From what you posted, I think your battery needs replacement

Maybe you have only to calibrate your battery, but often after two years batteries must be changed.
Answering to your question, I am using LordModUE 8.9b7 kernel on the CM 7.2.0 and battery life has never been so good!

1) "Best rom"-Threads are not wanted (see Guide sticky in General section)
2) Your problem is surely NOT rom-related

Hey XDA community I have been having problems with battery life on my Desire ever since I put the Starburst rom on it. I searched a solution to this on google and came across "kernels". I know how to install them but well I dont know which ones are considered good or bad and such. Could anyone make a suggestion to me?
I am running version 1.3.3.5 of Starburst
My kernel according to the software info screen on my desire is as follows:
2.6.32.15 - froyo _ bravo _ V 5 root @ alhena #9
Unless the entire StareBurst rom thread is filled with battery life problems it's not kernel related. Probably a bad app/setting or you imagening battery issues.

I dont think I am imagining it, you see on the Default software my phone was capable of a day to a day and a half.
Now on starburst its laggier and the battery just runs down. In 15 minutes of standby the battery ran down 2% just doing nothing. (I have a class 4 8gb Kingston SD)
Now, im not saying it is nothing I did but still a helpful comment or suggestion would be appreictaed as opposed to an acusation of imagining things.
I answered your question and gave two other options. From there searching will help you. It's not the first question about battery issues.

Sorry, I didn't think that reply through as I was rushed. I will try searching some more and checking my apps for battery drain issues.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
Battery drains really fast, done a battery calibration but nothing, phone is only a year old ish and when its on charge it sometimes says full when its lower than 100% see picture below.
I had the same problem with charging.I charged it few times when it was turned off and now it is back to normal to 100% fully charged. About the drain issue try different kernel if you are using a custom rom!

Just switched to MildWild CM-2.8 and its charging fine, recommend a different kernel even with this rom ?
I had a mildwild rom for about a month and battery life was great but if it still drains you can try ManU kernel! I didn't try it but people say it's great!

No, not on oxygen derivatives. Uses different camera drivers so that doesn't work, but think other things won't either. Have to stick with the _thalamus kernels, which I believe are pretty good too. Same .35 base?

It could be that theres a bunch of apps running in the background?
Without a process manager I find my battery doesn't last as long.

You are right! My mistake
i use task killer and let apps close when screen is off, dont use any apps though really just facebook really. Using nighty 258 now battery seems better but have to data Wi-Fi is a killer :/ last about 5 hours with wi-fi on, having mobile data on is just as bad.
One shouldn't use a task killer app with Android. It does more bad than good, in terms of battery life.

Agree with you.
Try doing 'wipe battery status' via recovery.

You shouldn't.
In my opinion it is only necessary if you charged the phone during flashing a new rom or you had it at power supply. So the Phone learns what is full and empty so it can use the full capacity of the battery

I think your opinion matters little next to the Hackborne's
Nexus battery calibrator does one thing, and wiping battery stats does another. Maybe doesn't sounds better.

Hello,
Just pre ordered today! Are you going to run a ROM? If so which ROM suits best for this device. Just curious.
none of them, because you have to read the instructions and the rest of the posts in each thread to be sure you want to install it. =]
definitely stay on HTC factory, but check for updates in the settings.
Arhd

Why don't you stay with the stock ROM and just root it?I have a stock 1.28 on it and root and that is more than enough for me.If you want a custom ROM i recommend the ARHD (Android Revolution HD).

Agreed. It's close to stock but with some great tweaks and optional mods. Not to mention support from a skilled developer.

Im using InsertCoin and loving it. But am considering going to ArHD
HTC 1 X
I believe that using the standard ROM is the way to go, just unlock the bootloader and root your phone and that is all that is needed really. I used to change the Rom on my HD2 all the time and also ran ICS but this phone runs smoother on the stock rom.
leedroid
Leedroid v.4.0 awesome!
Thanks for the feedback!
I think I want to give ARHD a try.
The best ROM is whichever one you want.
Heard that arhd has better battery life with more than 6hr on screen time.

No one is getting 6 hours of on screen time with this phone, I don't think. I see some people get 4 or so, but they can't be doing much with the phones then. Also, that's probably with real low brightness.
what are the chances of it getting bricked?
Yea the one best for me won't be the best for u..
I tried insertcoin, leedroid, JDroid, but didn't convince me..
Right now I'm on VillainRom and to me it's the best..
Keep tryin and eventually u'l find out what works for u..
Don't go by the number of views/ comments..

Won't we get more on screen time on custom Rom as most of the software were tweaked and removed for better performance which will eventually increase battery life.

Thanks,
I have the same radio so I don't know ????
Maybe it's related to my kernel version? I'm having 2.6.35.14
your cell phone battery must be the copy version, so you need to buy the original battery at normal website or store, but please pay attention tp some owners on Ebay or Amazon, because many of them just cheat customer using refurbishment battery.

Where did you get that radio ? Is it stable ?
I'm currently using this one: 26.14.04.28_M
I've recently flash JellyTime, I come from CM7.2, and I'm not fully satisfied with my battery life (compared to CM7.2+LordModUE kernel)
EDIT: ok, you mentionned your RIL and not your radio... So I guess I'm already using the last one.

There are two many factors (so I've read) to recommend any one single radio. Even if we lived in the same area, it may not work the same. The general recommendation is after flashing a radio is to use it for a few days to see how it performs.

If the right radio and mix of auto-sync settings isn't working, try looking for a new battery for the phone. After I replaced my stock HTC battery, my phone lasted a lot longer. Make sure to get a good battery though, not the 5 dollar ones. A good one will cost $15-20
