Hah!! Just updated my HTC HD7 to WP 7.8 with the force method. Now I feel good. But really don't know whether it's just me or not but most of my apps can not have the wide tile, just the small and medium...no wide tile meanwhile I thought Twitter just updated to wide tile but can't change that on my phone (or is the wide tile for WP8 only?) it's it like that or just me? Help.

apps must have support for wide tile... you cant have wide tile if app not support it
All is cool now, restarted the phone and all tiles with the wide capability now give me the wide tile....wasn't so at first. Thanks for your reply.

is it possible to change the size of some tiles like the Zune tile? mines currently square but ive seen a lot of rectangle ones............
I think you can make the width twice, and that's it.
how do i do it?
Yeah, but how? When editting the Zune tile, for example, I can only move it or unpin it. There doesn't seem to be an option for it to be the double width as opposed to square.
I suspect, only certain tiles, defined by MS, can be double width. eg, Pictures. BUT, I removed the XBox tile, and then put it back, and now its square and not double width.
I think that only certain tiles can be resized.
I was wondering this, I have seen it in a few reviews/publications where the Zune tile is 2 width not 1. I have no idea how to increase the size though
You can't change any of them. It's not under your control.
Earlier builds had 2-wide Zune tiles, but it's just 1 tile wide now.
And if so, what the hell does the live tile do?
It says live tile in the options but there are no notifications that I've ever seen.
Anyone care to shed light on this?

Yes I use it.
The live tile is supposed to show your profile picture and number of new messages.
love motweets but don't have live tiles turned on. My live tiles haven't worked in about a week and the only solution I have found is a hard reset which I don't to do until the nodo update (phone backup).
live tiles for moTweets for me. I see the number of mentions/dm's i get. but its pretty ugly. my 1st twitter choice is still birdsong. live tile coming soon.

The white MoTweets theme looks nice.

I think Motweet is the ugliest designed twitter app I've ever seen of a mobile phone. Beezz on the other hand is over designed (i hate landing pages just take me directly to my timeline!)
Hence the reason I use the official twitter client and Seemic
I have to agree on the moTweets being ugly comment. It has none of the feel or beauty of the metro UI. It reminds me of an iOS app.

ditto....I'm still stuck between 3 twitter apps...Rowi, birdsong and twitt....motweets is lacking the looks department greatly....
Well basically I use Twitter native which serves well.
As for MoTweets, I don't look for design - just for me, less graphics the better.
The white theme is just enough and this client has a good pictures display support plus built in browser for links.

ditto! I wish I could combine the best aspects of all three...
Motweets beats bezz which I used to use because everything is all there. The less swiping the better. That and it's faster.
Agree. I'm so over the swiping from side to side, especially with how sensitive Microsoft made the touchscreens and the inability to change the touchscreen sensitivity or threshold for pane switching. There's just no playroom there. Any app that doesn't swipe side to side is better than one that does by default to me at this point.
I would buy this app but the facebook integration doesn't work, so I think ill stick with beezz
Huh, I've enjoyed using motweets. Using just the black metro UI, it looks fine to me. And it blows the others away in functionality.

Hi guys,
I thought some of you might enjoy the Apollo theme I've created on my Omnia 7 with the help of the Screen Capture, Supreme Shourtcut and Advanced Config homebrew apps.
The only editing I've done here is replacing the people tile to protect my privacy All the pictures have been taken from my phone.
You'll notice I've sacrificed having a live Call tile. Since you get an readout of missed calls on the lock screen I didn't consider it that great a loss.
Let me know what you lot think...
EDIT: Just noticed that the screen capture for some reason hasn't captured the dark purple I have set as the home screen menu background Well anyway, that's there!
First look - messy
But then I think actually using it on a phone wouldn't be that messy.
My reaction towards this is neutral.
Takes away all of the aesthetic appeal of wp7.
I think it looks great!
Microsoft reallllllllly needs to allow more customization with colours in Apollo. In the worst way.
They need to change how notifications are displayed. The notification bar sucks right now. And i hate the fact that it disappears and there's no way to make it permanent.
So do you use Live Tiles? Does it make your screen look great? Lots of tile flipping animation? Great to have updated info available? Or do you worry about battery life and turn off all background tasks? Do you think by the time you wait for the tile to update or flip over you may as well just tap it to launch the app.

Thats a strange question. because the Windows Phone UI is all about live tiles and the battery doesnt drain if my weather app uses internet. i still can get out 24-30 31 32 hours of using my WP7, i has a really good power managment. because my wifi is on all the time, never on off, two email accounts syncing as they get emails to my phone. and WP7 is all about live tiles. and i dont think an app could be this fast as an live tile. a live tile shows you a footbal result right when you unlock your device, because it has a live tile. and so it is with 1000 of other apps. weather, stocks, calendar, email, news like WPCentral...
I'm not really sure why you're asking this question. Why would you have a Windows Phone and not use Live Tiles? That's half the reason the UI is so amazing. The difference in battery consumption using Live Tiles and not using Live Tiles is unnoticeable. My TMOUS Radar lasts a day and a half syncing 2 email accounts (using Push), and a slew of live tiles updating like TVShow, WeatherLive, King of the Sea, Words by Post, Nokia Drive, etc.
My HTC Radar is the opposite. I get around 14 hours and that is with background tasks switched off. Not sure what is going on there,
How to enable glance screen through registry edit in Lumia 730?
Lumia 730 doesn't support glance due to hardware limitations. Simply registry change not bring glance support...
No Display memory on Lumia 730.

The Lumia 730 uses just OLED (not AMOLED) which has no display memory which basically maintains information for glance screen to work like clock. Without that it would require lot of resources to work in background which may eventually drain a lot of battery even if you want to anyway.
You can use apps like TimeMe Tile where there is 'sleeping screen' which looks like glance somewhat.
