Problem MicroSD :( Help - Xperia Play Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I had a problem with microsd SanDisk Ultra SDXC 64GB Class 10 SDHC SD not mounted early, I've partitioned into three: 256mb swap, ext4 4GB and a regular partition fat32 for the rest of space, my xperia play but sometimes becomes something mounted lens and sometimes does not mount the sd saying that is empty or that I even so reviewing format in the PC memory all data is there. I reinstalled the software both stock and modified some but I still have the same problem. Help----:crying:

It maybe a card problem. I had 5 months of problems with a new 32GB Sandisk card in my Note II before giving up and trying a Kingston card. I have not had a problem since then.

I think you can't have a partition larger then 32gb afaik or else it won't read

I tested the card in another phone and I've also done some testing on the pc if you have a problem because if the memory is in excellent condition but works fine on the PC and other mobile I've tested on a Samsung S2, only the phone does not respond properly on my xperia play

Like I said afaik the play can read partitions up to 32 GB correct me if I'm wrong

Just had a quick check on GSM Arena and the C902 uses M2 memory cards so a micro sd won't work.

Micro SD Card size question.

I was wondering what the max size Micro SD card for the external slot could be used on this phone for music, videos, picture, maybe eventually moving apps to?
Thank you,
Whiteice
128 micro sdxc is the max i think it says on the box. (trashed mine) currently ruinning a 32 micro in my S3 no problems what so ever
The Samsung web site lists 64GB as the max size, but that may just be because that's the largest card currently available. The sdXC spec allows for up to 2 TB cards,.
I have a 64GB GB Sandisk card that works fine.
64GB is the biggest that will work on this phone. Some of the 64GB cards won't be recognized, and will need to be format to FAT32. My SanDisk Ultra 64gb Class 10 Micro Sd card had to be formated to FAT32 so I could use it in my S3 even though it said it was made for Android.

yeah i agree as well, the galaxy s3 doesnt have a limit of ext storage to support once it was upgraded to support SdXC, other then the Sd support max limit which is 2T of space for a SDXC memory card. Ull just have to format the XC memory card to extfat or Fat32 both beeing close to the same and supportive specially if ure rooted with CWM and want to nandroid.
had to do the same with my new MicroSdXC 64 Mobile Ultra Class 10 which also said it was made for android devices. using my OTG usb mass storage it shows me having 2-2Ts separate connected together. dont ask i watch alot of movies
so you have to format 64gb sdxc card to fat32 to work on sgsiii, if you are rooted......correct?

My card came formatted exFAT and I did not reformat it before using it in my phone. The only gotcha with exFAT is that the recoveries can not recognize exFAT. I also had to download an update from Microsoft to get my Win XP machine to be able to use the exFAT partition. If that is an issue you can use SD Formatter to reformat the card to FAT32.
Just what I was looking for!!!

[Q] SanDisk Extreme Pro compatible with Arc S?

Hi all,
I've bought a SanDisk Extreme Pro 8 GB for my GF's Arc S. Unfortunately, after I inserted it the phone the phone became very unstable. After some random time after starting the phone (can be many hours but also happened after less than one hour) the phone "freezes". This (until now) always happened while phone was sleeping. Then when trying to wake up the phone by pressing the power button, the HW buttons are lit up but the display remains dark (for more details see this post).
Unfortunately, when I changed the card I also updated the ROM to Ultimate HD 5.0.0. So at first I thought that this was the cause for the problem. (Stupid me, why did I change two things at the same time? )
Phone specs:
Arc S LT18i
ROM: Ultimate HD 5.0.0
Kernel: Lupus v16 (I also tried stock kernel, but same issue)
SanDisk Extreme Pro 8 GB
CPU: 249 MHz - 1.4 GHz (I also tried downclocking to up to 1.0 GHz, but same issue)
But this morning I removed the SanDisk and went back to her old card (the one that came with the phone, no-name 8GB class 4). Et voilà, no more freezes all day! So far, so good.
So, now I'm wondering if the card is broken or if it's just not compatible with the Arc S.
Is anyone else using SanDisk Extreme Pro cards with their Arc S?
TIA and BR,
Frank

To whom it may concern: The phone worked reliably (but s-l-o-w) with the class 4 card since the initial post.
As a next step I formatted the SanDisk Extreme Pro card, rebooted into recovery and tested the SD card using F3 (oss.digirati.com.br/f3/). All sectors were reported as being okay. So, now I will again try to continue using the card in normal operation, and see what happens to the occasional freezes.
BR,
Frank
Had you try putting the same files that were in the old card? Maybe it slow down because the phone cant find them.
Or you car format everything at once and begin from scratch.
I mean, i had changed my card once and did the copy thing and everything went ok so far. Of course my card its not the same as you ask but, you can try again before discarting their compatibility.
EDIT: Mistaken.

Yes, I put all the original files on the card.
I have put in the San Disk card now after formatting it. And now it's operational for the last days. But I did change something since the initial try. Initially I had two partitions on the card, One for data one for Link2SD. The Link2SD partition was formatted with ext2. When I formatted it for the second try I formatted both with FAT32. So, maybe it wasn't the card itself, but the filesystem that was causing the problem. Or a combination of both.
Anyway, I now consider the problem SOLVED and can answer my initial question: SanDisk Extreme Pro 8GB is compatible with Arc S. :victory:

[Q] 64gb class 6 card for Xperia Play?

Hi, can someone please tell me if a SanDisk 64GB Mobile Ultra MicroSDXC Memory Card with SD Adapter will work with my Xperia Play? The one im considering is Class 6. Also, how does the Xperia Play handle class 6 cards? I have read differing opinions on the class of card to go far, with a class 10 card deemed to probably be too much for the xperia play to handle. I think class 4 was recommended but how would a class 6 card fare in the Xperia Play?

Hello, yes it has been mentioned repeatedly in several thread that the 64gb sandisk card works in the Xperia PLAY. Although I have moved in to a Nexus 5, I have in my PLAY a 64gb card for the last two years and it works great.
If you have a question please try to do a search in XDA xperia play first before making a new thread. As this will minimize duplicate Q&A threads, thank you.
Edit - in preparation, format the card in your PC as Fat32. Or format from your phone from CWM recovery

Thanks. What class card do you use? Do you know how well a class 6 card would perform in the Xperia Play? Would something lower like maybe a class 4 card perform better?

[Q] [Micro SD] Anyone having issues mounting a Lexar 32gb?

Hi guys,
I doubt I'm the only one here.
I got my G4 (h812 LMY47D)and im ecstatic about using my micro sd slot (S6 was the main deal breaker paying top dollars for more storage) but now I'm running into issues with my Class 10 micros sd from Lexar, This darn software does not want to mount the thing (tried several format including a full 40 minute format @ fat 32 default allocation).
The G4 detects an SD card but won't mount it. This thing works flawlessly on my old S3 so it has to be software related as using a cheap Kingston 1gb class 4 works fine.
Anyone else running into issues with their sd card?
Thanks for sharing any info or tips.

gonna have to give them a call as their user guide states
WARNING Some memory cards may not be fully compatible with the device. Using an incompatible card may damage the device or the memory card, or corrupt the data stored in it.
Not to found about this flagship! having issues reading a descent memory brand when an old rival device of 4 years is capable of doing so...
FIX
Just taught of leaving what got me to sort this out after playing around... Fun times :good:
After tinkering around with another SD card, the LG device formatted it to FAT16.
I've formatted the sd card using http://www.partitionwizard.com/free-partition-manager.html under FAT/Primary
It created a 4gb partition and left it the remaining untouch
Popped the SD on the G4 and it finally mounted the partition
Performed an erase via the phone 2x to make sure and the entire 32gb is now accessible.
Hope that helps others having mounting issues.

I have facing same problems with my 64 GB sandisk sd card on new LG G4
can you explain the procedure to make it work
I've been using an AData 128GB for the last month or so with no problems. I turned the phone on yesterday morning and for whatever reason it went straight to my home screen but locked up and took half a minute or so to unlock and then goes to the lack screen, then I also got a SD Card inserted notification, I figured nothing of it and ignored it. The micro sd runs fine on other devices (formatted as ex-fat) but it causes that issue on startup i mentioned above as long as it's in the phone and it also refuses to mount.
I'm using the SanDisk SDSDQUAN-200G-A4A 200GB ULTRA MICROSDXC UHS-I since 2.5 months ago formatted in exfat with 128k clusters which was what it was out of the package and it works fine.

SanDisk is the only one with something larger than 128GB at this point in time and notice it's 200GB instead of 256GB as size usually doubles in capacity, heard the 56GB was used for something else or maybe not usable. I have a new 200GB card in there now. There is a 512GB card coming soon from Microdia as well.
