I just went back to stock ICS tonight as well and have me found in the same situation, to fix it all you need is to dowload the lights.n1.so - BLN.zip from here ---> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2067954
unzip it cause its not a flashable zip for some reason, transfer the lights.n1.so file you got from the zip to your sdcard, use any root enabled file explorer (i use rootbrowser lite myself) and copy the file to this directory --> system/lib/hw and paste it there, it should ask you to overwrite (back up the original file just in case) select yes and reboot. After that check the BLN app and you sould be able to activate it now :good: activate it and deactivated a couple time just in case lol it worked for me. Hope it helps.

Thanks
Thank you worked like a charm.

Install zip-files

On my rooted Defy - how do I install a zip-file??
Like this one;
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=12426274&postcount=24
install the 2ndinit apk 1.4.2 newer ones wont work with some files
then reboot 2 times.
third reboot: press volume down, when the led is blue.
now choose recovery by pressin vol up or down and power to accept.
then choose costum recovery, and apply zip from sd. choose your file and confirm.
done
hope this answers your question
Thanks, seems simple enough
uh, where do I find 2ndinit.apk
You can find it here.
I know how to install .zip but I have a question. CWM3.1 does not flash some .zip like a baseband or a theme. It says "aborted". I think that the problem is that the file is not signed or something. In CWM2.5.1.8 works but the problem is that CM7 or MIUI changes it to CWM3. So, what should I do?
Thanks!
Works fine, even the mentioned zip-file!
The "issue" is that the latest CWM3.x no longer support "amend scripting" (stored in update-script) and won't apply zip's created with such scripts. Therefore all .zip which where written using the old method should be converted to edify scripting (which use different statements - more details here-).
is there an way to downgrade the 2ndinit? an how-to would be very nice
You can replace the recovery file from /system/bootmenu/recovery/sbin with the one from 2nd init 1.4.2 . The file persimmon should be rwxr-xr-x (755).

and how do i do that? with rootexplorer? what for do i need the file permission? to change it or to set it after changing the files?
Yup. You can replace it using an app like root explorer. And the file permission should be set up after you copy the file (if you have the wrong file permission it won't work).
EDIT: I haven't tried yet to downgrade it this way but that's what I've read on the forum, therefore I cannot guarantee you it will work.
sry for me being a noob. i found the file named recovery in the folder you mentioned. but have got only the file 2ndinit.apk..... where do i get the recovery file from 2ndinit.apk ?
thank you for your time!
You can unpack it using a tool like Apk Manager 4.9 or simply by using 7zip to extract the files from the apk which is in fact some sort of archive. However as I've mentioned in the previous post I didn't tried to downgrade using this method. All I can say is that I've read here on xda about this method, therefore I cannot guarantee you this will work. I think is better to wait someone with more experience to answer.
As an unexperienced user i think i'll wait for a better solution.
As i read, this problem appears quite often, how come that nobody tried to make a solution for this problem?

[Guide][zip][Root needed] Unsimlock your Defy (v1.3)[NEW:JB support!]

This is a software unlock for the Motorola Defy
NEW: Jelly Bean roms and ICS roms work!
See the troubleshooting post (post N°2) if you have problems!
Last update: 06/06/2012 ->Troubleshooting section updated (see post 2)
Disclaimer: This manipulation is not risk free. Niether I nor XDA Developpers can be held responsible for damage made upon your phone. Thus, don’t worry we're doing good work and you'll do a backup
Root is needed!
Credits go to yakk from motofan.ru / Special thanks to Labsin for his involvement and help
Note: Not all Baseband versions work with this hack, to know if it will work for you, go to settings-> system info and check if baseband version is "EPU93_U_00.59.01". If it is not indicated there, then try installing defybaseband switcher and look at info in the app
If your baseband version is different, you can try to change it to the one that works (nandroid backup first ) by downloading Baseband_change(EPU93_U_00.59.01).zip, and putting it in /sdcard/, and flashing it via recovery.
Flashing a zip has never been easier
Thanks to labsin, there's an easy flashable.zip that will:
Backup your original two files and put them in the folder "simlock_original_files" on your SD card (safety first )
Apply a modification to init.mapphone_umts.rc
Copy the fixed bp_ptc file
Go into recovery, flash Softunlock_defy_v1.1.zip that fits your baseband version and you're done!

!!YOU MUST REBOOT ONCE AFTER THE OPERATION BEFORE CHANGING SIMS!!
Voila!
Don't forget to reboot phone once!
Only then you can test by rebooting with another simcard
Hit thanks button if i helped you!
Any problems? I'm here to help
Changelog
v1.3:
ICS ROMs are now fully supported!
v1.2:
zip will check if the line to be added already exists, so it doesn't get added more than once
v1.1:
automated zip that will add a line in mapphone_umts and copy fixed pt_ptc in system
Troubleshooting
I have no signal when i put another simcard in my Defy
Have you rebooted at least once BEFORE changing sim cards??Try using Defybaseband switcher to select the correct frequencies for your carrierTry method below
You are still asked the unlock code
- Turn on Airplane Mode
- Run Terminal emulator and type "su" and then "bp_ptc"
- Turn ofr Airplane Mode
Airplane mode won't turn off
Flash the baseband(EPU.0.59..) file in the first post, then play around with your APNs and network settings untill you fix it (see post 308)
You are having trouble unlocking a stock ROM
See Post 260
Proof of success

Holy mother of Jesus, I could unsimlock my defy+ (plus) . Here is what i did (i think some steps could be ignored but is good to know the entire procedure i've done)
1) Because of a failed CM7 flash, first I flashed a 2.3.5 SBF
2) Flashed quarkx 26-feb nightly for defy+ (baseband EPU93_U_00.60.00)
3) Changed to a proper baseband with defy-baseband-switcher v4.0
3) Changed to baseband EPU_U_00.59.01 following steps mentioned in 1st page
4) Flashed softunlock 1.2 for EPU_U_00.59.01
5) Rebooted (still no sim change till this step)
6) Power off the phone and changed SIM
7) Rebooted
8) Almost had an orgasm
I'll be posting links i used later if somebody ask for them
Thanks to all people directly and indirectly involved (very special thanks to crakeron for his help)

It should just copy the appropriate files and set the right permissions.

I admit: I haven't tried this yet, but I did noticed that the OP says to replace init.mapphone_umts.rc to: /system/bootmenu/2nd-init/ and that your patch copies it to: /system/bootmenu/2nd-boot/ folder...
I'm could be wrong on this, but I believe that most people use 2nd-init boot by default (I've only used 2nd-boot while having ICS as dual boot before). But again; I'm just guessing here and could be totally wrong and it might make no difference...
Cheers, and btw, thanks for teaching me how to backup files [with a zip patch]

Hello, the file /system/bootmenu/2nd-init/init.mapphone_umts.rc provided did not work for me. It did not detect any SIM card.
So I edited the original file to defy me and I added the line "service bp-ptc /system/bin/bp_ptc" around line 194 (This can change depending on your file) after the line "user root" in the section "# Adb over Network"
After the copy on my smartphone with correct permissions, it worked.
If it can help

[Q] Sky go - pls help

Hi,
I'm hoping somebody can simplify what it is I need to do to get sky go working on my desire.
I've have been reading through the sky go thread and spreadsheet etc but I'm still not clear if it is at is possible to get this app working on my current configuration. I have worked out that I need version 1.5 of gumbalds apk and voodoo ota to hide root but I'm not clear on the kernal bit (if/what I need to do). Hopefully somebody can simplify the steps needed?
My current set up is
Software : Cool Droid v3 gsm
Android version: 2.3.4
Kernal: 2.6.35.14-gingercakes-0.9-avs
Many thanks
ok thanks for your help everybody. Here is what I did to get skygo working on my desire. I think the key is to have a ROM based on an official HTC release and then update the boot.img as per the post at the top of this page
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...06967&page=174
So the steps I followed:-
1. Make sure my desire is flashed with a Rom based on an official HTC release. I used Cool Droid v3 gsm but it should work with others
2. I then made a nandroid backup of my Rom
3. As per the above link I then downloaded, installed and research how to use the kitchen app.
4. I then connected my phone to pc and copied my system and boot.img files from my clockworkmod backup folder to the relevant kitchen folder on my pc.
5. Using the kitchen app I then made a working copy of my Rom.(this took a while to process) 6. Then from the kitchen advanced menu I unpacked my boot.img this then create a new temporaryfolder on my pc with all the files
7. In Windows explorer I then found the default.prop file and opened it in notepad
8. I updated a line in this file from ro.secure=0 to ro.secure=1 and saved.
9. I went back into the kitchen app and repacked my boot image.
10. In kitchen I then created a rom from the working folder (im was going to flash the Rom but got inpatient)
11. Using explorer I then located the boot.img and copied just this file back to my clockwork backup folder on my phone
12. I then did a restore from recovery in my phone. I got a warning at this point (something about md5um not matching) and I continued with restore.
13. I then hid root using voodoo ota root keeper and checked skygo and whoop whoop all was good
I'm not sure this will work for everyone but it worked for me and I made sure I created copies of my backup files just in case it didn't work...
If anybody requires any further clarity please shout.

Code:
adb shell
2.
Code:
su
3.
Code:
mount -o remount,rw -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock11 /system

5. Then use volume keys to navigate and power button to select option. Select install zip from sdcard, then select XT320_bootmenuV2.zip and select yes to install the zip file
6. Then reboot device by selecting reboot device now.
CWM 6 has a bug where it asks you to 'disable recovery flash' when you select reboot system now make sure you select NO or you will soft brick your device.
Changelog:
-v2 No need to mount /sdcard in CWM Recovery. Fixed TWRP installation issues.
-v2.0.1 Released an .exe version of script, to simplify installation
-v2.0.1.1 Fixed bootmenu.zip

The root process worked for me. Now i can install link2sd and set up a swap partition.
I cant install TWRP and i think the reason is that the bat was having some problem to send that bootmenu.tar file to my sd card. I tried to send that file myself before starting the entire process and it didnt worked.
I took a picture of the error i'm getting . Thank you again, i was really mad about that low internal space xD

Ok, I've made a fixed script here. The error was that the sdcard is a directory so it will refuse to push files into it.
Here's the updated script below. Just put the .bat file in the same place as the other files.
Thanks

Btw, my gsm network wasnt working after the root process. If the same thing happens to someone else, just do a master reset and it will work again.

I tried to do myself the commands using the adb interface and when i use the command to intall the tar, i got the message 'tar: no space left on device" . I hope you can help me with that and i'm sorry about all this questions xD .

Yes but it sometimes gets unstable so you should overclock to 700MHz which is the highest I got without reboots. pll2_l_val=73 gives you 700MHz.

6. Extract the AP from stock FW, copy it to a temp folder on your internal SD
7. Patch in Magisk Manager the AP
8. Copy the patched AP to your PC and replace the recovery.img inside the AP with the patched TWRP from point 4. Rename the patched TWRP to recovery.img before replacing it into the patched AP
9. Open Odin 3.13.1 or 3.13.3 and fill all slots with: patched AP, BL, CP and HOME_CSC. Uncheck the automatic restart and start flashing.
10. Once flashing completed, long press VOL DOWN + POWER until screen becomes black. IMEDIATELY the screen gets black, press VOL UP + BIXBY + POWER BUTTON to enter to TWRP recovery.
11. Once in TWRP, flash the Multidisabler v1.6 and right after flash BeyondROM v5.8 No need to reboot in between.
12. After flashing the ROM zip, save the aroma log, go back to TWRP root menu and select Reboot --> Recovery
13. Wait for the boot up (5-7 minutes) and setup your ROM to your liking
14. Enjoy the release of BeyondROM
Advises
1. Clean install if you have issues with dirty flash; don't start flashing BR5 without a twrp backup of your existing rom
2. If you have flashing issues: check rom zip MD5 hash
3. If you consider that the moded services are the culprit for your SnapChat ban, use stock services.jar provided in the download folder
4. If you like my work, consider buying me a coffee (PayPal link)

They're the same thing. It's just the way your phone is reporting the connection.

You have to choose it in the aroma. You may well have missed the option and a dirty flash will fix it.

Wow July update. !!!

Installed. So far working fine. Thanks OP.
how can I install TWRP for Galaxy S10+
and kernel?
tried this at least half a dozen times and get stuck at the same spot. I can root and get Magisk and be fine. Then I patch the appropriate TWRP file for my kernel (S10+ twrp-beyond2lte-3.3.1-3.1_ianmacd.img) and then I open the .tar file. I exchange out the recovery.img with the newly patched one. Then I repackage as a tar using B1 free archiver (this may be the issue, but it seems fine). It creates a new AP file. I insert that into Odin (the same version that worked previously) along with the corresponding BL, CP, and CSC files (I have tried both CSC and Home CSC). I boot into download, hook up my phone, hit flash and VOILA...NOTHING!!!! It says, "file analysis" and crashes every time. After a while I got sick of trying so I made an attempt to flash the recovery.img file straight through TWRP app by itself. All that did was cause an infinite boot loop. Can anyone please help me? Here are my rom file names.
AP_G975FXXU1ASE7_CL16003457_QB24029035_REV01_user_low_ship_meta_OS9.tar.md5
BL_G975FXXU1ASE7_CL16003457_QB24029035_REV01_user_low_ship.tar.md5
CP_G975FXXU1ASE5_CP12748354_CL16003457_QB23792291_REV01_user_low_ship.tar.md5
CSC_OMC_OXM_G975FOXM1ASE5_CL16003457_QB23792291_REV01_user_low_ship.tar.md5
HOME_CSC_OMC_OXM_G975FOXM1ASE5_CL16003457_QB23792291_REV01_user_low_ship.tar
MM Pre-patched AP + TWRP name is "magisk_patched + TWRP.tar."
The TWRP file I downloaded was: twrp-beyond2lte-3.3.1-3.1_ianmacd.img which I of course renamed to recovery.img.
THEN AFTER I GET THIS WORKING, DO I JUST FLASH STRAIGHT THE ZIP FOR THE CUSTOM ROM INSIDE TWRP AND THAT'S IT?
TIA
I just noticed that every time I create the tar file it eliminates the .MD5 extension. Can I just edit the file name to include the .MD5 or do I have to do something special to actually modify the file? Thank you.

I think your archive editor isn't up to scratch, install 7zip from here Download
Try using this recovery, its a working pre magisk patched image G973F_magisk_patched3.3.1-3.1.img
Rename it to recovery.img and replace the one inside your magisk patched version of AP_G975FXXU1ASE7_CL16003457_QB24029035_REV01_user_ low_ship_meta_OS9.tar.md5 using 7zip. Then flash with odin.
Hope this helps

Just delete md5 extension, you don't need that. Odin will flash *.tar file without any problems
Thank you for the reply. There are three things that I'm not sure about. All the versions of 7zip that I have used can't create or edit tar files. The second is my device is 975F not 973. Finally, what are the exact steps to replace the recovery file in 7ZIP? That seems to be where it's having the hangup.
@oggi21 I only added that extension as a last resort. It won't flash the regular tar file once I add the patched AP with TWRP recovery using the B1 archiver. Any help would be appreciated.
Any chance of US CSC's like TMB could be implemented?

The best way is to take any tar file (AP or whatever) and open it in 7zip. Then put yours files in it and delete all others that was inside
