search?

thank you for your reply, actually i'm searching in this issue for 2 months and i see the above links before,i was looking for a real solution not workaround as the device is already draining battery and the solution will make it worse.
i was looking for a mod or a even a rom that solves this issue because GB was working fine but its too old now.
anyway thanks again
Well, I think if there were a solution, it would be posted shortly. I am not satisfied with the wake lock too, so still at GB
After updating to lollipop im getting heavy drain by media server which is named as system adsprpcd by gsam battery monitor . I never got this battery drain in kitkat .
I got this problem in every lolli rom viper sd insertcoin etc . I fixed all files and removed all corrupted files but the issue doesnt solve .
I flashed back viper kitkat rom a few days back and surprisingly kitkat battery was good as is should be no battery drain whatskever. But after comjng back to lolli rom (sd rom now ) the problem again started .
Is it lollipop software ?

I have the same problem. I have disabled Nu player from developer options but the problem occurs again.
When I notice in GSam battery that adsprpcd is beginning to drain the battery I reboot the phone and that fixes it for a while.
Does anyone know of a permanent fix?
I have been trying to find answer to this problem. I've had it on ALL lollipop Roms. Aosp, sense, and gpe. It's driving me nuts. I have figured out however that it has nothing to do with nuplayer or Google music. It's something to do with notifications.
In gsam it lists audio on for X hrs, x m, xs. Now if I send myself a text or anything that gives me a notification, that timer starts ticking. If I go back and refresh, the audio on time keeps going up for several minutes before it will stop. But if I clear notification from my notification screen the timer stops immediately. That's what's causing it to show up at the top of gsam. That's the cause. I haven't figured out a solution except clearing the notifications.
I am curious though if this isn't some issue with gsam because bbs does not show anything for that process.
Edit: here's a screenshot

Yes. I have since had to change that opinion but never updated my post since no one responded.
Do you by any chance leave your data on 3g only?
Im on LTE still with still turned off wifi but in batt history and gsam batt history is still on..

I figured as much. It's still a mystery to me. I've gotten to where I just ignore it. When I see it start showing up at the top of gsam I just reboot. I've no idea what makes it run constantly like that. I'm hoping when I update to mm soon it will go away but I'm not holding my breath
So Wi-Fi is solved.. cuz in settings is in lollipop in Wi-Fi settings default enabled Wi-Fi for location so this is solved for me.
but adsprpcd still comsupt too much batt life .. BTW WTF is audiomix?

Audio mix is something like a wakelock for when you get a notification I do believe

Same problem here. I pulled out my SD card now which I had all my mp3 songs to see if it is the reason for this wakelock. Before that the following screenshots show my situation:
I want to add also that I'm on mm 6.0 (jw version) with xposed installed.
Στάλθηκε από το HTC One M8 μου χρησιμοποιώντας Tapatalk
I also notice this on Lollipop but today I finally found what is causing this wakelock for me: notification about battery saving when I turn on Extreme battery saving. It's weird, but it's true. How I noticed it? Yesterday I read on xda that this wakelock is causing by notifications. After last night, when I always turn on extreme battery saving, I saw that adsprpcd has about 8h, what is exactly same time I was sleeping. I tested it once again: I checked how much time adsprpcd had, then turned on extreme battery saving, turned it off after a minute and again check time - it increased. Because I have Xposed I installed NotifyClean, remove notification about battery saving and repeated test, time didn't increase Adsprpcd can be caused by other notifications I think, I will examine it.
But as mentioned on xda, I don't see really impact on battery by this wakelock, because I lost 1-2% per night, when adsprpcd increase time.
hey xdamembs,
i have a really strange issue with my htc m8, unlocked since one week with custom rom.
my background snycronisation doesnt seem to work as it should again after having the rom installed for 2-3 days i dont get any messages via whatsapp, etc or mails or anything which needs a internet connection i think. it is not important if i am in the energy saving mode or not, because the same issue appears when i am plugged/docked in an have a stable wifi connection. so it doesnt seem to be related with mobile internet and the ernergysavemode, which stops background sync if you are outside and dont have wifi.
this, i will call it "obstructed" mode, appears to activate itself after 30 minutes to 2 hours after screen off and i can not find any other criteriums to need to activate it. i am using the energy saving mode a lot, but it seems not to influence my "obstruced mode"
i tried several sense roms and this always keeps happening after sometime. so for the first days it functions as it should but today it begun again with obstructing my life
as an side effect my whatsapp messages in groups which i recieve are never sorted by time, really painful to read, trust me you dont wanna try
if anyone has same issues or any clues, helps, fixing ways beside of reflashing (dirty flash???) just let it please know
my phone "setup"
rom: s.team rom latest JW-version
kernel: no custom kernel until now, but elementalx in few days
xposed moduls: amplify, networkspeedindicator, physical button music control, whatsapp tuner, xinsta
no other modificatiosn done until now
Have you tried uninstalling Amplify? It's pretty much made to suppress wakelocks and would cause the issues you describe.
