[Q] Need help/advice, with weak GPS. - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note II

Hello folks, as you saw in the title, I need help or advice on what to do; I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 2 SPH-L900 running JellyBomb ver. 13.0.0 by Josh Beach, Kernel ver. 3.0.36-Perseus-alpha32, Android 4.1.2/LK8.
I'm having trouble with my gps (so I believe) because when I use a navigator like SCOUT or TeleNav or even Google Maps, I get a little message saying "Weak GPS" Unfortunately.
Now I already wiped data for these apps and re-downloaded them and still nothing (and re-booted before new installation)
My question is if it should return the phone back later to stock completely and take it to Sprint, or should I do a fresh install of JellyBomb?
Or is there a fix for this already that I didn't know of? And yes, I did search it in the forums using the search bar. Please if someone can help I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advanced and have a great day.
Note, I posted this here because XDA WON'T let me post on the JellyBomb forum... :/

Is your gps a problem on stock rom and kernel? I would flash back to stock and check it out first.

Actually, it's not that way. And being an ass won't get you mod status, apparently that is what you are going for.

i agree, this is NOT the place for this. it belongs in q and a.
that being said, google is your friend.
my suggestion is return it to stock image, and reflash.

[Q] CM9 Signal Problem

Sorry everyone for all these CM9 questions, but Recently I just flashed over to AOKP from CM9. On AOKP no matter where I went there was no signal! So I flashed back to CM9 and still everywhere I went there was no signal at all! I cannot make any calls nor sms....... (I also don't have 3g). Has anyone else ever have this problem? Does anyone know how to fix this?

[polite] You really should research a bit. Everyone here is willing to help those in need, but not spoon feed. [/polite]
Check out the development forum and look for the modem thread. If you click on the top sticky, look for it there.
Next scroll to the FC09 name. It will link you to the ACS forum. Again scroll down to FC09, download the file and you will have a Youtube video to take you step-by-step.
If you have follow up questions, go ahead and post here.
You ppl should read a ton about the developement of android before you go root and flash your phone

Ok, so I odined two modems( and tested them out):EL30 and FB15. I'm currently on FB15 and there still is no signal no matter where I am! Can someone please help me?
- I think I might just have to Odin back to stock and then root and then flash CM9.

If Odining the modem didn't help then you are correct. Odin to stock and check it then move forward from there.

Help please with OTA AT and T update on rooted phone

Hello,
My phone is rooted but ROM is stock. I don't generally flash anything and just stick to removing bloatware.
I installed TWRP and now I cannot get the latest official OTA AT&T update since the update load fails due to not having stock recovery. I have been searching online and cannot figure out how to get stock recovery.
I have been able to locate a supposed stock zip ROM for this phone. Can I just somehow flash this ZIP to return my phone to stock.
On previous phones I have been able to do a factory reset, which I have done several times on this phone today, in order to get it back to stock and accept OTA updates. This TWRP seems extremely invasive and I cannot get rid of it.
Thanks for any help

I gave up and ended up just flashing cleanrom 3.5. Didn't wipe, kept all of my apps and data. I recommend this route if, like me, you want to keep stock kernel and tw.

I am the original poster. My phone would not flash the stock ATT rom that I downloaded somewhere. It could have been a bad ROM.
I could only end up getting into recovery and download mode. I did something to erase the entire operating system.
The guys over at TWRP or at least the guys on the message board got me through it. I ended up flashing the 3.5 clean rom. I never flashed a rom before only rooted. i also flashed the new modem zip as well. So far so good I guess.
Im going to have to figure out how to do an entire backup of my phone so that next time I can just restore it.
Thanks for the replies

Boot in to recovery (it's now an option from the power button) and follow the very easy buttons for backup. Select everything for an entire system backup (7 checks, I believe). Future backups can be just your data and apps if you want.

[Q] Wi-fi issues across the board. What should I do?

Hello XDA community, my brother has been having wi-fi and bluetooth issues on his T-MO Note II ever since applying the 4.3 OTA. Before I go on, the first thing I did was use CF-auto root and flash both agni pure stock and devil kernel and neither of them have worked. In addition, I have used dr.ketans patch as well as flashing some AOSP based ROMs such as AOKP and SlimKat and neither of them have yielded any results. I have tried almost everything I can find via XDA and I am truly stumped.
Do you guys have any solutions to the wifi issues? Any help would be greatly appreciated! :good:
Can you elaborate, what wifi issues ?
Frequent disconnects ?
Battery drains ?
Sent from my SGH-T889 using xda app-developers app
Wi-fi wil not turn on whatsoever. I can press the icon to turn it on and it will slide to the on position greyed out, and then go back to off right away. The same for bluetooth as well.
If the phone was already on 4.3 then wifi patch was not needed.
I would advise to flash stock image and start fresh. Make sure to wipe dalvik-cache after flashing stock ROM.
Sent from my SGH-T889 using xda app-developers app
Thanks, I will try that when I can. By any chance do you know where I can find a 4.3 image? I've tried looking into the stickies over at the Dev section and they don't have 4.3 as far as I can recall. The only 4.3 image I see is the stock root injected one from Mr.Robinson.
You can download one from sammobile.com. You will have to register though, make sure you download the file for sgh-t889.

I just wanted to say thank you to both ciphercodes and Squilchi for all your help. My brother also says a big thanks as he doesn't have an account here. When the Note II finished rebooting from the image flash via Odin, I almost freaked out because nothing had seemingly changed but then I realized I was already on the 4.3 OTA. I also had an spectacular noob moment by forgetting to wipe cache in stock recovery. After I did that, I am glad to report that Wi-fi and bluetooth work as it's supposed to. I can't say thank you enough. In the odd occasion that this should happen again, a wipe of cache in stock recovery should be okay correct?

Glad to know issue was resolved. By default it's highly unlikely that these problems will return on a stock ROM but if they do then flashing back to stock is the most optimal solution.
Unfortunately I may have spoken too soon. Wi-Fi was working just fine for a bit but suddenly it can't connect to the network nor see any other networks. It can still turn on but connecting to remembered networks and seeing other networks are a no-go. Bluetooth is wonky as well. I'm starting to think it's hardware but I doubt it.

I have yet to wipe data since it seemed okay although the notion has been floating in my head. I did wipe cache and shortly after, it didn't work. I suggested unforgetting the network and adding it again and that seemed to work for a little while. No error messages, just the same slide to on greyed out and back to off.

Just a little update, I booted to stock recovery and performed a factory reset and wipe cache partitions but still nothing after it booted. To answer your question, I did use Odin 3.09 and it was already on MK7 prior to my first flash of the tar file in Odin. This is so frustrating.
Sorry for the double post, but I just did a factory reset and wipe cache and just re-flashed the tar file with update bootloader ticked and still a no-go. It's a shame the 4.3 update has borked my brother's Note II to this extent but it seems like the majority of people don't experience this. I'm stumped....

Prior to all this madness, I did try flashing JediMasterX2(I think) and AOKP, two ROMs that I would heavily associate with being stable and basically have everything work. Unfortunately, they didn't work. After all that went down and I restored my backed-up OTA all the way to now, it has been on MK7 stock kernel since then. I'm about to flip a table or something.

[Q] GT-N7105t and DN3 rom v3.2

Hi,
I have been a lurker for a while now, have not contributed before as usually any problem i have had someone else has had and posted a solution, but i have ran into a problem i can't seem to find a solution for and while some have had similar problems there has been different causes.
So here is my problem.
I have the above mentioned GT-N7105t Note II. not locked to any carrier. I have tried a few roms and really like the DN3 but the Phone app FC's on me. this is what i have done so far.
1. Factory reset
2. Root device
3. instal through twrp the dn3 rom
4. used the 4.3 boot loader with the N7105 MK5 kernel.
5. phone boots up fine and every thing seemed to work.
6. updated to v3.2, again everything seemed fine, wifi, gps, camera, sms. but never tried the phone as i was receiving sms i thought it was all good.
7. loaded Xposed installer and the tweaks/files i like.
8. received a call and the phone app Fc'd
from then on i went back to square one and the phone app Fc's from the very first instal even straight after clean fresh instal.
would this be a Modem problem? cause i tryed reinstall from the stock 4.3 rom and still does the same. sms messages come through fine, but receive a call or try to use the phone app and it dc's and the actual connection stops to for a few seconds to about 30, i gather this is because the app crashes.
anyone have any ideas? i have like i said done a search but can't find anyone with exact same problem.
Cheers
Which bootloader did you use ? The one in the op is for American variants only, it isn't for the n7105 anyway.

Not sure if this will help but give it a try, extract secphone from stock 4.3 and replace the one in your phone, set permission, reboot. I am no expert, but you can give it a try.

Ok gps seems to be working for most people. Can you post in the main at&t thread what option you picked in aroma, any mods you have made/flashed, which bootloader, which kernel, which model/operator and where abouts in the world you are. If we can find something you have in common we can fix it

Think we have found the culprit and @Bajanman will be posting something later after he's finished testing it. Will you do me a favour and look in system/etc with a root explorer and tell me what the permissions are for your gps.conf file are

That would be great. I have tried everything I can think of. Was going to look at if maybe i needed to flash a modem.
My permissions are rw-r--r--
Would the Knox have anything to do with it as I have mine tripped. It didn't worry me at the time but if that could be a cause I'll kick myself.

Your on the right lines with modem. It looks like you have to have the modem to match your gps.conf. @Bajanman will be posting something later today. I can't replicate the issue so can't really fix it lol

Yeah following the thread he posted in. For some reason can't post in that thread myself. But the fix don't work for me I'm in Australia. Running stock kernel. Installed everything except the kids mode. The bill. Prop and Google drive.
