[Q] [CM 10.1] Bluetooth Variability - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Does anyone know why bluetooth functionality changes so much from build to build? I update CM10.1 about every week or couple of days and the only thing I notice change is how well bluetooth works.
I have a JVC KD-R730BT headunit in my car that has bluetooth audio and Pandora support. Some builds breaks bluetooth, sometimes I lose bluetooth Pandora functionality, once I even got music information to show up on my deck using google music, sometimes it all works fine.
I guess I'm wondering if there is a reason why bluetooth is so fragile.

[REQ] AVRCP 1.3 Bluetooth metadata

O.k. this is my first thread on XDA, gotta say...love this site! Heres my request. I have a Pioneer Z110BT nav unit in my car which supports AVRCP 1.3 to allow track and artist text to be pushed while streaming audio over bluetooth. However I think the EVO only uses version 1.0, so I'm only able to use the pause, play, stop, ff, and rewind features on the nav unit. I saw somewhere that eclair added some support for version 1.3. Is there any chance of someone getting AVRCP 1.3 working on the EVO?
AVRCP only works sometimes
Alright I'm bringing the thread back from the dead because I'm having bluetooth problems myself. The problem is my AVRCP (the bluetooth function that allows external control of songs) only works sometimes with my bluetooth car stereo (Sony Xplod MEX-BT2900 and my Sony Xplod MEX-BT2800). I get into my car with the bluetooth radio on my stereo and my phone, the phone will connect completely (media and phone), but I will not be able to control music playback function from my cd player or steerling wheel control. Then I will do a complete soft reset and the AVRCP will work flawlessly (i have complete control of playback without touching the phone). My question is why does this do this? Why does it only want to work sometimes and not others? You can see my setup below. I do have Pandora installed but I went into settings and selected Bluetooth for Automotive (OFF). I'm using music installed to my SD card through the stock htc sense 1.0 music app. I have not tried google music or anything like that. I do have tune-in radio and iheartradio installed. It has done this for a bunch of different Rom's and kernels including stock. Is the stock sense bluetooth profile garbage or what?
I don't believe its your phone I have the same issue with a Droid x 2 and the bt2900. Mine will also leave a paused message on the head unit with music playing. I believe its a Sony issue.

[Q] Cyanogen mod Bt handsfree and bt audio features don’t work if Music player paused

What caused issue: newest cyanogen mod update
After updating from CM 7.1.0-RC1 to CM 7.1.0 my Bluetooth stereo in my 2011 toyota camry (when connected) only plays the mp3 (Music) player on my EVO. If the mp3 player is paused, no audio will come through from anything on my phone. All other applications, be it handsfree phone features, streaming apps, Pandora, youtube, google maps don’t come through the stereo. If the audio player is being played, other apps’ audio can come through.
Now I know the Cyanogen team messed with the Bluetooth stereo because my car stereo now displays the mp3 track names and it never did before the update. I would gladly forgo that feature to return Bluetooth audio normalcy to the rest of the phone. Even stranger, on my dad’s 2010 Lexus es, which has an older version of Bluetooth stereo, EVERYTHING works just fine! This makes me think that this is an issue related to newer bt stereo models.
It could be a while before the Prime comes to Sprint, also could be a while until CM gets ICS working on Evo supersonic.
Please help.
I am experiencing the same problems exactly as you described with my 2010 Toyota Camry. I have only been able to get the "stock" ROM with the "stock" kernel to give me full functionality. Even with the stock rom, if I upgrade just the kernel, I get the same problem. Did you ever find a solution? I have been researching on the various forums and the internet and have not found a solution yet.

[Q] Car Bluetooth Audio Problem

I have a LG Nitro HD running on AT&T. The phone came pre-loaded with 2.3.5. The bluetooth phone part works as I can make and receive calls with my car (Suzuki Kizoshi 2010), but the audio over bluetooth doesn't work. The phone part works as I can make and receive calls. This is very important for me to be able to play the audio over bluetooth as I have a long commute to work and like to listen to my music. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank You.
It's been about a month and still no solution. Has anyone else come across this problem?
I do not have this problem. I have a Pioneer X930BT headunit in my car and my Nitro streams audio over bluetooth (A2DP) to it perfectly as well as phone calls.
Have you tried streaming Sirius or spotify over bluetooth? I found that the only app on the phone that streams audio to my car correctly is the pre-installed audio app that comes with the phone.
I can confirm google music and napster stream great over bluetooth. I have not used spotify or sirius for android.
Are you sure your car supports audio profile?
I stream spotify, tunein radio every day through bluetooth.
Spotify actually pauses when bluetooth connection is lost which is great for getting out of the car. I wish TuneIn would do it.

I have had the same problem with my nitro, it will automatically connect the phone but the media (A2DP) seems to drop automatically after connection. I've found if I manually re-connect to the receiver both will stay connected.
(settings > Wireless & Network > Bluetooth settings > *tap device name*)
I, like you, use it every time I'm in the car so it's annoying but it's a fix until there is a valid solution like a update or properly built rom.
In your case I would delete all the phone profiles from the car memory and re pair them. A lot of cars have a seperate a2dp profile for streaming music and if you pair them seperately the car stereo thinks that it needs to be paired only with the cell phone while the phone says that is paired with phone and audio.
It is not a LG Nitro 4g issue. Updates/firmware would not fix it.

That seems to be your problem JoTomlin and Kaiser. Before I installed my new headunit in my subaru I had tons of issues with my captivate playing music over bluetooth because the car had seperate profiles for A2DP and handsfree. When I got my new headunit which has a single profile containing both A2DP and handsfree it all worked without headache on the captivate and now the nitro. This is a problem with your car stereo. If its anything like my subarus, it would prefer to connect to handsfree and it would have to physically disconnect handsfree to connect A2DP (I would have to manually connect via the bluetooth menu). I solved it by getting a tunelink bluetooth audio receiver so handsfree would connect to the stereo and to the tunelink at the same time. Eventually I got tired of that and bought a new headunit.
Apparently a lot of people have swapped out their factory Kizashi factory head units for something better. But again, you'll want to bug Suzuki about something like this.
FWIW, I can stream Pandora just fine over a VW headunit with factory bluetooth. I do have to sometimes to a reconnect/pair though.
Has anyone figured out this issue? I stopped using my Nitro for about 5 months and then just recently updated it with 4.0.4, but still have the audio issue. My Samsung Galaxy SII doesn't have this issue. It's frustrating because I really like the Nitro. The Bluetooth audio is a huge issue though. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank You.

I have to unpair and repair my Bluetooth headset every single time I use it. (phone audio only). Looks like Samsung really borked up BT.
Thinking about upgrading to MDL this weekend to see if that fixes it.
i dont know about bluetooth with car, but i listen to my bluetooth headphones every day at work for hours and i have had no probs whatsoever with my bluetooth. it paired really easy like too easy and that was it.
I guess thanks for the fact that at least it works manually so in my case its a 100% software issue.
I'm having no issues with phone or media when hooked up to my car.

I have the same problem with my Denon aftermarket head unit.
My Motorola BT headset pairs ok, but the quality of the audio is so bad to my callers I can't use it. On my S3 it sounded fine. I had to switch to a different headset that's giant and stupid.

2011 Hyundai Sonata
have a jabra headset and its paired excellently 100% of the time
Had minor issues (device based) when it was "paired" to 2 devices.
Use Bluetooth Auto Connect from play store. I was having the same problem except mine connected on to media instead of phone. That app fixed it right up.
Mine will drop connection intermittently to my VW RNS-315 head unit and also drop connection to my Jawbone Icon HD. When it drops the Jawbone I often see a message on the screen that says Bluetooth Sharing has crashed. Not sure if this is as a result of the rooting process or if it's a glitch in the latest firmware. Hoping Samsung will fix and T-Mo will release patch soon.
Have yet to have an issue here with my S4 and my JVC Arsenel (Dont remember which model #, was one of the higher single DIN units a year ago though), use it daily and it connects on its own without issue / hassel both phone and media
I experience the same phone only problem with my Ford Sync system, I have to manually check Media audio, but it pairs both the first tube after unpairing. I'll try the Play Store app and report back today. I will say is nice to see voice control over bluetooth has been fixed in Jelly Bean.
UPDATE: Bluetooth Auto Connect (The first one listed in a Play Store search by Jakub Klos) works flawlessly to connect Phone and Media audio. Thanks @Sym_Link!
No problems with bluetooth here, my Pioneer radio in my Grand Marquis, both audio and phone sync flawlessly. However, my Sony unit in the Saturn, will sync the phone no problem, but I still have to manually check the box to sync with audio.
My experience w/ BT audio has been variable. I have an aftermarket head unit installed on a '05 Acura RSX (JVC-NSX1 - http://www.crutchfield.com/ISEO-rgbtcspd/p_105NSX1/JVC-KW-NSX1.html).
Note: my headunit also utilizes MirrorLink...which is just flippin' awesome.
BT Media audio seems to be very app dependent. I use Grooveshark and Play Music for my day to day listening, and I find that my Grooveshark will auto-play when BT Connects but if I'm going from a fresh power cycle of my automobile to Google Play I have to start the app on my phone prior to accessing the in-dash controls on my head unit.
Other times I can just select in dash controls and it will play Play Music.
Ironically, since the iOS 6.0 update plugging in the GF's iPhone no longer plays audio (freaking Apple). So if she wants to stream media it's only available over BT. Ah, progress!

Bluetooth will not connect media audio on first connect to car stereo (TMO)

I am having a really strange and annoying issue with my Bluetooth audio. When I connect to a headset (TWE, HS3000, etc.) or my Spark Amp, media audio works just fine, no issues at all. On every car stereo (cheap Alpine, Kenwood deck w/Apt-X, Sena motorcycle headset) that I connect to, 95% of the time, the media audio does not work. I can take and make calls, receive notifications, but music audio doesn't come through (shows that it is playing, though), and navigation audio doesn't come through. It doesn't matter what app I use (tried VLC, Amazon Music, PowerAmp, YouTube, etc.). Sometimes I hear a pop or click. The only way to get it to work is to disconnect the bluetooth, then reconnect it and then it works. I suspect it has something to do with the hands-free profile, but I cannot for the life of me figure out how to get it to work reliably. It is very tedious to have to disconnect and reconnect every time I start my car (especially if I am out running errands at multiple shops). This has been going on since the day I bought the phone.
Does anyone have any ideas?
