[Q] tethering issue for arc

Hi there,
I still new to use arc and android, just would like to check with all experts, I am trying to use the tethering feature and connect my arc with pc companion, but once I enable the tethering feature and the connection between arc and computer is disconnected.
Is it really like this? normal?
use tethering for internet connection since I have no broadband at home. Think of connect both to update software from original SE website....
Kindly advice.
Don't use pc companion, but instead change your device to Mass Storage mode and use the native Android USB Tether. You can find this option in Settings, Wireless networks, Tethering and Portable hotspot, Enable USB Tethering. I've been using it without a hassle since I got my arc.
PS: there's a Q&A section right under this one.
caN I USE arc to access my broadband connection of my computer via usb cable? IF YES THEN PLEASE EXPLAIN HOW TO CONNECT?
yes, i am using the tethering which u mentioned above to go internet at home since no broadband.
recently i think of upgrade my arc to 2.3.3 using pc companion.
but i encounter a issue that i have connected pc n arc using pc companion, when i want to update phone, i enable the tethering function, then the pc disconnected with my arc ord, how to solve? thks for advice!

Wi-Fi and Portable hotspot

Hi,
I've been wondering if it is possible to be connected to my home router with my Arc while the portable hotspot option is turned on so that the other device can connect on the internet using Arc.

I don't believe this is possible, you're either in hotspot mode or normal wifi mode.
Thought so, but still, too bad.

Anyone success Defy wifi tethering to PSP

I would love to use my Defy's 3G connection tethering it to my PSP over its Wifi tethering mode. So I can use my PSP to play online games. Anyone able to run this ??
psp doesnt support wpa2 only wpa and wep, try those!

My Defy doesn't have Wpa and wep. Only Wpa2. But using open network work fine with PSP connected no problem. Just that it become an open network which I rather not use it in public. Anyway we could enable these two wpa and wep for Defy?

Try Barnacle Wifi tether , it has the mentioned profiles I think though I am not sure. Wierd as I have those profiles in the stock hotspot app.

Considered it solved now since I'm using the "Allowed Device" under the Hotspot setting and entered my PSP MAC Address, it only allowed my PSP for connection without needing password.
However, I would like to know how to add those two WPA and WEP into my Defy hotspot instead of only WPA2 currently available option in display.

[Q] Arc frequently disconnects from wifi

My Rooted World Generic Xperia Arc 2.3.4 disconnects frequently from Wifi. It does not stay for even few minutes. I have setup a wifi connection(WPA2-PSK) by sharing my PC's wired internet connection(1Mbps) through a Wifi usb Dongle(Netgear WNA1100) and Connectify.exe on Windows 7. This kind internet sharing worked perfectly on my other sony ericsson java phones(Aino,W995). But Arc disconnects frequently. I'm trying to download the remaining data(458 MB) of Asphalt 6 3.55 HD with the WiFi connection. Where is the problem ?
same **** as usual, doesn't like PSK. Restart your router

use WPA2 with AES, i had a lot of problems using wpa2+tkip (every android device i have has problems with wpa2+tkip)
You're using netgear, likely the problem, get a decent router. Lots of dropping complaints but we should really make a thread and find out good and crap routers, my tomato routers the phone never drops out with.

I'm Not using a router. I'm using usb wifi dongle. I'm using connectify on PC to allow my wifi usb dongle to share the internet connection. Can u recommend any similar softwares that can play with security techniques ?
So there is no way to rectify this problem ???

[Q] WiFi Tethering problem, brand new Xperia Play

Guys, I have a brand new Xperia Play, stock ROM, unrooted. When I switch on the wifi tethering it doesn't work.
My 3G data connection otherwise works flawlessly, but as soon as I turn on wifi tethering (or USB tethering) it stops receiving data.
Thus I cannot share my internet connection with my Vita or laptop.
I tried restarting the device, re-installing the 3G access point, nothing helps.
Anyone knows what might be the problem... or should I try to return the device?
(This is quite important for me as I work from home and need an internet connection to my laptop from time to time.)
Well are you SURE that your carriers data plan supports tethering?

100% sure, it worked previously with Sony Xperia P (which I sold already).
