So I decided to get q gnex off of eBay. So far I like it. I dont need anything high speed and this does all I need.
I look forward to rooting this thing but I need to refresh my use of adb as well as set it up again lol.
I look forward to using this phone for the next while, and hope to maybe add to the community!

i got mine off of Ebay a week ago too and its pretty great. the battery life actually had me thinking i got a defective one though, or at least a bad battery. trying to get a good 12 hour day out of it
Same as me. Came from a galaxy s+
Only doubt is if it will be officially supported for the next android version.
But hardware wise, it's still a great phone and has margin of improvements so it will be unofficially supported and running great I guess. Would be nice to know your opinions.

I used to be dankblaze over in the Dinc2 section. First thing I recommend when you root is AK Cylon kernels. You get incredible battery with them. I even made specific setting for them that became quite popular.

Hands down the worst supported phone I owned. I had the og droid before it and switched to my wife's fassy for a bit because I couldn't take it. The fassy was pretty good on helly bean 4.2.2 but much happier with the gnex eve on 4.1.1

well, yeah, that's what I feel like writing, because it's such a pointless question. you want to know what people use more? check number of pages of every rom thread and you'll know what most people are using. same with kernels. then read those threads, get the device, and enjoy flashing from day 1 you get the device, already knowing before hand what is it that you can expect (approximately, since, most of all, every device is different) from X release of X rom or kernel.
not to mention that must be there like lot's of threads on this theme, and that's it's a rather subjective/personal one.
Just broke my tbolt, got a nexus, looking forward to trying to roor and see whats here!

Should i update radios? Runnin liquid now, no 4g.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
Do yourself a favor and if you haven't yet already learn adb and fastboot command lines there is no need for a toolkit for this phone. And to answer your radio question unlike the thunderbolt any radio combination works on any ROM you can update or change radios to see if they help you out but it shouldn't matter if you're getting 4g or not. Plus these roms never include radios..well from what I have seen all the radios can be flashed separately through the bootloader or some people have made flashable zips containing them.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
1. Get Gnex
2. Root/Unlock
3. Flash new radios
4. Flash new bootloader
5. Flash new ROM - I would vouch for Codename Android with Faux's kernel
that's my recommendation plan
Brace yourself, flash addiction is comimg.

This.
Save yourself from any future headaches and head on over to Peoplearmy and GeeK's threads and back up your IMEI with both methods just in case.
I ran with stock rooted for a good week after getting my GS3 just to make sure there weren't any defects (since stock is the most stable).
Pardon my ignorance, I know what imei is, but if things go wrong, how will imei be involved?

Some people where having issues and there imei was lost, there's a tool to back it up in development section just back it up you shouldn't have issues I haven't seen people inquiring about lost imeis lately,

For some odd reason, people have been reporting that their IMEI information on the phone was wiped while flashing ROMs through recovery. That information isn't supposed to be touched, but nobody has really found out the reason why that data gets wiped during the flashing process for some users.
When this happens, the phone loses its ability to connect to your mobile network (because it has no IMEI information to present to the network), so it's essentially an iPod. Last week I randomly lost my IMEI from restoring a nandroid backup from CWM (luckily I backed up my IMEI information and was able to restore it within minutes), but I've heard people saying that it happens on TWRP as well.
I'm not saying that it will happen to you whenever you flash a new ROM, but when it comes to these things it's always better to be safe than sorry.
Also, welcome to the SGS3 forums . Leaving the childish drama behind in the Amaze forum alone was worth the upgrade for me.
