Hi my sandisk 32gb sdcard is not showing up on my phone or computer anymore it shows on my phone that it needs to be formatted and i format it from my phone but it still doesn't do anything but reply saying card is either blank or has some sort of corrupted files on it. I really need to get my file off of this card which are extremely important so please if you can help me.
You can teach us all something if your sdcard is fixed, but your chances of recovering that sdcard are not very good. If you formatted it already from the phone, then your files are already gone.
Just some advice, but next time if you don't already, why don't you just backup your sdcard to your computer, or an online backup, at least once a week in order to keep a backup copy of your key files? It's so easy to do. Too many of us do not take it seriously until something happens.

I've been having this problem for a while now--first with my Nexus one, and now with my Evo. The problem is simply that I cannot restore from a nandroid backup. I always get the error telling me to "nandroid-mobile.sh restore via adb". When I try from adb, it tells me it can't mount /sdcard.
Has anyone else run into that issue? I've all but given up on the idea of nandroid backups and restores. Not once has it ever worked for me.... It's causing a lot of headaches when I switch back-and-forth between ROMs.
Any help is appreciated!

make sure your battery is above 30%, it wont do a restore if the battery is below 30%
I've actually searched everywhere I know to search, and I was already aware of that. I've got 4 batteries, and I've tried all of them, each at 90-100% charge....

Have you renamed the backups? If you use a space when naming it, it will give that error also
No. I've never renamed anything. No spaces at all.

I'm not sure what else could be causing it then =/ The only two times I have ever gotten that message was for one of those two reasons.
Are there any special requirements for the sdcard? I've been using this card for a while, and it works for everything else--flashing roms, music, titanium backups, etc. Does it have to be formatted by the phone?
There has to be something I'm missing... Thanks again.

It could be the sdcard if you're using an older one from an old phone. Try using the one that came with the evo and see if it works, if it does then you know it's the card. You should also have a folder that was made named nandroid and the backup should be inside of another folder in there. something like /sdcard/nandroid/HT0serialnumber/whatever_backup
I do have the folder and the backup files. I'll try a different SD card in the morning. I have to be up in 6 hours, so I'll have to pick up where I left off tomorrow. Thanks for the suggestion. I'll post my findings back here when I'm done.
I don't know if this helps, but I have received that error when I tried to backup with the option "nand + ext." when I did not have a partitioned SD card.
I suspect that it is looking for "nandroid-mobile.sh" in the partition that did not exist on my card.
So... It sounds like it is a card problem, but if you have had trouble with other phones/cards you may be asking it to do something requiring a partitioned card when you have not partitioned it.
Edit: There might be something here forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=621940 (You'll have to add the beginning part of the link)
Thanks for the help, everyone. The problem is apparently my (Sandisk 16GB) SD card. Just for kicks, I backed it up, formatted, and tried again with nothing on the card but the backups. Still didn't work.
I did the same thing with the (Samsung 8GB) card that came with the phone, put the backups on it, and it worked like a charm!
The bad news is that I ordered a 32GB Sandisk card that will be arriving today. I'm going to be VERY disappointed if that one doesn't work for me....
My nephew tried to root his A100 and somehow ending up where now all he gets is the "recovery verified failed-spin forever" message. I have done some research on this forum and others and I am seeing some updates and such to put on the SD card to try and reboot the tablet to its factory settings. My problem is this-how do I access the SD card if the tablet won't boot? When I connect the USB to my laptop it doesnt recognize the mount(or whatever you call it) so I am unable to read or transfer files to the SD card.
I am using a blank SD card since he didnt have an external card of his own. So I guess my question is this-is there any way to read the SD card via USB that I am missing, or do I have to place the files from my laptop to the SD card directly, and then replace the SD card in his tablet(I hope this all makes sense!) Also, when it says to put the update.zip on the SD card, it is the whole zip file or the folder within?
Thanks so much for your patience. Im trying to save my nephews rear end because his mom is pretty mad he screwed up a new tablet that she spent good money for.

Was he running ICS or HC? Is he able to boot into recovery (most likely not, but that is needed to flash the ICS update)? See if he can remember what he did. You could place the sd card in a card reader and send the file directly to it. Yes, you place the entire zip file on the sd card (do not extract it).
Ask him which thread/method he tried to use. That should help figure out wat he was messing around with in the first place

Ok thank you guys very much. I will call him tomorrow and find out what he did(or tried to do). Appreciate your help.
Ok...so he's not sure exactly what he did because he is saying his friend did it haha. I asked him to call his friend, but the friend was a kid he met at the skatepark and he doesnt know where he lives...hmmm... anyhoo, where does that leave me?
I put the zip file on my SD card from my phone and put it into the tablet, did the power on/volume up trick and got the same "spin forever" message. If anyone can walk me through another process I am open to putting in the time.
My next move(or last one) would be to call Acer and plead my nephew's case and hope they would honor the warranty(but then I would have to lend my nephew the money to ship the tablet back and forth haha because his mom won't pay for it!)
Again, thank you so much.

Did you try resetting it? This may be quite crazy but, you could try unlocking the bootloader, flashing a recovery, then flashing a rom.
Sometimes people rename the file and add an extra "zip" and that gives the error you describe. Take the file onto your computer (I am using Windows, and do not know Linux) right click and rename the file "update". Do not add zip.
Try that.
or they tried the acer recovery app from the market and borked the stock recovery. if thats the case youll have to find the thread crossix has the original files on and follow his instructions.

That could be the issue, but the method crossix gave to fix it requires it to be done through the terminal (so the device needs to be booted up for it to be done).
The zip file is named correctly(not with an additional .zip)..When you say to flash, I'm not sure what that means. Does that mean putting the files on the SD card through my computer? Also, yes, I did try resetting it and same result. I have submitted a service ticket to Acer waiting to hear back. Thanks for all your input, sorry to be such a noob..

No. To flash the file, you just need to place it on your external sd card, then boot into recovery (it seems like your's is corrupted though).
I ended up sending the Tablet in for service. Fingers crossed that will fix it free of charge under the warranty! Thanks again for everyone's help!
Im sorry, i know this topic has come up a thousand timed but i still have found no solid answer. I am on Wicked rom right now. I went into recovery to flash the new rom but team recovery wont show the zip files on my sd card. After trying some other things and different sd cards in many different sizes and classes,( formated in every ay by phone and computer) now i have noticed nothing including root explorer wont see zip files. sometimes it will show pictures or music but not usually. usually the phone wont even see the card at all. I have heard everything from reformat to the springs that hold the card are worn and need to be bent back to class 10 (which is what I used since i got it) wont work with the s3 to 64 gigs wont work.I should also mention that TWRP wont let me so anything at all. It wont back up rom weather its on internal or external and usually it wont even let me go to external when i try to change it. I don't have enough room on the phone to back up with titanium and TWRP wont t me do a back up either, I am basically stuck on he rom in on with no sd card capabilities. My phone is starting to act up and I really need a new rom ( not that I dont love the Wicked rom) and also get rid of the bugs i'm starting to get. I know this sounds confusing and Im not sure how well I did explaining it but I could really use some help. I have no problem if it would be easier to explain in person if you think you know whats going on or how to fix it you can IM me and I will give you my phone number so we can talk in person. I would really appreciate any help and I will be sure to hit "thanks"

HMMM try another sd card if you can. I had a similar issue and thought that my phone screwed up but it wasnt my phone it was my sd card. if you dont have another sd card try the one that wont work in the computer and see if your computer reads it.

I have tried a 2 gig 4, 8, 26, 32, and 64, brand new ones, ones I have used to phone to try to reformat, also tried windows 7 to reformat and also Ubuntu partition editor. it seems no matter what I do it just wont see an sd card. every great once and a while it will let me see the pics and music but that it, no Titanium, no recoveries, and especially no zip files with roms. it wont even let me create a nandroid and the ones I have it wont let me get to, I feel like im stuck on this rom with no external mem.
OK seems like you may need a warranty exchange if you have insurance. OK On this phone I noticed that new cwm recovery do nandroid backups on the internal memory. So if you can still mount that to the PC. Put your SD card with an attachment to your PC. Move the backup you made from clockworkmod folder to the clockworkmod in internal memory. If you don't have that folder on internal memory. Moved it all. Newest cwm u can restore a back from internal memory. And there you have it. But if it still can't seem to read the SD card. You may need to have another phone or repair that one.

I use TWRP but with them too you can use either the internal or external. The problem is when I try to put a backup on either on it fails every time. Im gonna to have to just use my warranty and get a new one t looks like. Whats going to happen when they see the phone is rooted, Maybe I should just say I lost it because I would still like to keep the phone in case one day I get really bored and tear it apart (im an electronics tech) and see if I can fix it. IDK, if anyone has any advise I appreciate it. And thanks Gypsy
Thats a lot of money for a lost fee. It would be a lot better if you can brick it. They wouldn't know lol I had done warranty exchanged before with a htc phone with s-off and they never said a thing

Hello everyone! I have a problem with my 8gb adata microsd card. It won't format. I tried formatting it before, but wouldn't do anything, and the program I was using wasn't responding, so I just took it out(Bad idea, I know). Now it won't format or do anything, all it does is show up. It has some weird files inside the microSD that I can't delete/move/etc. Help please?
It might be toast. There are some specific programs, that will let you pull the data off a bad card. You may need to find one and save what you want. Then put it in a new sd card. I wouldn't trust that one, even if you did fix it.

Not sure what program you tried to format it with.
Try this https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/5220128/SDFormatterv3.0.zip
have you tried formatting from the phone? That's usually how I format my cards.
I agree, if you pulled the phone or card while trying to format on your PC, you probably messed the file tables. It's going to be hit and miss on recovering your information. I don't think you'll find a program on Android to do, but maybe on the PC. Look for the ones that do it for crashed HDD or post formatted. You may be get lucky if the information didn't get written over and it's just the tables that are bad.
Hi everyone,
I have a 64gb sandisk microsd external card, in a att galaxy s3 and it appears to be acting very strange.
i can't add or delete anything from it, i put it in my brothers galaxy s2 to format it (my s3 not having the option(which is strange)) and it let me format it, but when it remounts its at the exact same place, with 42.2gb free storage space, which is what it was at before i formatted it, i did it a few times same thing.
if i manually try to delete things from the card through my phone or computer they either hang or they do delete then upon reboot all the files are back. I hope its not corrupted but it sounds like it is. i've used a few apps like sd tools which runs speed tests, and i get about 130mb write speed a second and 5000mb read speed a second which sounds like it should be able to read and write things but unfortunately it just won't
any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hmm. You might have to try a double format in TWRP, then when you load up the System use the system's format tool. (i.e. Storage --> Wipe SD Card). If that doesn't work, you might need to find someone with a microsd to USB jig or something of the sort and use a computer to format it.

yeah thanks for the support, tried a number of things in twrp but to no avail. i went out and bought another 64gb microsd card and put it in my phone, works perfectly. but still i'm trying to get the other card working. the new card came with an adapter so i've been trying to format it in my computer. i've used windows format, i do the long one, it gets all the way to the end looks like its complete then says unable to format. and all teh data is still there, i've also tried guiformat by ridgecrop, says success but still all the information is still there.
i don't know if this means the card is corrupt i'd always assumed i'd get corruption error messages.
is there a program i can use to scan the card for errors or corruption?
thanks again dude for the responses any additional help will be very much appreciated still.
again thanks.
solution sorta found
