Facebook and Instagram

These two apps worked perfectly fine before. Then, we had technician come over and replace our router due to some problems it was having. Ever since then, I have been unable to use these two apps over WiFi, but they work when I'm outside using data. I would point a finger directly at the internet being a problem, but my aunt is able to use both of these apps on her Rezound without a problem whereas my Nexus 7 and GS4 are unable to use them. The apps open but I am unable to refresh, view anything in my news feed, etc. I tried reinstalling both of the apps and they still didnt work. I flashed different roms and they still dont work. Does anyone have any idea why this is happening?

try to specify fresh static ip to this device and see. Don't use the ip address that the device is currently using.

Settings - Wi-Fi - tap & hold on your network - Modify network config - Check under 'IP settings'. It's probably set to DHCP. Set it to static, hit save, then go back in and change it back to DHCP.
I'd try the same steps above except instead of selecting Modify network config, click forget. Hit the scan button and rejoin your network.

Hmm, try giving yourself a static IP if you're using DHCP currently:
Settings
Wi-Fi
tap & hold on your network
Modify network config
Check Show advanced options
scroll to the bottom and note the value for ip address
change IP settings to Static
Everything should be filled out for you already. Change the last number in your IP address to a random number between 2-254, higher the safer.
If it doesn't help, change it back to DHCP.

Last thing I could think of, because it sounds network related if you can get there OTA...can you get to Facebook.com or instagram.com in your phone's browser?

For some reason, my Internet messed up last night and did not allow me to use wifi until now. Both the Facebook and Instagram apps are working oddly but if it happens again, I'll be sure to try this. Thanks for the help!
Edit: I forgot to add.. I tried FriendCaster (which is basically another fb app) and it worked perfectly fine while the Facebook app did not. I have no clue why.

Please help no blue WiFi bar

Hi all
As I am typing this my WiFi meter has lost its blue nature which is like android way of showing that the WiFi network has internet access.
Now mine is no longer blue, its constantly white which means Google play store will refuse to load cause it checks that even though I have internet access as I am sending this to you from my nexus 7.

Nothing there fixed it but I did post my problem there, mine is a very unusual one cause I can still access the internet using Wi-Fi on my tablet but Google services like play don't work

Did you try another WiFi hotspot?
If it works anywhere else, it's a router issue.
You could try rebooting the router to see if that helps.

Ended up reinstalling the stock ROM, that fixed it but now I have discovered another issue, I can't install the stock bootloader for jss15R I have used adb to push the image to the recovery partition and adb says it has installed but when I try enter recovery I still see a dead android. What I am trying to do is run my tablet rooted with stock recovery so that I can receive otas. Currently I am running twrp recovery which does flash using adb and an unlocked bootloader. I might make a new thread if it is a big issue but if its a small fix I'm missing then I would rather not put it in the forums

The WiFi button usually turns blue in about one minute for me, yes I have the problem but it seems to go away, I am sure that there needs to be a software update. Sometimes having to restart the router or turning the WiFi off and on solves many problems....

[Q] Internet problem

Hey folks,
I'm having some problems with my note 2 GT N7100, I can't connect to the internet, my mobile data is active though it's not working, it works only with whatsapp, then my wifi won't connect, it keeps saying "Obtaining IP adress" and nothing happens after, and yes I am rooted and I guess my problem is because of a root app.
More infos on the attachements, it would be great if someone could help me solve this problem.

Well I made a hard reset and installed a new firmware, now it's working fine, it's just that Google Play stopped working.. I'm getting the 500 error while trying to download any app. I guess my phone is not feeling good these days.

Custom firmware? Maybe try reinstalling gapps again. It seems to solve most of my Google play issues.

No, the official Samsung's 4.1.2 firmware, well I have solved the problem, it has nothing to do with deleting Google Play's cache or deleting Dalvik cache or whatever, since I am rooted and I have Xposed installer, I used to use Hack connectivity module and it seems that it was blocking my wifi access so just by deleting it everything went good. Lucky me. Thanks bro for your help.

Ehrpd data problems

Hi guys. I've been having issues accessing websites when I'm on ehrpd 3g. Sometimes the Google search site will not fully load when on ehrpd. Same with espn and other sites.
I can't even get a Google search to work.
However, other apps will access data fine...
These sites load just fine on 1x, evdo, 4g, and wifi.... Just not ehrpd.
I've tried to flash to stock, hands free activate, prl update, tried different prls etc.... I even tried different browsers... None of it works.
I'm running on Aosp carbon Rom and I've tried different Aosp Rom still no go.
The second line on my account has an evo 4g lte and there is no issues there while on ehrpd.
Anyone have an idea of what's wrong?

It's pretty sad... I have to use Bing.com for searches instead of Google while on ehrpd.
Yahoo doesn't work properly either.

I have the same issue, some apps (Chrome, Google Now, Pandora login, Google Play to name a few) don't transmit data on 3g, but work on everything else. I have tried all kinds of thing (PRL update, reactivation, clean flashes, Network/APN selections), nothing... Seems isolated to CDMA? Would love to find a solution, it has been happening for a long time now.
For a workaround... in a pinch, I have found that Dolphin browser always seems to work, so I don't have to resort to Bing

Thanks for the tip on Dolphin browser. It does work for me on 3g ehrpd. Hopefully someone can help us out... I've tried to ask this question in the cm10.2 forums and no replies yet.

OK it's even more odd. If I sign into my Google account in Chrome or Dolphin browser Web pages like Google and Google searches do not work.
If I log out of Google and try a Google search, the search will work

can you grab a log of it working and one of it not working? Wondering if its a cache or timeout problem.

I sent you a PM with the logcats.
I want to add that I've tried to wipe system, data, davlik and cache, installed an AOSP rom (carbon rom) and I still have the 3G issues. It seems to be only there when I am logged into my Google account on my phone. If I remove my Google account, then I can access Google searches without an issue.
Let me know if you need anything else.

OK add the Amazon app to the list of apps that don't work for me on ehrpd. I can view the main app page but when I go to view my existing orders, it will just time out.

Without going through a ton of explaining why. It could be a handoff issue.
have you tried
set your phone to CDMA Only and make sure that WiFi is also turned off.
Try it then and see what happens..

In CM10.2, I tried CDMA only with WiFi off and I would only get 1x data. With 1x data I have no issues (except data speed of course).

I'm not seeing anything that jumps out as to what the issue is. Its still happening?

Yeah on cm10.2. But with your cm11 build, the issue is gone... However on cm11 I have issues connecting to 3g in evdo Rev a.... Everything else works.

I have this as well, its been driving me crazy.

Okay here is how I fixed this strange problem. I had to reflash the ROM without gapps and then after booting up once I reflashed the gapps and all was good.

I know it sucks. Use paranoid android 4.4. It works battery life is good. Some glitches here and there but not much.

Wifi Problems

Hey guys.
I have a completely stock phone and I'm having issues with the wifi. When I'm on wifi there are times when the internet does not work at all. This is with apps and also browsers. For example, Facebook and Instagram will try to refresh but nothing comes through. Then a few minutes later it works just fine. A few minutes after that, nothing.
4g internet always works just fine. When I use other devices, such as my laptop, internet works just fine.
I've tried messing with the router settings, using different channels, etc., but there is no improvement.
Am I losing my mind? Am I imagining things? Any suggestions?

Try a custom kernel with advanced TCP congestion options and change it out. I like Illinois...
